I had a complaint about their change to signage at another location which was dismissed and justified as "legal" regardless of the impact it had on the area it was placed. Their choice to be an obnoxious neighbor. I spoke with Kirk their VP who made false statements in response to my claims about the changes to their signage. My honest review of Polish national credit union, satisfied but not impressed, happy but not overjoyed, which is why I am changing my direct deposit majority back to Capital One. Polish national credit union - The app sucks, seriously, it is in the dark ages with too many unnecessary buttons making navigation and functions far too complicated and challenging, and not enough of the new functions you should be getting from a mobile banking app, like facial recognition to sign in for example - every time you sign into the app you are required to input your password followed by the answers to both of your security questions, i find this to be incredibly irritating - not to mention how ugly it looks, the layout of the app is less than pleasing to the eye. But what did ir for myself and my husband is that after only about three weeks of banking with Polish national credit union, last night, while reviewing finances before bed, my husband and I were stunned to see that our account was overdrawn by more than $100 because of transactions that had apparently not been processed even remotely close to their date, transactions from a week ago processed late causing ridiculous additional charges and fees, and we received no notification be it by text message or a phone call, or notification from the app itself, which resulted in a $40 overdraft charge to our account. In three years of banking with capital one this had never happened to us, and can positively say that frankly, we didn't have a bad experience working with Capital One, just figured we'd jump on the Credit Union wagon, - and would have called us immediately, day or night, and they certainly would not have charged us a overdraft fee - they have no fees, something people claim about Credit Unions but apparently is a lot of bs. Basically, for all the raving that credit unions get, Polish national credit Union falls quite short of the mark that we expected from them. Not again. I refinanced my mortgage with PNCU a couple years ago. The closing took a while, but they honored the low rate I had locked in despite the deadline passing. Closing costs were pretty low as well. The staff at the Westfield branch is awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Online banking and bill pay is simple to use and I've never had any problems with it. On the occasions where I forgot my password and tried too many times I got locked out, but hey, that's for my own protection. It only takes a simple phone call to straighten it out. I've also had things notarized a few times. There's almost always a notary there. Of course, it's always better to call ahead. read more

The prodigal son returns. That's how I felt when I signed up for the Polish National Credit Union. It took 5 minutes of me talking to their professional and friendly staff for me to decide to transfer my funds from Citizens bank. I was recently in a car accident and my car was totaled. I suddenly realized that I had no credit history, most of my other cars were paid for in cash, so I had no credit. But time and fortune have been less kind to me of late so now, I had to finance. I decided on Polish National Credit Union, because I'm half-Polish and my father was a local businessman in this area, and to be honest. I felt a tinge of healthy pride when I signed up. In my mind I thought, great. I'm a prospective life-long customer who can maybe finally get some help getting my credit established and perhaps expand my small business. And all I needed to do is turn to my people. (record scratch sound) So I transferred my savings via a check and was told it would take some times for my funds to clear. Understandable, it usually takes 5-7 days for a check to clear. In the interim, I decided to apply for a small auto loan. A few days went by and I got no response so I called their "loan officer" and was told that I was rejected, because I had "no credit" and a $350 charge off from AT&T for a disputed charge from probably over 7 years ago. To spite having 50% cash collateral sitting in my savings account and PNCU. And nearly the entire amount sitting in cash at other banks. The loan officer did not so much want to speak to me, let alone respond to my application. Zero responsiveness. I'm adjusting to being low-income, and trust me...it's better to have money than to not have it. I thought with 10K in cash savings, a stable job and owning a home and living here most of the past 30 years. I could get a start-up loan from a credit union that one would think would help members with less than perfect credit. I was wrong, unless you have perfect and established credit, don't bother with PNCU. Also, I was told my deposit would be held for 13 calendar days. I'm a caregiver for a 93 year-old and that's a long time without a security deposit for a car. They were like: "It's in the contract we hold check funds for 9 days." Not a trace of the friendliness. "It's in the contract." I experienced at opening my account could be found upon rejection. No offer to find a co-signer, no credit counseling, no talk of securing my loan with collateral. Just silence. I cleared my throat, scooped up my pride and thanked her for her "effort". I have never heard of a bank holding a deposit, personal check or otherwise for 13 calendar days, and I asked who is getting interest on my money during that time and got no reply. I have also never heard of a credit union where locals need perfect credit to get a loan. But there is a happy ending. I was immediately approved at a dealership for the perfect car. Granted, the interest rate is 10.7 percent, and I have to make a 4K deposit, but I should be able to pay back the loan in under a year, and have reliable transportation. Sad that a shady car dealer believes in me more that PNCU. I'm leaving PNCU for a bank that can help me build my future, and moving my meager savings to TDBank. They can secure a loan with cash. I'll earn my money back one day, and on that day I will be sure to tell people in my community to look for funding from a source other than PNCU, I regret to say. read more

As a result of the pandemic, I have lost my job. A job that paid me in cash. There was no need for a bank account, and I filed my taxes every year. For three years my taxes would be deposited into my fiancé's savings account at PNCU. Never an issue. I even received my stimulus check the same day as my fiancé, in that same saving account. When I filed for unemployment, I used the same information, and my unemployment was sent to this same account. A few days later, the account is frozen. We called the bank and it was determined that my name had to be on the account in order for any money to be used. I was told I needed an ID, a bill with my name on it, and a letter from unemployment. I brought all three, plus my social security card, and they denied us access to the money. I asked if I could open an account and have my money transferred over, I was told no. I asked if my fiancé could withdraw her money, we were told no. The bank teller said "Congratulations, you beat the system." As if to imply that I am scamming my way to the bank. THIS IS MY MONEY! I HAVE BILLS TO PAY TODAY! I HAVE MOUTHS TO FEED TODAY! Tomorrow we are going back and closing the account, and we have contacted lawyer. If they refuse this action I will be back to write another review. DO NOT EVER OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK! THIS DOESN'T EVEN MENTION THE COUNTLESS OTHER PROBLEMS! THIS WAS JUST THE LAST STRAW! I recently began an application for a personal loan. This application was incomplete and had zero financial information: They processed it anyway. They told me my address, name and social security was all they needed anyway thats why they completed it. I asked how they did so without my financial information: A maria then told me that i had checked that i was self-employed and made 2800 a month, both are false. This is now on my credit as a negative and they refuse to help take it back and even hung up on me after I asked them to stop interrupting me when ever i asked a question. Im 100% disabled vet and I own my own home and only have about 2k in debt, thats it and they also claimed i have insufficient funds to debt ratio. My credit score is over 720 as well.
