Some of my absolute favorite personal purchases (bought a ton of gifts here for friends) have been a beautifully curated set of spell candles, some stunning local art prints, and a steady supply of irreverent LGBTQ+ stickers that now permanently decorate my laptop. Many of the stickers were parts of gifts purchased here for friends. It's the kind of whimsical, accepting neighborhood gem where you drop in just to look around and walk out with a bag full of magical goodies and a drastically improved mood.

BUT NOT HERE! The Soft Spot has created a space that is truly welcoming to everyone, even allies! The space has multiple *soft* spaces, with couches and comfy chairs in the front and back of the space, as well as little booths/tables (with charging ports), a coffee bar (while the space is a sober space) and all kinds of crafting materials and legos and nail polish and records to enjoy! The cafe also features local artists whose art you can purchase directly from the makers. I appreciate how family-friendly this space is and how welcoming it is, as well. You've got a spacious area with a checkerboard floor like something out of a music video, a family play area, a mic stand for live music, a few LGBT-interest books for sale, and a small but incredibly helpful staff behind the counter. There are ample charging ports for your laptop if you need to work on class projects or write. While like most of Pittsburgh's queer venues there's an activist streak in some of the signage re: various hot-button topics, you also won't be preached to without your consent Portlandia-style about niche issues you don't care about like you inevitably will at some other local venues I could name. Over all, a decent space; buy a coffee or a latte there and keep them afloat during Penn Avenue's seemingly annual road work nonsense that is kneecapping local businesses. This place provides a community and a space for people who need it, free of alcohol, and functions as a meaningful alternative to drinking establishments for the queer community of Pittsburgh's East End.

During my visit to this store, a sign listed the following flavors of pierogies: potato and bacon, potato and cheddar broccoli, potato and spinach feta, potato and jalapeno bacon, potato and cheese, potato and garlic parmesan, potato and hot sausage, potato and sauerkraut, cheesesteak, Thanksgiving, just sauerkraut, sweet cheese, breakfast, apple pie, prune, buffalo chicken, pizza, bacon mac and cheese, and cheddar BBQ chicken. I bought one bag of frozen pierogies in the flavor of potato and cheese, and they cost $10. At home, I boiled the pierogies. I know that pierogies can be fried, but I did not want to add calories and grams of fat. These potato and cheese pierogies tasted very good, so I will rate this business as 5 stars.
