Adding to their ONE_STAR reviews: If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with The Posh Duck on Main Street was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I dropped off two pieces of *designer jewelry* on March 31 and was explicitly told by the manager they'd be authenticated in "a day or two" and possibly included in their April 4 sale. She said they were perfect for their demographic and the festival season coming up. (Coachella began the following weekend.) That sounded reasonable--until I was completely ignored for **10 days** after five emails and four phone calls, and creating an account on their site which remained empty. From the Posh Duck (and what a stupid name): No updates, no emails, no calls--nothing. Meanwhile, this store had roughly $3,000 worth of my property and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me after my repeated attempts. Their own in-store policy claims customers will be contacted multiple times via email and phone within seven days. That simply did not happen. Instead, I had to repeatedly chase them down with emails and calls that went unanswered. At one point, I seriously considered reporting my jewelry as stolen to the Santa Monica Police Department because the total lack of communication was that alarming. It's called, um, THEFT. When they finally responded on April 9, the excuses were laughable--apparently the 4/4 store "event" created a total communication blackout. That's not how any legitimate business operates. A quick email update takes 30 seconds. The complete disregard for basic customer service is staggering. To make matters worse, the manager contradicted what I was originally told, claiming longer authentication timelines that were never disclosed to me. The shifting explanations and dismissive tone felt like gaslighting rather than accountability. Then, instead of making any real effort to fix the situation, the owner essentially brushed me off, claimed everything was handled properly according to "policy," and closed the matter. No accountability, no apology that actually meant anything--just a cold, defensive response. Bottom line: I trusted this business with valuable items and was met with silence, disorganization, and disrespect. This was unnecessarily stressful and completely avoidable. There are plenty of consignment stores that actually value their customers--this is not one of them. Stay far, far away. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience really deserved one. The woman who identified herself as a manager (and has apparently worked here for over 11 years) was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Her mannerisms, tone, and attitude were completely unacceptable in a customer-facing role. Whatever mood she was in had absolutely nothing to do with me, yet it was taken out on me as a customer. There is no excuse for treating people this way. Customer service means respect, and that was entirely missing here. Do better -- customers are not the place to unload your bad day. read more

This store is darling. There's plenty of things to choose from. The prices are high, but not outrageous. They apparently moved across the street so if you're looking on a map, go across the street. read more

I never leave a review anywhere, but just had a terribly dishonest experience with the woman who said she was the manager. She sold me a ring for triple the price it's listed at on the website. I wouldn't trust anything about this store. read more

I also had a very disappointing experience at Posh Duck in Santa Monica. The manager initially priced my items one way, then later called to say they couldn't sell them and significantly lowered the prices. It felt inconsistent and unprofessional. When I went back into the store with friends, she was rude, impatient, and unwilling to take the time to properly appraise the items I brought in. It seemed like she just wanted to rush through the process. Only after we pointed out a clear pricing mistake did her tone suddenly change but then became combative even. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable and poorly handled. I ended up taking my items to another reseller, and they had no issue carefully reviewing everything and pricing the pieces fairly. I've since heard from several others who've had similar experiences at Posh Duck. I would not recommend selling to this store based on how we were treated. read more

Scored a pair of Lululemon shorts at a much lower price than their retail store...worth the long walk

I have been shopping here for years and years and I would say I've purchased 75% of the clothes in my closet are from here. Since the name changed and they remodeled their store, I've been disappointed consistently, and unfortunately, it is no longer my go-to store for clothes. The way they've remerchandised the store is not user-friendly and has made it more difficult to shop... With some racks so low that I have to squat down to look through them and no longer organized by size (crucial for resale retail), so I don't even bother looking at them at all. As somebody who was in retail for a long time, I really hope they take note of this as I am sure it has affected their sales. Their prices have gone up quite a lot and their selection has not been as good as it used to be. I never see the same employee there twice, and the general energy in the store has not been as welcoming as it used to be. I've gone from stopping by twice a week to just a few times a year. read more

HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE: 15-YEAR CLIENT ABUSED AND DECEIVED I have been a loyal consignor and customer at this location for 15 years, long before it became 'The Posh Duck.' When it was called The Closet. I have never had an issue until today, but my experience with the current management and staff was absolutely horrifying! 1. BREACH OF GOOD FAITH: I came in to settle my account and retrieve items. For three years, I worked under a good-faith agreement with the owner's wife, Kristen. She honored a structure where we priced items together and she would notify me before applying discounts or removing items from the floor so I could retrieve them. Kristen admitted today that she honored this 'as a point of customer service.' Today, I found out they removed my high-value inventory from the premises without a word. 2. VERBAL & PHYSICAL ABUSE: When I expressed my upset, the manager became unhinged. I specifically told her, 'If I sound angry, it's not at you, I'm just upset about the situation.' Instead of being professional, she began screaming obscenities in my face, told me to 'get the f*** out,' and even shoved me into a counter. I kept repeating to her that I'd like to see my contract and I would say calmly and she would scream in my face "get the f.... out of my store. I'm calling the police" at one point, she took her cell phone and shoved it in my face and said "I'm recording everything you, (I was standing there waiting for a printout of my contract), to which I said good! let people see how you treat your customers and your consigners! She was so out of control that a stranger who witnessed the scene in the store later approached me at a different shop just to apologize for the manager's horrifying behavior. She said "she will never walk into that store again". 3. UNPROFESSIONAL OWNERSHIP: The owner, Daniel, was just as disgraceful. He was rude on the phone and is currently withholding money that his manager admitted they owe to me. 2 checks!! On a back-and-forth text message argument I had with him he decided not to respond to me when I asked him how I could get my check so he's now ghosting me which is going to become a legal issue! A friend of mine just alerted me that they are trying to sell the store for almost a half $1 million? It's not gonna look too pretty after I honestly express my opinion! To treat a 15-year loyal client with this level of distain, unprofessionalism, aggression, and dishonesty is appalling to say the least! . I would never shop or consign here again. Given the way they treated me, a client going to that location for 15 years, they obviously have no respect for long-term relationships, and apparently think it's acceptable to physically and verbally assault their consigners/customers. Save your money and your dignity--go to The RealReal. They don't ditch your clothing after 3 months... especially if they verbally tell you, they won't do that! And they won't ignore your messages when you're asking for your pay!!! They are professional professionals which is not at all the service you get at the Posh Duck! If you're interested in purchasing the store, I highly suggest they get rid of that absolutely immature, unprofessional, ballistic, manager, Keira! I've read the reviews. I found this store in the area I enjoy shopping in. Went in a few times to find overpriced stained items. They are snobby. They are not nice and I suggest shopping at thrift stores near by or trade at Crossroads or Trove. A much better deal. will not go back. Aviator nation sweat pants are priced at 87.00. you can get them at the retail store with a slight imperfection for less. read more

Please, consignors....I beg you to consider taking your Designer Items anywhere else! I have personally had terrible experiences with these new owners who have recently changed the name from "The Closet Trading Company" to "The Posh Duck"...Not to be Trusted.....Disorganized, ..Lose Track of your items... takes forever for them to price your items and get them out on the floor, .Bookkeeping on the Website is often shady...Payments are often late. read more

Dishonest, disorganized and rude staff. A company that doesn't take responsibility nor have any integrity. Your items will get lost, your payments dont come to you. Do not trust them with your items! My wife was in the store like two weeks ago and she heard one of the employees. I think it was the manager screaming and yelling in a customer's face telling her to get the F out of the store and the customer was just standing there asking for some sort of paperwork? She said it was extremely disheartening and upsetting to witness that kind of abuse from an employee to a customer I'm writing this review because it's not the first time she's Witnessed that same crazy girl, completely act, unhinged and abusive towards people in the store. I guess my wife says her name is Keira? Whoever this person is working at that store, the fact that you keep her there when she speaks to customers like that, and scares other customers away is hands-down, crazy! My wife will never shop at that store again because she thinks the way they run their business is shady. She bought a sweater that they said was in perfect condition and it had tears and holes in it. I've never written a review before I felt compelled to write this one. The owner of the store is a man named Daniel. I dropped off clothes about eight months ago in his store where he says that they sell them and I'd get a percentage of what they sell them for. After I left them, I never heard from anyone again. When I finally called and was able to reach him, because the staff didn't know anything about it, he told me that he had sold a few of my items but not all of them. I gave him permission to discard the other ones and he said I had a check waiting for me for $158. I went in three or four times to pick up the check, but the women who worked there knew nothing about it. To be honest, I kind of forgot about it. When I went back in a month or so ago to inquire about my check again the two women,who were very nice, told me they only had one check in the back and it was for somebody else. They had no record of me or anything that I dropped off there. They told me that they would have the owner call me when they could reach him. I was on my way walking home when the owner called me and told me that I threatened his employees. That was a 100% lie. I did tell his employees that I was going to write a review on yelp or I was going to call the Better Business Bureau if no one could help me. I don't know how that's a threat. He told me he would mail me the check that he owed me, but I was never allowed to step foot in his store or he would call the police! Something like this has never happened in my life. . I told him to go ahead and mail me the check and I went to give him my address when he told me he didn't need my address because he didn't want to waste one more minute of his life speaking to me. He hung up after he told me that if I called the Better Business Bureau, I would hear from his lawyer. Needless to say, I've never received the check. I've never been back in the store.
