Stumbled upon this little gem, Phoenix Bar/ Young's Pub, right after having a butchers at Buckingham Palace and other regal landmarks. Nestled comfortably on Palace Street, it was the perfect pitstop for us weary wanderers.
To kick things off, I ordered a tequila with ginger ale, not my usual cuppa, mind you, as their tequila selection was a bit on the lean side. But blimey, the option they did have was an absolute belter. The ginger ale, it must be said, was bob on - crisp, refreshing, and packed a proper punch.
My brother, ever the adventurous one, plumped for a banana peel drink. A bit of a curveball, but he reckoned it was the dog's bollocks. One of me mates went for a rose wine, whilst another fancied a Cosmo - both reportedly smashing.
The drinks were mixed spot on, not too weak nor too strong - just how you'd want 'em. The bartender knew his onions and served us up a treat.
As for the decor, it's your quintessential British pub, albeit with a touch of class. A wonderful array of artwork adorns the walls, lending a sense of charm and character. But the real cherry on top is the skyline room - the view is simply the bee's knees. It's a sight to behold as you're sipping on your pint or cocktail.
In a nutshell, Phoenix/Young's is a cracking spot for a bevvy. The drinks are top-notch, the ambience is cosy and inviting, and the view's an absolute showstopper. If you find yourself in the neighbourhood, give it a whirl - it's a proper corker! read more
