    Sunday roast

A cute little pub in Notting Hill by Kensington (walkable from my hotel toward Earl's Court). Had a great Sunday afternoon roast, with veggies, potatoes, pudding, and a Guinness to boot. Topped it off with some nice sticky toffee pudding. The place was busy, but a good atmosphere. Plenty of beers on tap, as well as a full bar, and champagne by the glass. Reasonably priced, and a cute locale. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.

Really loved this place! We stumbled upon it during our first day of vacation in London. We were lucky to score a table in the outside courtyard, as it was very busy....on a Tuesday night! The food exceeded our expectations by far, the prices were decent, the service was good, and it is NOT a tourist trap by any means. Highly recommend.

Tasty dinner in Kensington. The neighborhood is a nice area. The place can get extremely busy on a Friday night. Most tables after 8pm were reserved. They had a pretty good selection of cask ales and the food was really tasty. I had the fish and chips. The fish was quality fish and the chips were really tasty. My sister had the sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was also really good. They had us order from a server but then never checked back on us again, it was hard to get anything else. It's like they have table service but then don't actually do it. It's a good stop with good food.

I came here a few days ago and l absolutely loved it. The place is well decorated and gives a very historic feel. Especially when entering a new room since you must duck through a tiny door. The menu has plenty of options. We with the bone marrow burger. It was delicious and my friend got the lamb. The lamb was so soft and tender full of flavor. I thought it was really cool how everything on the menu had a recommended beer to go with. I would recommend to anyone. On a separate note. Does anyone know if this place is haunted? I went to the bathroom and I had I feeling someone was watching me. I turned around and I swear I saw a white mist. I ran my ass out amd yelled. Now I'm thinking maybe it was my imagination but who knows... super fucking creepy lol

Surprised by the food chicken Caesar salad! Fish and chips were a tad oily for our tastes very quaint inside

Popped in for a half pint before dinner elsewhere and I love the wood interiors of restaurants. Our server was so kind even when he knew we wouldn't be eating there.

This place is the best! I only went here for a drink, so I don't know about the food at all. I only know that is supposed to be good. The ginger ale is good! The atmosphere is amazing as well! The comfort is GREAT, and I MEAN GREAT. There is nothing like it! The charming tiny doors are cool also, The Price is cheap. The service is average, not that special, and not that bad! So, with all that said, this place is recommended, hopefully it is recommended on ZAGAT also!

I'm grateful for a pub that knows how to be a pub! On a cold last day of the year we walked in here cause of all of the great reviews on Yelp, and were pleasantly surprised! Very cozy, great service, good selection of beer, and the fish and chips......AWESOME!! Fresh flaky fish with the skin still attached, chips were fried up just right, and the tartar sauce and mushy peas were fantastic as well! I'm so recommending this place to family and friends, and we'll be back!

Set in close proximity to Notting Hill and Kensington in the Holland Park neighborhood, The Windsor Castle Pub might very well deserve a boast as one of the top best food pubs in central London. Food wise, note their menu changes seasonally; here are some favs from Summer 2014: pork-apple bangers on caramelized onion-fig polenta, braised scallops with lardon, smoked Haddock fish pie, toffee crunch cheese cake, sticky-toffee pudding - just a few of the addictions you'll find here. Our server was outwardly friendly and helpful (even by American standards), the menu proved to be both varied and generous in proportions. The crowd is what I would deem as being posh, but not aloof nor alienating. Back garden-courtyard is quaint, intimate and fully green...overflowing with grape vines and tall Horse Chestnut trees (mind your noggin during 'conker' season). All in all, an English charm well worth placing somewhere on your list of pubs to visit. If I were local, I imagine this being my Sunday roast supper terminus. Besides, anywhere that's adjacent to a Peel Street (a la 'Emma') get tops scores from me.

    Two absolutely awesome dishes!!!

We specifically came to try fish and chips, so we were lucky that The Mall Tavern was nearby. Each of us ordered fish and chips, and all of our plates were left nearly empty. My goodness, I have never had better fish and chips than here at The Mall Tavern. The fish was crispy, and the chips were perfectly salted to taste. I appreciate that chips in England are more like potato wedges than classic American french fries. Way less fried and way less salty, so you can enjoy the actual taste of the potatoes! I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese that we all shared. I don't know what kind of cheese(s) was used, but it was the perfect starter to our meal. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding for the first time. It was hard not to order another one!! We came in for late lunch, so the restaurant was empty. I assume they are much busier at lunch and dinner time. I also enjoyed the selection of beer while we waited for our food to come out. Next time I'm in London, I'm returning here immediately.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.
