Big kahuna no tamago

I couldn't get enough so when they closed the Champaign location, I made the drive to mohomet. Totally worth it. I'm a creature of habit so I stick with the big kahuna. I will only eat poke at the Poke shack baby! Best in all of Illinois.

So excited to find this little gem driving back to Ky. Everything was fresh and deliciously prepared. We grabbed some tuna jerky and a spam musubi to try and we tried the local kombucha which was some of the best I've had. Don't miss out on this place if you like Poke or other Hawaiian dishes. .

Chicken bowl, tofu rice avocado bowl and sea weed salad with two drinks: $31. Will DEFINITELY come back. Place is clean. Staff is nice.

First time trying this place. Ordered the salmon poke, chicken curry, and gyudon beef. With cucumber salad and some Lomi salmon. Generous portions of everything. Taste- super fresh. Everything tasted really good. Explosions in the mouth. Bursting with flavor for sure. Def something new. Give it a try and support local businesses!

Ahi tuna!

Fresh, fast and Delish! Who knew you could get this kind of fresh food just off the freeway in Mahomet Ill. Highly recommend stopping here. Service is great as well!

Excellent poke bowl. Great flavors. The crab in it was really good. Can't wait to come back! We even had some sushi on the side.

Delicious! The quality of fish was great and the curry was on point. Would totally make the trip from Champaign to get a poke bowl anytime!

I came out here for a business trip and I was craving a poke bowl. I'm really picky when it comes to poke bowls. For me, it's all about the freshness and the sauce. You will definitely find both at The Poke Shack. On top of that, the presentation was awe-inspiring. I've tried the spicy ahi poke bowl, seared tuna sushi bowl, salmon poke pineapple boat, and ahi tuna poke pineapple boat. All were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I will definitely come back!

Everyone has been really friendly and helpful when ordering. We've tried both the Huli Huli Hawaiian Chicken Lunch Plate and custom poke bowls, and everything we've had has been really good. The ingredients taste fresh, and portions felt fair for the price. For three of us to eat lunch, it was around $40, which felt reasonable. Seating is limited to about 6-8 counter seats, so it's definitely more of a quick stop than a sit-down restaurant. The only downside is the location--it's a little tucked away and not the easiest place to get to. Overall though, I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for fresh poke or Hawaiian-style lunch plates.

The first time it was understandable, the second time they said they wouldn't make anything cold, so only fried or reheated stuff. If you do go...as for the food, the chicken Katsu is not bad, but it's hard to mess that up and they give you a good amount of rice with the lunch plate. The sides are really nothing special. They throw in a Hawaiian sounding word in the names but really it's just bland potato salad and macaroni salad. Is it the worst place around? No. Would it be a lot better if you could go and enjoy your food and not feel like you're ruining the day of the people working there just from stopping in? yes absolutely.

I recently read about King Kuma and, having been to good poke places in Maui and Las Vegas, decided…read moreto give this relatively new local one a try. The restaurant is located at The Fields, just off Staley and Curtis roads. It is right around the corner from El Toro at The Fields. Hooray for finally getting more lunch options on the southwest side of Champaign-Urbana! There is a check off list for ordering a poke bowl. I opted for a regular bowl for $9.50 (king bowl is $10.75). My first choice was for the protein -- raw tuna and crab. For my base, I chose both brown rice and mixed greens. Next up: veggies. You can choose up to three without incurring additional costs. I selected red cabbage, cucumbers and seaweed salad. For my three toppings, I chose masago, jalapenos and fried onions. To finish the bowl off, I selected spicy mayo and added $1 to my cost to get today's special, a piece of tempura shrimp added. I took my bowl to go. There was soy sauce and wasabi available for eating in or take out. The owner/manager also gave me a small bowl of miso soup. The verdict: Excellent lunch! The miso was very good. I am generally not a huge fan of miso, but this was great! The ingredients in the bowl all appeared to be very fresh and were certainly tasty. Bravo! I definitely think that King Kuma is a winner and a great place to go for a reasonably priced healthy lunch.

The name itself is deceiving because they offer mostly Japanese types of items like bento boxes, udon, sushi, and what not. I was genuinely not impressed with their menu selection and was very sad to see their Korean items go. It's not as great as they used to be. To be honest, I'm shocked their still in business with how much their menu has changed. They have some decent deals for lunch combos, but other than that I don't know if it's worth going there. I'm sad to say but it's not a "Korean bowl." They need to change the name to J-Bowl to appropriately describe the current menu items they now offer.

Then you fill out a paper that lists all the ingredients. Easy and convenient. The medium sized bowls were way bigger than I expected and the fish was fresh with large portion sizes. Quality place. Hubby said "That's the freshest fish I had lately, we should bring that guy back with us to Peoria, except then he would start serving the crappy fish they got down there" Yeah...He's a little sushi jaded since our trip to Japan. I guess they serve other things besides poke here but I didn't really see another menu. The ambiance is pretty sterile with water as your only drinking option. However, it's a great place to grab a quick lunch or get take out.
