Food was... fine. Nothing disgusting or mind blowing. The menu is huge and expensive, especially for what it is (bar food). What really got me this time were the giant FLIES buzzing literally in our face and food almost the entire time we were there. My first time at The Tap House West End. I'll start off by saying our sever Anna was excellent. She was pleasant and very attentive. She never left us waiting for food or beverages and I know she was very busy. The restaurant is also nice. Clean, nicely decorated, nice patio, etc. This review is based on the food. There were three of us. For an appetizer we ordered the fried pickles. They were fine but a little greasy. We all ordered burgers the Chicken Pablano Soup. The soup could have been more tasty but because it was served warm instead of hot, it really took away from the flavor. Secondly, we each ordered burgers. Now, for a restaurant that had a huge selection of specialty burgers in their menu. You would think that the burgers would be quite special. My husband ordered his burger medium rare. It came out well done. I ordered my burger medium, it came out well done, Our guest did not preference the level on their burger, it came out well done. Not only did the burgers come out well done but they were hard with no flavor. The buns were also stale and hard. My burger was supposed to come with thousand island dressing and it came dry. We ordered a flight of beer to share. This was fun and tasty. I nice sized flight that we could actually share. Unfortunately, the burgers were not a good choice. A GUY WALKS INTO A BAR... OUCH! I recently visited Tap House West as part of a group that took up the entire bar half of the restaurant. With only one server and one bartender handling our crew, they somehow knocked it out of the park--we were all impressed! We also appreciated the unique features of the bar, like the kegs on the wall, the encircled booths, and the large sign that read, "A guy walks into a bar." A ROMAN GUY WALKS INTO A BAR, STICKS TWO FINGERS UP TO THE BARMAN AND SAYS, "FIVE BEERS, PLEASE." With over 100 tap beers to choose from, this over-the-top tap scene would impress even Bob Fosse! Kick, ball change, *jazz hands*! JULIUS CAESAR WALKS INTO A BAR AND SAYS, "I'LL HAVE A MARTINUS." THE BARTENDER LOOKS PUZZLED AND ASKS, "DON'T YOU MEAN A MARTINI?" "LOOK,", CAESAR REPLIES, "IF I WANTED A DOUBLE, I'D HAVE ASKED FOR IT. I almost took a stab at the Espresso Martini, but chose a single Blackberry Mojitus instead--refreshing and delicious! Plural Mojiti are reserved for the next time someone does me dirty. A SANDWICH WALKS INTO A BAR. THE BARTENDER SAYS, "SORRY, WE DON'T SERVE FOOD HERE." My favorite apps of the many we sampled were the potstickers, nachos, and cheese curds. For dinner I ordered the Norwegian salmon sandwich on a brioche bun. This Viking appreciated the brutally dramatic presentation of a large knife impaled in the enemy. Sandwich, I mean, impaled in the sandwich!! I visited The Tap House West End on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM. I was seated immediately in the bar area. The waitress greeted me promptly, and was attentive the entire time I was there. The bar area was lively and clean. The decor was appropriate for a tap house. I got a flight of four beers from a copious list. They were all very good. I ordered the peanut butter and jelly burger with French fries. The fries were limp and bland - so disappointing. The burger was well done despite my asking for medium. It was edible but nothing to write home about. I would patronize The Tap House West End again for happy hour but will not be back for a meal. read more

Great service, phenomenal food, huge tap list--this place really has it all. We stopped in a little after 4pm on a Thursday. We were seated right away in a lovely booth that had a private vibe but still gave us a view of other tables and the bar. Alayna was our server, and she did a great job taking care of us during our visit! Now, the food. We made the wonderful mistake of ordering two appetizers, the cheese curds and the tots. The portions were HUGE yet the food was oh so good. We ended up taking half the tots home. We also ordered drinks. My husband tried a few beers while I had a delicious Blake's cider. I was majorly impressed that they had 100 brews on tap. The details on the menu were great, too--we love knowing where things are made. Our main dishes were fantastic. Again, HUGE. Love the generous portions. I had the triple berry summer salad while my husband built his own burger with pepper jack, bacon, and jalapenos. Great stuff all around. We were asked if we wanted dessert, and I had to laugh. We were so very full. Maybe on another visit, we can try the chocolate cake that was on the menu. read more

Have been here a few times and honestly? Nothing really all that special. The one bright spot on the menu is the blackened salmon tacos. The burgers are mediocre- not terrible, but nothing that really sets them apart from anywhere else. They don't have sweet potato fries (until May 1- not sure if just out or a seasonal item). The service is ok. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired though. The space is beautiful, but with it so open it's incredibly loud- difficult to even hear the people at my own table. We had lunch here last time we were in Rochester. We ordered brunch drinks, as well as the blackened salmon tacos, the Asian chicken salad, and a burger. It's pretty unusual for our kids to eat all of their food, but apparently the burger was really good and they loved the fresh fruit side. My Asian chicken salad was pretty good, but I wished that they had put the chicken off to the side so that it didn't cover the entire thing in Korean barbecue sauce. I would've preferred the salad dressing on the vegetables. Unfortunately, the salmon tacos were so spicy that my SO wasn't able to eat them. The server noticed and ended up being so sweet about it and took them off the bill. Thankfully, he was so full on tortilla chips and queso that he didn't leave hungry. We were in Rochester to celebrate my fathers in laws birthday and we wanted a fun place that we hadn't been. I was surprised that pub food and Mexican were both features on the menu so we decided to each try different options. 1. Kids meals are great for value and a lot of food 2. Mexican in MN continues to be very different than the west coast. Shrimp tacos and taco salad were good, just a little too sauced and out of balance from what you would expect for a craft eatery. 3. Tap House is one of those places we frequent every ~5-6 months. There's always a time where we're looking to just take a break from our usual eats and go from some good ol' American food. Nothing is better than a nice burger and fries and this place does a good job with its huge portions and tasty burgers. Ordered - La Patrona Burger (4/5). Wicked ingredients but it worked. The burger comes with guac, jalapenos, cheese, and topped with some chipotle BBQ Mayo. - Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch (3.5). Pretty standard sandwich. Nothing too rave much about. The tator tots that came with it was really good though - very crispy! If you're ever shopping at Costco or around the area, this is a good place for a quick, tasty (and heavy) lunch. read more

