I recently visited Pirates Boil in Smyrna with a friend and our kids, and we decided to try a little bit of everything. Overall, it was a really good experience with plenty of flavorful food and great service. We ordered three different boil bags: one with shrimp, another with Dungeness crab and mussels, and a third with shrimp and lobster tail. On top of that, we also ordered regular calamari, Cajun calamari, fried okra, 12-piece lemon pepper wings, and steamed oysters. Most of the food was absolutely delicious. Everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. The boil bags were definitely the highlight. The shrimp, crab, and lobster were cooked well, and the seasoning on the boils was great. The calamari, wings, and fried okra were also solid and perfect for sharing. The only major disappointment was the oysters. Unfortunately, they were some of the worst oysters I've had. They were barely steamed and almost felt raw, and the seasoning mixture on top was not good at all. We ended up sending them back, and they were removed from our bill, which I appreciated. For drinks, I ordered a strawberry cocktail that usually comes with Ketel One vodka, but we asked for Tito's instead. After drinking it, I'm not completely sure the switch was actually made, and it also wasn't listed on the receipt. What really stood out was the service. Our server was very kind, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was served hot. For all the food we ordered, the total came out to a little over $150, which felt very reasonable considering the amount of food. Came here for a birthday party with a large group of about 10. I gave props to our server who was very kind and patient with us because I know to can be a lot taking care of that many people while you have other tables. The place was huge with lots of seating and they had us in the back with where most large parties were assigned. Tbh nothing caught my eye on that drink menu, and I peeped that they use a lot of pre made products (sour mix, simple syrup etc) so I personally don't enjoy cocktails made without fresh ingredients. However everything was at an affordable price and there were a couple good beer options. I can tell they do a lot of volume here so the staff uses these big carts to wheel things out which I found to be interesting. Despite how busy it was, our appetizers and mains came out fairly quick. The server did a great job with timing and getting everything right so big kudos to her! I got the half lb of shrimp with head on and thought that was the perfect amount of food and it was only $11 which is unheard of anywhere else. Amazing seafood boil experience! I visited The Pirate's Boil today and it completely exceeded my expectations! I built my own seafood combo with: * 1 lb of King Crab * 2 Snow Crabs * Clams * 1 lb of Green Mussels * 1 lb of Head-Off Shrimp All served with corn and potatoes, of course. We were a group of 4 people, and this combo was more than enough to satisfy everyone. Our server was super kind and helpful -- she explained how everything worked and even gave us great tips on how much seafood would be ideal for our group. The environment was cozy, service was quick, and the food was absolutely delicious. I went inside and it was pretty empty which had me wondering if their business is struggling and if there were other reviews that align with the lack of customers. The food was just ok. I felt like I should have made my own at home. I think the turn off for me was the level of salt. It was just too salty. Seasoned should not mean salty. I didn't complete my meal. Pirates boil is the only boil spot that I go to Georgia. Why? They're consistent, from the food, to the wait time, and service. They're located in a shopping center, which means plenty of parking spaces available. If it's busy on a weekend you can do a simple reservation. They have an affordable lunch special ranging from baskets to boil bags. The music is pretty up to date, the servers are patient, available, and calm. What a great experience! Let me start by saying: I'm a seafood boil snob. I grew up near the water with a mother who lives and breathes seafood, making it a staple in my life since childhood. So if I know anything, it's seafood. So when my girlfriends suggested that we head to The Pirate's Boil for lunch while in the area, I ran to the Yelp reviews to confirm that we were on the right track. There are a number of seafood spots in ATL and honestly, very few have left their mark on me, and I hate to waste time/money on a bad food experience lol. Especially seafood! So when I saw all of the great reviews from my fellow Elites and Yelpers, I felt like we were really in a for a treat. We visited on a Saturday afternoon after a morning of spending time out in the city. The restaurant is located in a large plaza which means tons of parking. Upon entry, the nautical theme was quite evident from top to bottom with branding all over. We were promptly greeted by a nice young lady who gave us a