We were so lucky to find The Pool repair guy. We just moved in a few months ago and we knew the pool we inherited needed some work. We got three different quotes from three different companies for work that included a full resurfacing, converting the pool to salt water, LED light change/repair, a skimmer issue and a few other things. Their quote was the most fair and comprehensive, and talking to Bobby in person and then Tracy over the phone sealed the deal for me. Bobby explained everything they would do. He showed me photos and gave me advise on what things to invest in and also what things we could save money on. Terrible quality and doesn't show up on time. My pool was resurfaced in December. There are patches of white spots and dark spots everywhere due to bad mixing. I received a text from my management co that I needed to replace my pool filter asap. The quote seemed a bit high and since I don't live in the area did want to get a few more quotes to be safe. I found The Pool Repair Guy on line last night and had an email response back before 7 am. Bobby was able to give me a price quote for full replacement but in case they could fix it would let me know later that day. A few hours, he sent a few pics and confirmed I needed a full replacement. They replaced it right then and sent me pics of the new filter. Since I had another property around the corner, asked if they could just take a quick look to see if I may have any issues in the near future with the pool filter. He happily agreed but can you believe he fixed a leak I had at no charge. He just texted me after he had already fixed it. Bobby resurfaced and retiled our pool in June 2015. It looked beautiful and we were happy. However less than two years later a lot of the grout between the tiles is missing/coming out/eroded on the back raised wall of the pool (above the water line). Calls, texts and emails get no reply. We paid over $7000 and do not expect grout issues so soon and no response is not acceptable. I heard from other pool companies I've since contacted that they've had to repair alot of Pool Repair guys work. be forewarned, warranty appears to mean nothing. read more

We had to have our pool resurfaced in October. We got several estimates, all close in amount. We chose this company because we liked Bobby, the owner. The pool had hidden damage that no one anticipated. When it was brought to our attention we were told they may need as much as another $1000, and that came via the office secretary. I told her to have Bobby call us. I also told him to come out so we could discuss the problem in person not through emails or cell phone messages. Instead, despite several opportunities, Bobby never came to talk to us face to face about anything. The plastering crew that actualy applies the new surface to the pool never showed up until after 3:00 on the scheduled day and began working around 3:30 or later. The documents provided to us said this step requires at least 5 hours. It got dark around 7:30 then. By day's end it was obvious they were rushing to finish the job before dark. The result was a sloppy job on the plaster work, which was uneven and wavy. The plaster also wasnt mixed thoroughly resulting in several 2" and 3" white spots on the pool bottom that contained no blue aggregate and stood out. One crewman suggested it was only calcium and would eventually brush out. It didn't. My husband wouldn't even let me call Bobby to complain further about that because he just wanted to be done with them at that point. I disagreed. Their clean up was the worst I've ever seen. Our screen enclosure was brand new and it was now covered in a fine white powder both from mixing the plaster so close to the house, combined with the dust from the pool surface excavation. The paperwork telling us to cover patio furniture and other items to prevent this dust problem elsewhere was sent after the fact instead of prior to startup. The pool deck itself was left a mess. We had mostly cleaned it ourselves before anyone showed up. My husband and I also cleaned the entire screen ourselves with a brush and a hose. Also, their instructions specifically called for them to dig a shallow hole in an obscure place in the yard to empty their mixing buckets, etc with the thick plaster residue water. Instead, they dumped it willy nilly all over our yard, leaving big white spots and in some areas the plaster eventually hardened and killed the grass. It was spattered on our fence and in one place covered and hardened over one of our sprinkler heads which had to be dug out. Their instructions given to us also said they would completely handle the pool refill and that we were not to remove the hose or touch anything and that someone would be there to turn off the water and remove the hose. Had we not awakened at 7:30 that next morning and checked, the pool would have overflowed. No one ever came at all that morning to turn off water or remove the hose. We did it ourselves. At one point Bobby blamed part of the long list of problems on the fact that we were so far from his home-base in Kissimmee. We live in Clermont. He knew that when he bid the job so I found the comment to be no more than an empty excuse and frankly ridiculous. Also, if you want an extra $1000 for a job you've already bid, you don't have the office girl call with vague estimates and no authority. Based on the numerous problems we had, I would not recommend them to anyone. Bobby is a very nice guy, but his failure to ever communicate with us face to face regarding any of the many problems encountered was the deal breaker for us. read more

