This was apparently the spot to be at lunch time. We were passing through on our way to NM and stopped to grab lunch. You can't ask for a better, simple burger. And the chili cheese tots really hit the spot. The service is super quick and they have multiple walk-up windows to take your orders. Parking is limited, but people came and went pretty quickly, so it wasn't an issue. All around a great find while passing through. read more

For anyone wondering about time & days to eat at Jay's, they are not open on Sunday's. I saw that they are open the other days until 9:00 pm, but not sure what time they open. Very disappointed they weren't open today, Sunday. It would have been helpful to us if they have time and days listed on Yelp. We will try again another day, while driving through Pampa. Since moving to Pampa, I have been looking for a real burger. Today I found one. I was driving around town and passed Jay's Drive-In. I have passed it before. Today I thought, "I am gonna try this place." I am very happy I did. Jay's has been in business since 1943. It's not flashy, no catchy jingles or signs. There are no order kiosks. In reality, it should be called a Drive-up. So, I drive-up, park and on the side of the building is the menu. There were burgers (which I obviously ordered). There were ham sandwiches, catfish sandwiches, pretty much an eclectic collection of foods. I ordered the Homestyle burger. It was fabulous. Instead of the normal pre made, or flash frozen burger, this was real beef, a whole half-pound patty made the way Mom makes them. It was juicy, salted perfectly, and actually tasted the way a beef patty should taste. "Homestyle" comes with actual fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. It was perfect. I also ordered the cheese fries. They were soooo good. After eating burgers all over Pampa, I finally found the real deal at a little gray building on the corner of Hobart and the Borger highway. The burger itself was $5.75, and well worth the price, however I did not pay for it. Some very kind lady pid for my food. I don't know why. She just did. So I decided to keep it going at this little, unassuming burger joint. OK, I liked this place a lot. Of course, I'm such a sucker for a good drive in burger joint! I had a double cheeseburger, onion rings, and a chocolate milkshake; I devoured every ounce and wanted more, despite being completely stuffed. The milkshake was very very good, and the burger and bun had that lovely crisp to it that only butter and a great flat grill can give you. Extremely tasty. The ordering process is strange. You can either go inside or to an outside window. You then place your order and return to your car. They flag you down when your order is ready (expect to wait 20 minutes or so at lunch time). I grew up on Jay's Drive Inn. My grandfather is Jay! When I was a kid, I could go behind the counter and make my own ice cream cone. The drive inn has long been out of the family, but the food is much the same. I love that you can get awesome fried catfish, the kind of burgers you just can't find anymore, and super dogs at the same place. Super dogs, by the way, are corn dogs dipped in something like pancake batter. There's nothing like it on earth. The fries are pretty amazing, too. Look, I now live 1,500 miles away in the foodie capital of the South, and there are days I looooong to eat from Jay's. If you happen to be on Yelp and visiting Pampa, if you don't eat at Jay's, I don't know why you're in town. read more

Not a huge fan of the meat they started using a couple of years ago, but they still make some of the best burgers in town. They also have a great variety on their menu and they mix one of the best chocolate shakes I have ever had in my life. You may have to wait a while to get your order, but it is well worth it! read more

First time here I order a cheeseburger with bacon. Old style burgers and they are great! You've got to try them.

I've been going to Jay's since I was little. My dad used to work there. The employees are friendly and the food is great.

I love the food from this adorable little drive-inn burger joint. The chicken strip basket they sell is by far the best one in town. They are fairly quick and the staff is friendly. I only wish they stayed open later than 8 o'clock, and sometimes can be a tad bit more greasy than other places. Still, its one of my favorites! read more
