We came to the Petersham for a fancy dinner out, and although the overall experience was fine, for such a high price tag I would've expected better quality.
The restaurant ambiance is classy and elegant, with lots of glass and trinkets. The service was professional though very slow -- we were in the restaurant for almost 3 hours. It was also very loud, so it was difficult at times to hold a conversation across the table.
The food comes in multiple courses, each of them quite small. The appetizers were the best value, with the chicken liver parfait and the beef tartar being quite good. The starter of lobster and coco beans was also nice, but my main of cod with clams was a bit bland and sad. All the desserts were quite funky, with the white chocolate cheesecake being very different from expected. My olive oil ice cream was also interesting (I don't think I'd get it again, but was a unique experience to try).
Overall the food quality and portion size for the price was lacking. Nothing really wowed us. Maybe your experience will be different. read more
