We had such a great night at The Hubbell House. From the moment we sat down, our waitress Dawn made us feel taken care of -- friendly, attentive, and always there at the right time. My wife ordered the walleye and lobster, and she couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I had the filet mignon, cooked exactly the way I like it. And don't skip the sides. Seriously. The bread pudding, au gratin potatoes, and coleslaw are all must‑haves. They're the kind of dishes that remind you why this place has been around for generations. We'll definitely be back. This place has a lot of history--it was originally built in the 1800s as a hotel before turning into a restaurant. I believe it's the oldest restaurant in Minnesota, and it definitely has that historic charm. We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, and it was a really nice experience. The place is well-kept, and the inside has lots of old photos and antiques, which add to the cool atmosphere. The service was great--everyone was friendly and attentive. As for the food, it was decent. We tried the steak, lobster, salmon, and their famous onion rings. The onion rings were probably the standout, but overall, the food was just okay, especially considering the prices, which are a bit on the high side for the area. Drinks were fine, nothing too special. If you're ever near Rochester or in southern Minnesota, I'd definitely recommend stopping by. The restaurant is worth a visit for the history alone, and the town of Mantorville is super cute with nice people. It's a great little place to explore! read more

My wife and I went to the Hubbell House for our anniversary. We started with the onion rings as an appetizer based on a recommendation from the waitress. The rings were excellent and plentiful. We ordered ribs and a ribeye for our entrees, both served with a salad and potato. I would have liked a veggie alternative - but the potatoes were fine. We split a crème brûlée for dessert which was very good. The service was excellent, the prices were very reasonable, but bring cash (which we did) to avoid the 3+% up charge for using a credit card. The Hubbell House is NOT what it used to be...I took my Daughter and 2 Grandgirls there for my birthday on February 8th. Our server was great..From the very first thing ordered, which was a bloody mary things took a turn for the worst. The salad that was served was so skimpy made with chopped lettuce, one tiny red tomatoe and a wilted piece of cucumber.. We ordered 4 different antres. One was Chicken Alfredo. The sauce was runny and tasteless. My lobster was cold and tough. My daughter's Shrimp was cold, as was the butter to dip it in. The Gnocchi that my Grandaughter ordered was the Only good thing that we received... The garlic bread tasted like cooking oil. Oh, the creme brulee was wonderful. The Blue cheese dressing was aweful.. I have gone there for years and this was sooo disappointing. What has happened?? And with all that, the prices are extremly high for what you get. read more

Nice lunch with a Bacon Jam Burger cooked to order medium rare. They use a blend of chuck, brisket and short rib that is juicy and flavorful. The bacon jam was very good. Way too much onion on top but piles fell off so that was good. The fries were also very good. Thanks to Karen for refilling my hot tea. On a cold and blustery day it was very welcome. Our waitress had a "big table" elsewhere in the restaurant and we never saw her, especially when we were ready to leave-- probably 20 minutes from when we were ready to leave to when we actually could sign the check and leave. Waitress didn't know the limited tap menu and charged us for refills of soda fountain lemonade. Steak was overcooked . Walleye sandwich was just okay. I've never spent that much money on a meal and felt less cared for as a customer. read more

My husband had his 60th year Class reunion at this restaurant 7-26-2025. There were 40 people, we had a room and a menus of 4 entrees. The servers were delightful, I'm disappointed to say the food was subpar. The fish was NOT fresh, had bones! The chicken with raspberry sauce- not a sauce more like jelly poured over. The salad was also past its prime, had brown bits on its lettuce. My husband asked his fish to be replaced with ribs, they came cold. The restaurant ran out of baked potatoes! Half of our party received scalloped potatoes instead. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED- we came from Arizona to spend $70.00 on lunch that was NOT enjoyable, not up to the past food standards of this establishment. We were very disappointed in our meal at the Hubbell House on Sunday, February 22nd. We were celebrating our daughter's 40th birthday. There were Sunday $25 specials, another sheet of other specials, and the regular menu. There were 4 of us. We all debated on what to order. First we ordered onion rings. They were cold. My fault for not sending them back. I ordered stuffed shrimp. Oh sorry, we are out of that. I asked what kind of soup. "Oh, it was clam chowder but we are out of that too. We have been out since Friday." What? You can't get more soup from Friday to Sunday? My daughter ordered the New York Strip. "Oh, we are out of that." How can a supper club run out of steak? Then the waitress proceeds to tell us that they are out of raspberry chicken. No one was going to order that. The waitress when we sat down should have said: to let you know we are out of stuffed shrimp, soup, raspberry chicken, and New York strip. Then we wouldn't have wasted our time trying to decide what to order. We were very disappointed and most likely won't be back. read more

The garlic toast was just as crusty and salty as I wanted it to be. The au gratin was so cheesy and rich like it always was. And the sirloin was impressively cooked. So tender and seasoned well. We were a party of 7 celebrating my birthday. We had reservations so no waiting to get seated. Had the onion rings as appetizer. Huge portion so plenty to share. They were delicious. Our beverages were served immediately. Ordered our food and it took more than 1/2 hr. to get it. I finally asked the server where it was. Everything was delicious. Done perfectly. My only complaint was the wait time to get our food. We didn't see any other table with that length of wait. Other than that, I recommend the Hubbell House. This restaurant feels fancy without being snobby, plus it's a neat historic building. The people were friendly and service was attentive. I ordered a filet mignon and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and really delicious. The only negative thing I could say is that it was a tad salty for my taste and I also thought the au gratin potatoes were a little over-seasoned also, but I was still very happy with the food. I tried two cocktails and they were so good. I definitely recommend the "cinnamon swirl" cocktail and the "poison apple" one. This is a really good place to go for a special occasion. I also tried their "to go" only fried chicken meal during the summer and everything was amazing. It was actually a good amount of food for the price. I even liked the coleslaw and I never eat coleslaw anywhere. read more

We went to the Hubble House for Mother's Day, we have reservations for 4:30, it was 5:00 pm before someone took our drink order! The server was very polite, but service was slow. They had a special Mothers Day Menu, which I thought that the prices were high. I can understand that part, but then service should have been better! My group for noon dining wanted a lighter lunch menu. Hubbel House only provided a lunch dinner / menu which meant $$$$. I was not prepared for the high price and very few LUNCH selections. I wanted a sandwich and fries,or a fish basket, possibly chicken strip basket, club sandwich, soup and salid. None of these selections were available. When I called the manager I was told that was not the Hubbel House which was found online under Hubbel House Menu. I have been dining @ this place for nearly 50 yrs. We returned tonight after Hubbell House reopened under new ownership. Powers has done a great job maintaining the original atmosphere, and many of the same menu items plus a few new ones. It was my first visit on Valentine's Day. I read about Hubbell several years ago and I was looking forward to it. I had the chopped salad, baked potato, and broiled Walleye. My husband had steak and lobster and some kind of cream soup. We had Bunnie's cake for dessert. I am a great cook and always eat high quality foods at home. The chopped salad was a huge disappointment. It was almost wilting iceberg lettuce. Please go have the side salad at the Eagles club. They do a much better job. It is very simple but the vegetables are very fresh. The broiled walleye was soggy. On the other hand, my husband very much enjoyed what he had. Bunnie's cake was good. Will I be back? Doubtful. I've eaten here a few times a year for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed. Mantorville is a quaint little town and this restaurant is the hub. A short drive for anyone visiting the Mayo Clinic. I always order seafood and it's fantastic. The wine selection is fine. The Long Island Iced Tea is very good (and is served in what seems to be a small punch bowl). The staff is friendly and very professional.