Wednesday, September 17, we dined at The Tap House West End in Rochester, MN, and I enjoyed a meal that was beyond compare, their Lobster Tacos. For anyone who loves lobster rolls like I do, this offering is MORE than satisfying! There is more lobster in the two tacos than in any lobster roll I've ever had, and the presentation and fillings are more than equally satisfying. I've missed lobster rolls here, and even the local restaurant with "that name" doesn't serve them. You won't be disappointed at The Tap House West End and I hope our server William will be your server, too, because he's also excellent! Went for dinner and it was really busy, but the way was 20 mins so not bad at all!! It was a beautiful night, so we can wait outside. It only took 15 mins for us to be seated. My wife and I had a lot of things to talk over so we just started with drinks. Our waiter was awesome and very patient on getting our food order, but did continued to stop by and check in on us. Our food arrived and it was delicious! I wanted something on the smaller side so I got the Steak Quesadilla. About half way through the meal, I found a foreign object in the middle of the steak & cheese. Nothing gross, but something commonly found in the kitchen atmosphere that must have fallen and got mixed in. It was brought to our waiter's attention and he began apologizing. They offered a complete new meal, but I denied the need for a fresh meal as the object wasn't anything gross like hair, or a bandaid, or anything of that nature; but simply something that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Things happen, no big deal. Our waiter took the object to the manager and the kitchen. The cook and the manager both came out and apologized. The issue was MORE than remedied on the back end of our visit and they were truly sorry. We had been here a couple of times previously and have NEVER had any issues and the food and drinks are always on par. The drink menu is endless and there's always something new to try. It's a great place for a quaint romantic dinner (ask for the circle booths) or a great get together with friends. With the mishap, normally would be a 1-2 star review but their customer service recovery & reconciliation was above and beyond. 5 starts maintained. read more

We (2 guests) were sat at 4:55 and there was only one other table (4 guests) in our servers section. We sat for 5 minutes and were brought water by the host who informed us she would notify the server we were waiting to be greeted. Another few minutes went past and another table in the section was seated. I saw the server in the back talking to her peers seeing we were waiting. Our server went to the new table and avoided any eye contact with us who had been waiting for several minutes, took their drink order and walked away. We waited for a few more minutes and the server had the drinks for the new table. Only when we got up to leave the server turned around to attempt to greet us. We had already decided that we were not going to spend any money at this establishment. If there was at least a simple table touch from the server or acknowledgment of our existence this could have been remedied. Nothing special based on service. Food was above average at a typical sports bar level, had a simple order of shrimp tacos (good flavor) and (somewhat soggy) sweet potato fries with a couple of local beers. They have 100 beers on their list and the biggest item that moved me down to 3 star was that our server didn't know much about beer. If your going to advertise as a tap house, with 100 beers, many of them unique, you need servers who know and like beer. I would go back to this restaurant as prices were fair and it was ok, but the service was meh and I think the owners should consider that sometimes less is more. I ordered the sourdough burger, which sounded promising, but it was incredibly bland. It didn't seem like they used even basic seasonings like salt and pepper, let alone anything else. we have discovered a new breakfast item on their Sunday menu - Totchos This amazing enter ids a combination of eggs (the way you like them), meat (e prefer the steak - tender and juicy) quiso sauce, cheese, red and green peppers, and a very generous portion of crispy crunchy tator tots, oh and I almost forgot the breath taking jalapeños. Beer list is phenomenal and priced well. Food is pretty good. I've had burgers, tacos, burrito and some apps. Place is very nice and service is great. A few suggestions: tacos should come with a side for that price such as a small chips/salsa. Burrito comes with chips, should include salsa as well. Your appetizers are too expensive and discourage me from getting them every time I come in. Overall, this place loses one star for pricing, but I still go all the time. During our recent trip to Rochester we visited The Tap House West End as it was near our hotel. First off, we loved the decor! It was beautiful inside. It was really, really, cold in Minnesota while we were there but I'd love to go back and sit on the patio in the spring time! The whole place had Christmas type decor up still and it was lovely, very cozy. I ordered a steak quesadilla and my mom ordered Korean bbq styled wings. The wings were very good, they were kind of spicy but the flavor was magnificent. I ordered the steak quesadilla because I wanted to be able to take leftovers back to the hotel and eat it later and the quesadilla was perfect for that! This is their second location here in Rochester and I might have to say I like this location better... Super hard to say as the downtown spot is beyond legit with a rooftop. However, the patio here is so hard to beat!Everything is always spot on at either location. Tacos and tachos are the go to's but honestly everything is good. Stopped by for lunch delighted to find out fish tacos half price on Tuesdays. They were fantastic loved the jalapeños and slaw. We had a Tater tot appetizer with yummy bacon and cheese that hit the spot. Their agave margarita was amazing. Our waitress was covering six tables. These people don't give a damn about their business! Last night they said they were open till 9....we showed up at 8:15 and the doors were locked. The guy in side just nodded no to me. Tonight we go and they said they are open till 9....we get to the door and there is a sign that says they are closing at 7....FOR HOLIDAY DECORATING! We got there at 6:49 and the doors were locked again. 2 female employees were looking at us and laughing. I hope this place closes down soon, they don't deserve my money, or yours.