Had an issue with pool heater and asked Bobby to come out to inspect. I requested someone be on the premises before any work was to be done. On the day of the planned work I took off and waited for a knock at the door to meet and walk out to the heater with the technician. No one ever came to the house. Months later I receive an invoice for a $75 site visit fee which I of course question. Bobby insists he was on site and decides he is going to charge $75 for him supposedly looking at an error code on the pool heater or is going to put a lien on the property. Obviously not wanting to deal with the credit fallout I paid the $75 ransom for the 'work' that Bobby performed. Any legitimate contractor would have someone sign paperwork at the end of work being completed. I'd suggest anyone looking for pool repair service to look elsewhere for a more honest and trustworthy vendor who respects their customers - not looking for a way to scam them out of hard earned money. read more

They did a great job replacing our pool pump after it broke (and we were left out in the cold by our home warranty). Only suggestion - I wish they could call before they would come. Also, I wish they would communicate if someone was running late, etc. The first day someone was supposed to come out they weren't able to due to rain. In short Bobby the Pool Repair Guy is honest and transparent, keeps the customers interest first by only quoting work that has value and then completes the job with quality and care. Her is how I know... My existing pool service company would not quote me for a small repair job because it was not worth their time and instead tried to sell me on a complete remodel for $8000. I then called Bobby The Pool Guy. He met with me to discuss the repair and carefully explained why the patch job I was asking for would not look good when finished. It was obvious in our discussion that he takes great care in the quality of his work and will not leave the customer with a shabby patch job. Instead, Bobby explained how he could replace most of the tub face (not a full remodel) and still be well within a reasonable budget. He also explained carefully that the price might go up slightly if the granite spillway was not able to be removed in one piece. Finally, since the pool was going to be drained, he also suggested that we do an acid wash of the entire pool. He was completely forthright in that the pool was not going to look new, but was going to get a facelift that would enable me to get another 3 - 5 years before a full remodel would be necessary. Bobby took the time to find the tiles to match our existing. However, when it came time to do the work, they discovered the tiles were not the exact size. His team immediately stopped the job and Bobby met with me again to show me the variance and how they were going to accommodate. It was a great solution. At the same time, he walked me around the pool to explain why the acid wash was going to show little benefit and recommended I save the money. Wow, was that refreshing... a contractor who had the chance to do the job I had already approved, turned it down because it was not going to give me value. They completed the project in a timely manner and for less than $1000. To avoid the risk of extra costs, they patched the leak without removing the spillway. The pool looks great and I avoided an unneeded complete remodel. I highly recommend Bobby The Pool Repair Guy for his quality work and for his principled business practices. read more

We had our pool resurfaced during the process our pool filter was damaged beyond repair and I had to replace the filter at my own expense even though they caused the damage. I also am now having a problem with my main drain which didn't exist before the resurface called to have this checked and no help or response in checking for the problem. We had them replace our pool pump and they did a good job so we called them to resurface our pool. When Bobby came out to speak to me about the process he was friendly and informative and said that "the company doesn't ask for money until we were satisfied with the job and that they would show us how to maintain the chemicals." So we thought well that is great! WE WERE WRONG! After we decided to start the process the communication disappeared. They didn't answer our emails or calls. When we decided to start the process we asked them to let us know when they would be there and we would open the gate. They never told us when they would be at our house. They just let themselves in the back yard when they did randomly show. We had to call the office to see if they were coming out the next day and when we finally spoke to Rebecca in the office she assured us they would be there the next day.......We didn't see them for another 3 days. They said that they would show us how to maintain chemicals and when we asked about it and FINALLY got in contact with them they said they can come out and show us how but it would be an extra $45 dollars. We also asked them to fix our light in the pool. They told us they could do it for $90 and then when they "finished" resurfacing and we asked they said it would now cost $900. The job wasn't finished, the pool wasn't cleaned, and there were pieces to our pool missing and they started hounding us for payment. They said usually they take 50% upfront but they didn't for us in good faith, BUT YET WE HAD OFFERED TO PUT UP THE 50% UPFRONT AND THEY SAID NO. So they kept threatening us for money even though we weren't satisfied with the job they did. The communication was non-existent and they give you empty promises. This is the last time we ever use them and I encourage you to steer clear and find someone else to do even the smallest of pool jobs. Terrible, absolutely terrible. read more
