The studio is very pretty - exposed beams, beautiful views of trees, great vibe and nice equipment. When we walked in, the manager? or perhaps owner? asked if we had done reformer Pilates before. I have but my mother hasn't. Regardless, the class was listed as all levels, so I didn't think it mattered. He looked at us like we had 4 heads and proceeded to tell us that she shouldn't have come if she hadn't done it before and he would have to ask the instructor if she could...instruct... my mother (who is in great shape and shouldn't have trouble picking up reformer) - his reasoning: "there are 9 people and that's a lot". I don't think I have felt less welcome in a Pilates studio and I live in LA. Normally people with injuries and at various levels of their fitness journey are welcome. We walked in and my party of 3 was half of the entire room. Luckily the instructor was gorgeous, and amazing, and sweet, and instructed us with ease. Overall the class was good and at the end, the manager ended up giving us a discount - perhaps he could tell how offended I was? Or felt badly? Or maybe he decided to be nice at the end and didn't realize how he came across when we arrived? Regardless, this place IS worth attending, but hopefully this review is read and the manager/owner can make people feel more welcomed in the future.

Here's the short version : It really really works and I am thrilled with the treatment, the process and Stephanie. The details; In spite of a very clean diet and regular workouts, I was not able to lose weight gained a few years ago. This treatment is really not about weight loss, it 's about losing inches that so far have not come back. The treatment name sounded like dry ice and freezing, but it's more like a lovely massage that is warm and cold. It's so relaxing that I can't really describe it more than that. The reason I felt compelled to write about it today is that this morning for the first time I looked in the mirror and saw the frame of a body I liked, not a lumpy potato bod. I lost 5 inches in 5 treatments.. and am signing up for more! The facials deserve their own 5 star review and so does Stephanie. I had an amazing initial impression after being greeted by the friendly front desk and walking through the impeccably clean studio. The amenities were a nice touch with the water refill station, Nespresso machine, and hand towels in the bathroom instead of paper towels. There is also ample parking in the lot right in front of the entrance. My first experience with a reformer machine was for an advanced class elsewhere, so I've been scared of it ever since lol. I wasn't nervous at all in Tatiana's class; she explained each function clearly, and she's quite funny to boot. The class flowed well and I stretched places I didn't know I could stretch. The 50 minutes flew by, and any moves I wasn't familiar with I easily looked to my left or right. It sounds like they have harder/sweatier classes on other days, and this one was a great start!

All the staff are very kind, and they have a cute little Nespresso machine / coffee bar you can grab a drink from after.

I always thought that if I wasn't drenched in sweat or gasping for air, it wasn't a "real" workout. I couldn't have been more wrong. I came to IMX Pilates out of necessity. I had surgery for what my doctor described as "the worst type of meniscus tear," and even after a full year of physical therapy, I was still struggling to get back to 100%. I was frustrated and willing to try anything. After hearing several friends rave about how IMX literally fixed their knees, I decided to give their 4-month introductory pass a shot. The results have been nothing short of a miracle. In just four months, my knee has made more progress than it did in an entire year of PT. I finally feel like myself again. And as the absolute icing on the cake? My stomach is flatter and my glutes are more toned than they've been in years. I just renewed my membership because I cannot wait to see what the next four months (and beyond) will do for my body. A huge shoutout to the instructors here--they truly are the BEST. They all have such wonderful, distinct personalities that every class feels fresh and fun. It's impossible to get bored when the energy is this good. Umang's Wellness Haven is a special place. It's a place where you can put your ego aside and just…read morebe, which can be a sigh of relief. I've been practicing yoga for 20 years, and Umang is the epitome of a true teacher. She gives you individualized attention and structures the class by feeling out her students. She makes you laugh and never takes it too seriously. I love that she is from India, where yoga originated. She teaches yoga the right way, by telling students to listen and honor their bodies and instilling subtle life lessons into the practice. Umang offers a variety of classes, and they are all good for the beginning yogi. If you are a beginner and have never tried yoga before, I highly suggest that you check out Umang's Wellness Haven before any other studio. I noticed she gives beginners confidence and teaches them the asanas (positions) the right way, by watching what the student is capable of. The individual attention is so important in the beginning of learning yoga! I've watched students at other studios permanently injure themselves because they are forcing something they cannot do because of the lace of instruction. But at Umang's, she really watches her students and suggests modifications. I've also noticed she stresses that breathing is the foundation of our practice, which even though I have been practicing for 20 years, I always seem to forget! If you are the type that has practiced yoga before and know the basic asanas and sun salutations, I would suggest the Advanced Class or even the Nia classes. The Advanced Class is truly not that difficult. It's hard for me to get the Advanced Class, which is at 8pm, so I end up going to the All Level's Class, which has mostly beginners. It's good for me though, because as previously mentioned, Umang reinforces the basic foundations and reminds me that yoga is more than just using your strength and flexibility! I have also been to her mommy and me yoga class, which is amazing. My 14 month old LOVES her and loves playing with the balls and listening to us chant "Ohm". She can sit in cobbler's pose and walk underneath me as I hold downward dog. Umang is a wonder with kids and keeps them laughing. My daughter was worn out after the class! :-) I've also sat in on the Nia class, which is something I want to do next! I couldn't join in on the fun because I had my 14 month old as Nia is right after the Mommy and Me class. But the Nia flow, which is a mixture of dance, yoga, and tai-chi is on my list next! The studio is spacious and is on the top floor of an office building. Umang provides yoga mats and all the props. You do not need to pay extra to use her mats, which is a plus.

Coach Parrish truly cares and invests all his time into creating a program that has done nothing but wonders for my daughter. Gloria is incredibly knowledgeable about all details relating to anatomy/physiology and utilizes her years of knowledge as a Physical therapist to develop a Pilates program custom to individual's needs. Not only are her sessions designed to rehab your injuries but they are challenging, mentally stimulating and enjoyable on a personal level.
