Great food but there is always such a lack of quality when it comes to quick service it seems.

Stopped here for a family diner last night. A little noisy but clean. I had the halibut which was excellent. O would have liked the option for an additional piece of fish and would like to see a side salad included. Mg wife had the blackened salmon. A few bones found and would like an option boy to have jt blackened. A little too spicy and salty. Good service. read more

Date night this time took us to The Pondy restaurant and bar in the outskirts of Mezeppa. It's probably been 20 years since we've last been there. We surely expected a small town bar type of place. We walked in, not many people yet it was a little early. It took the one and only bar tender 15 minutes to greet us and take our drink order, another 15 or so to get said drinks. From what we could tell it was one bar tender and one cook. We prepared for longer than expected service and we were in no rush but hopefully that's not the normal. We ordered the typical bar food, burger and motz sticks. Both were cold when we got them. Prices were crazy expensive. I mean you walked in and you could tell this place was hick, lights were flickering, smoke filled the whole place from the kitchen, it was way outdated. When a burger basket is $16 and pasta was $30 a plate that place should be upgraded. We were glad we went but won't go back. read more

This is typically been one of our "go to" restaurants, and we spend a crazy amount of money here. Their prices are high and for that reason, I expect quality food. They just aren't consistent with their pasta. I've had pasta here that is some of the best I've ever had, but Friday night I had some of the worst I've ever had. The pasta was overcooked. The chicken was dry and tough. It was lukewarm when it arrived. And the garlic toast tasted at least a week old. We asked three times for a glass of water before anyone would serve water. We asked twice for silverware before we got silverware to eat with. We asked for tartar sauce that my partners fish didn't automatically come with. The bartender said he would get some for us and eight minutes later we were still waiting for tartar sauce, so my partner went back to the kitchen to get his own. When he came back, he told the bartender he got his own and the bartender looked at him and said well I was gonna get it. This was almost 12 minutes later as if we all want to sit and wait to eat cold fish. We sat at the end of the bar because all the tables were dirty when we came in, even the unoccupied ones. It smelt like bad garbage. I'm not sure if it was garbage or just the huge stack of dirty glasses sitting next to us. For the prices that they charge, and I don't mind paying for good food, but they really dropped the ball. The food was bad. The service was bad. After I complained about my meal, they avoided us like the plague and I didn't think we were ever going to get our tab but when someone finally got within shouting distance, we were charged for drinks we didn't have!! I think it's time to change our weekly "go to". Consistency is so important especially at high prices! read more

I love their surf and turf. We enjoy this place so much that we have gift certificates for Christmas. Great location right on the lake.

Went to The Pondy Restaurant & Bar last night and had an awesome experience and meal! The chips and guacamole were great for a starter, and the halibut sandwich and shrimp were amazing! The fresh dill on my halibut really kicked up the flavor experience. There was live music on the patio and the place was packed inside and out. We're grateful to have a small hometown family working their tails off to provide a fantastic supper club experience when so many of these restaurants have closed and left us wanting for a place just like this. We are regulars at The Pondy, we have yet to have anything other than delicious food and great service!! The owners are so friendly and always stop by to make sure everything is spot on! Recommend the prime rib on Saturday, the filet salad, the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and burgers! Docks available to come by boat make this a fun summer stop too! read more

Was going to possibly be our favorite restaurant for filet steak and scallops. The first time we went our steaks were over cooked. We specifically ordered medium. We talked to Steve the owner and he said come again and try the filet with scallops. A few weeks later we came and ordered the the duo. WOW they we Fantastic! Steaks were a perfect medium inside and the scallops were HUGE and done to perfection. Tasted like sweet lobster! One of the finest meals I have had in quite some time. It was a 10 and everything Steve had promised it would be. I took my wife there last weekend ready to be wowed again. Ordered the exact same meal. Sadly, night and day bad. Steak was tough and overdone and the scallops were small and sub par. Clearly not what we expected and very sad since I told many of my Friends to go there. Iffy now if we ever go back. Food needs to be a consistent WOW! Also there needs to be a few options for meal sides beyond green beans and potatoes. Love the staff and the owner. Disappointed about the food read more

Peaceful Lakeview ambiance with INCREDIBLE food! The bar faces the lake, plenty of deck and outside seating. If you're looking for the best cut of steak anywhere, order The Pondy Filet...you won't believe how delicious it is. Most unique quick sandwich is the Sticky Chicken Sandwich. Birthday dinner at The Pondy. Slow, poor service. Food a bit over priced, but must be worth it, right? Food took almost 40 minutes to get to our table. Chicken sandwiches were underwhelming, no different that what I could do in my air fryer. They wouldn't even "hold the tomato" on one of them. Prime rib sandwich - good. Ribs - good. Filet mignon, which they are known for, was way over seasoned, so I sent it back and asked for NO seasoning. Half an hour later the server came over to ask me how I wanted it done. Since we'd already been there an hour and a half, I told her to never mind, that I didn't want to wait another half hour. The owner then showed up and began a tirade (actual yelling) of informing us all that they have never had a complaint about their filet before and that they come preseasoned, but that they were making mine as I asked, and that it was almost done, so I agreed to take it. He then asked me how I wanted it done. Yet again? I told him medium rare. The steak came out 5 mns later with not even a hint of PINK in the middle. I can honestly say that was the WORST dining experience in my 60 years of my life. read more

The sticky chicken and walleye baskets were fantastic! We gobbled it down and missed taking a photo. Highly recommend this as a getaway. Owners Devra and Steve are working to make this a great destination getaway on Lake Zumbro. read more