choice of table seating or booth seating. I was surprised that the restaurant wasn't packed yet, but there were a few other parties inside diving into their food and enjoying themselves. We were seated and welcomed by our waitress, Jasmine, who quickly took our orders. Looking at the menu, the prices were actually pretty reasonable compared to others that I've seen. Between the four of us, we all seemed to get a variety of options with me going with 1/2 lb. of green mussels and 1/2 lb. of Dungeness crabs in hot + Pirate's boil special sauce. My only gripe about seafood boils these days is that eggs/sausages are usually extra and the corn and potatoes are limited. Like, why is that? I need to start a petition and need this on the upcoming voting ballot because, aht aht. (But luckily one of my friends didn't want her eggs so I won. :D) I asked Jasmine which spice level was her favorite, to which she answered, "Inferno". My sister in christ, absolutely not lol. I like spice so much, but I didn't want to regret my choices later lol. When we received our food, the "hot" could have used an extra kick, but with more mixing and dipping directly into the bottom of the bag, it all worked out without extra spice. My boil was delicious!!! 1/2 lb. of mussels equaled about 6 pieces and my crab was big cluster with about 5 legs - not too bad. The sauce was flavorful, garlicky, buttery, really good. My only complaint was that there held back on the amount of sauce. Having double that amount would be ideal next time. My only complaint about this visit? The bathrooms. 1 stall was closed and the others, along with the sinks, looked as though they needed a deep clean. There were tissues all over the floors and I feel like that could be avoided if someone was checking the bathrooms every few hours and cleaning them up. At a restaurant where the cuisine is a messy experience, bathrooms are important and that part of the experience wasn't ideal at all. Truly one of the top 2 seafood boil experiences that I've had in ATL so far, so grateful for my fellow Yelpers sharing their feedback and the Pirate's Boil team for dishing up some great food! read more

My friends and I came here craving seafood boil. I was concerned we weren't going to get seated as we arrive 40 minutes before closing but they were still more than happy to have us. They have a fun selection of frinks including those that come in punch pouches. We shared a cajun calamari and hush puppies for appetizers. I thought the calamari was overly seasoned and small but I did enjoy the hush puppies as it reminded me of cornbread with pieces of corn! For an entree, we split the master of the sea with head on shrimps and added 1/2 lb of black mussels. Similar to the calamari, I found the sauce to be more peppery than garlicy but it still tasted great! We got through almost all of it feeling more than satisfied between 4 people. Lunch carry out I like the Pirate's Boil, I dropped in for lunch this past Wednesday and ordered a to go shrimp boil with heads off, it came with shrimp, potato and corn and I added an egg to the mix. The pirate's butter sauce was amazing. The service was great, and I really like ambiance of the place, it was clean and cozy. They do offer a full bar here and a pretty decent menu. The prices are in line with other seafood resturants in the area. Parking is plentiful as it is a shared lot with other businesses. I will definitely have to check out their dinner menu soon. read more

I was craving seafood boil and a friend of mine suggested this place. It's in a strip mall however there's plenty of free parking there. There was no wait and it mimics the style of the various other seafood boil spots like Juicy Crab and Rockin Crab restaurants. Our server was attentive and despite the fact she did not carry a notepad was able to remember me and my party of 5 orders. She refilled our drinks and gave us the silverware and bucket for our crab boils. The food was outstanding and the calamari was great not too chewy either. We were visiting from Minnesota and looking around the area for places to eat. This place came up and had good ratings. It's located in a strip mall and have plenty of parking. It didn't look like much from the outside. Once you walk in though it's huge! Plenty of seating and open space. The tables are covered with plastic and a bucket full of napkins. Ready for a delicious messy dinner! Even if you don't like boil/seafoods there are other fried options like chicken tenders and fish. They also have po boys and other shareables. With the boils, you pick the kind of seafood you want, then the seasoning, then the spice level. I love how you can customize it and make it what you want. I am not a spicy person and picked the mild spice. I should've picked the kid spice lol. But it was still so flavorful! I had to take a few breaks and sip my water to cool down my mouth, but it wasn't terribly on fire. I just don't have a tolerance. Everything tasted amazing and packed a flavorful punch!
