Was in Pampa for two nights and was given a recommendation to go here. We ended up going both nights and both meals were very good. Both nights were also quite busy. Probably a mixture of not too many options in the area and that they are good. Once seated they bring complimentary chips and salsa. I must say those chips are like crack. Very good. I also ordered some guacamole which was also very good.The first night I had the Mexican steak as recommended by the waiter which was excellent. Huge portion so I had to take half of it to go. The second night I had Tacos Locos, again a recommendation by the waiter. Again very good! Overall everything I had was well above the average Mexican restaurant. The one thing I would not recommend getting here are the salads. They seemed pretty weak. All iceberg lettuce and a bunch a shredded cheese on top. But then again who goes to a Mexican joint for a salad! read more

We were told we had to wait to avoid over sitting the wait staff yet the same size party came in after us and was seated 10 minutes before us. Terrible experience tonight at the Plaza in Pampa. I was charged $101.00 for my meal (cost of 3 meals) which I was more than happy to pay, but then an extra $14.95 was debited for no reason. A total of $116.00 was charged to my card in two separate transactions. The young manager MELANIE Then told me that I still owe $85.00 and I can't leave until I pay it. I saw 2 transactions debit my account. They expected me to pay them $200.00 for 3 meals or I "couldn't leave" The manager MELANIE then said she was going to void the transactions and pay it herself. WTH??? I told her she best not dare void anything and that I paid for the meal fair and square. The food was overpaid for to begin with, since they debited twice out of my account. The head manager tried to make things right but by that time I was so disgusted that they tried to make me pay $85.00 extra dollars on top of charging me $14.95 extra in the first place was strange, and I will absolutely not drop $200 at the Plaza for 3 meals. The service was extremely poor. Our waitress was not good at all. This was nuts. CRAZY! I have a feeling the waitress attempted to run her own gratuity and realized that was not going to work, so she ran the card again for the full amount then came and told me I still owed. Was that to pocket my $85.00 AND THE OVER PAYMENT OF $14.95????????? PROBABLY!!!!! Needless to say, I walked out having paid for my meal and 14.95 extra, SO I was not about to pay the $85.00 more because MELANIE demanded it and tried to forbid me from leaving until I did pay it. XIMENA was the waitress who charged my card twice. Once for $101.00, and once for the mysterious $14.95!!!! Then both of those silly little girls thought I was going to give them $85.00 more dollars after seeing my bank account debit transactions in the moment on my phone. What fools!!!!!! I am a loyal customer and have spent THOUSANDS at the Plaza in Pampa. Hired them for catering, had events there, this was no way to treat a loyal customer.... If they will treat me this way....THEY WILL DO IT TO YOU. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The night management is in serious need of training, and they are literally ripping people off. IF YOU ARE READING THIS OWNERSHIP OF THE PLAZA IN PAMPA....TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!! NO ONE DESERVES TO GET RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!! I like the chicken teriyaki, but I hate their new remodel. The whole point of a Mexican restaurant is for it to be colorful and happy But they made it black and white and boring with TVs everywhere and I hate that. The service is pretty good for the most part. I would give it a five stars if the ambience was still the same as it used to be, but no.:( read more

This was a great experience! The staff was friendly and attentive and the service was very fast. We went around 1:00 pm and had a great time! I ordered the enchiladas and they were great but I don't really like enchiladas. The green sauce was definitely a good choice. I had potatoes and black beans as my sides and both were excellent. The crispy Chile Rellenos is outstanding. I would get it next time without the queso under it but that's just my personal preference because the queso was delicious too as was the guacamole salad. The beef in the enchilada had the right seasonings and I chose verde sauce which fit perfectly. Next time I'd probably order ala carte and not bother with beans and rice for I felt I wasted them. Wow! We just left this restaurant and we were all extremely disappointed.... Since it was 2:30pm the restaurant wasn't busy at all however; we had extremely SLOW service. Our server, Karla, was nice enough, but she obviously needs more training. We had to ask her three times to bring us a small bowl so my daughter could have some cheese dip of her own. Then, we waited almost 10 minutes before she brought us anymore tortilla chips for our cheese dip! And Karla only had three tables she was serving. (Just 3) We only ordered Nachos & Chicken Tortilla Soup, but it took almost 20 minutes before we received our Entrees. That is really slow and unacceptable because there were so few diners in the restaurant. I'm not sure why it took so LONG???? I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was "different"! I've never had Tortilla Soup with celery in it before. ~Yuck~ I will never order it again and I'm so glad I only ordered the Small instead of the Large. After picking out all of the Celery and poking around I finally found some chicken....but it was tasteless and stringy. We wanted some dessert, but we were afraid to try any because we were afraid it would also be bad; so we decided to wait and have ice cream when we got home. We were also afraid of how long it would take to actually get a dessert order. It will be a LONG time, but more likely we will never eat at this restaurant again. Darn, when visiting my family this weekend, we ate at the Plaza. Big disappointment from last time I was there!!! I had the "big margarita". It tasted like a virgin one. I think they forgot to add the tequila. For the price of the drink, I should have just ordered water!!! Wait staff were a bit confused at times. Dont be fooled by all the cars in the parking lot. The food is not that great. The service is good and the people are friendly, but the food is lacking. Most of the plates have little to no seasoning on them, it often reminds me of eating baby food, the only meat that has any real flavor to it is the fajita meat and even it varies. So, if your looking for mexican food with actual flavor this is not your place. However, if your looking for tex-mex with good service and little flavor this is a great place for you! read more

We were greeted walking in the door to feel welcome. The lunch special comes with a drink. The sweet tea is most definitely sweet. Wow. The glass was empty to much. There were not many people eating so there is not much of an excuse for that. I got 3 enchiladas with jalapeño sauce. The chicken was plenty inside and was juicy and great. The sauce was not what I expected. Very mild and not much flavor. The chips are thin and not real crispy. The salsa is like a tomato sauce with seasoning. Not spicy at all. I enjoy spicy so to order something that should be spicy and was not was disappointing. The place is nice and clean and service and as quick and fairly good besides for lack of tea refills. I live here in Pampa and don't eat here a lot do to the fact that my food is good and then not so good. But I ate there yesterday for a friends birthday and decided to try something new. OMG am I glad I did it was AMAZING!!! I got the Guisado Chicken you can get beef but I prefer chicken. It was SO delicious!! It is spicy but I LOVE that about it!!! How in the world can a regularly packed parking lot not be right? Ok Maybe Plaza isn't the fav place in Pampa for the Mexican population, but for the rest of us Pampans who love TEX-MEX, that packed place speaks for itself. I eat at Mejias too, but the food is best at Plaza, it's air conditioned (Mejia not), service is EXCELLENT & prices are reasonable. Lots of customers never lead you too a bad meal. I had breakfast this morning at mejia's and was hot the whole time. I might get a to go meal during the summer, but if I want a sit down meal and want to be comfortable, then I go to PLAZA. I don't eat frozen chicken fried steak, and believe me I CAN tell the difference. So I asked the server if the chicken fried steak was frozen, or was it fresh. Obviously annoyed by the question, and avoiding eye contact, she told me "It's fresh". So I believed her and ordered it. It was NOT fresh; It was obviously a frozen pattie. I don't know if her boss told her to lie, or she just decided to lie because I unduly inconvenienced her with my question, or if she was just dumb and didn't know what "frozen" means.
