Texas Rose is always on the dinner restaurant list when in Borger. I'll always choose local over chains, and TR doesn't disappoint. Some may go for steaks, but I just stick to the chicken fried steak because there are very few places left in Texas that still do it right. The portion is huge, cooked perfectly, with good gravy and sides. Great atmosphere (also getting harder to find) and friendly service. I look forward to my next visit, hopefully without all the fire fighters needing to be in town. You need a break. I do have a TR recommendation for a South Texas favorite that is also hard to find anymore, pepper steak. Not the Chinese version but two beef patties (hamburger steak) stuffed with jalapenos and cheese covered in brown gravy and served with fries and Texas toast. You can do it. read more

Service was very good! I ordered a rib eye steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was also very tender! They also served homemade rolls with the meal and cinnamon rolls for dessert. I was very impressed overall with the meal. read more

Everything went well service food was amazing. Rolls were great. Steak was so tender.

If you ever pass through or are visiting Borger, Texas I'd suggest trying out Texas Rose Steakhouse. The food is pretty good and the portions are huge, they are constantly asking if you'd like some fresh hot just came out of the oven rolls, which are definitely fresh and hot, as for service depending on who your server is, is really how service will be. It's usually a quiet, not too loud restaurant. I ordered the Cob Salad which was fresh and loaded with plenty of veggies. I also ordered a sweet potato, which was absolutely delish, if you like sweet potatoes I'd suggest ordering one, they are huge. Choice of drink was an iced tea and it tasted perfect. Even though they do have a full service bar, with TVs to watch sporting events, which is separate from the main restaurant,however you can still order food and enjoy the atmosphere in that area., while chowing down. Ok right as we walked in this place. A nice young lady started to seat me and my friend. She was stopped by a older lady waitress. She actually prevented this young lady from greeting us. She sternly quiz the young lady as to who got the last table. The girl answered correctly for which she was pleased and then preceded to quiz her of who was to get a table next. This started off our visit somewhat crappy, but I was still optimistic. I shouldn't have been. First the waitress took our order. We ordered a appetizer. As we patiently waited we had to keep swatting flies out of our face. Then here our waitress comes with our food. I asked nicely " are we going to get our appetizer?" She was like oh I am sorry. Ok, I said. She said I will pay for them I said no thanks just don't order them now. Mistakes happen. So I ordered the bacon wrapped asparagus. It was a side and it cost 4.95 extra. Didn't really want but I thought I would try since my friend suggested. This was a sure disappointment. 3 thin pieces of asparagus with a piece of bacon on it. Way to expensive for that side. We are staying in the area and saw a YouTube video on Lake Merideth where they recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint! The complimentary rolls melt in your mouth and they keep bringing them throughout dinner. My husband had the steak and shrimp with a wedge salad. He said the salad was the best he has had in 10 years and he really likes the steak and shrimp. I had the Santa Fe chicken and I'm not sure when I've had a chicken breast that was that juicy. Absolutely delicious! The service was fine, not amazing, but not bad, just forgot to being some things. Overall it was a wonderful meal and we highly recommend it! read more

We were traveling thru and looked to Yelp on where to eat and Texas Rose was a suggested. Meal started with a roll that would melt in your mouth. Jalapeño bottle caps, which were amazing they cut fresh and fry, they had just the right amount of batter. Chicken fried steak was delish. My husband had coconut shrimp and I got to eat a couple and they also tasted great. They end the meal with "do you want a cinnamon roll?" Say YES. I travel for work to TINY hospitals in tiny towns and I never find anything better than a gas station or McDonald's and it KILLS me. I got to Borger early enough tonight to actually find a real meal and I chose Texas Rose and I honestly wish I could explain how amazing it was to have a real dinner after being on the road for 14 hours. I ordered the Texas Tilapia with mashed potatoes and a wedge and I all but ravaged the meal in under 20 minutes. And it was NOT small. Amazing food, amazing portions, amazing price. I will be eating here from now on when I'm in Borger if I can get here before they close. Just delicious. So grateful. read more

I was quite surprised with this restaurant. Not much to see or draw you in from the outside but inside was spotless, clean, it looked like a brand new restaurant on the inside. We were eating early on a Friday night so there was one other table of patrons in their at the time. I had the coconut shrimp and my bride had the green chili chicken fried steak. We split the entrees with each other and I was quite impressed. First off was the wedge salad. It was fresh and crisp and had chunks of blue cheese and bacon purple onion and tomato. It was overloaded with those items. I would cut down on those toppings. The jalapeño bottle caps were fresh lightly battered jalapeños and they were next level in my opinion , I like to taste the jalapeño and not just the batter, these were perfection. Now on to the main course, the coconut shrimp was nice and hot and I could taste the coconut, it had a dipping sauce which was a marmalade which I thought was too thin and could have used something to cut through the sweetness. The green chili chicken fried steak was battered well and I could taste the chilis as well as the jalapeños in the jalapeño gravy. The steak was so tender I cut mine with a fork. I had a sweet potato and it was what I would expect out of a baked sweet potato, it was sweet and not over baked and came with a cinnamon butter to go with it. One thing on the sweet potato or any baked potato wrapped in aluminum foil, tell them not to cut into your potato especially with a serrated knife, it sends slivers of the foil into the potato and sends shivers down my spine when those hit a filling in my mouth. That put me on the moon!!!!! Oh and the rolls with the butter at the beginning were pretty good, not as great as my moms but they will do! Will return if I am ever back to Borger, TX. read more
