I took note of Take Note when I was in The Junction a couple of Saturdays ago. I was parked steps…read moreaway to have brunch with friends. I was early and checked the area out. This store is for folks who love to write, do calligraphy, or have a fondness for fountain pens and decent stationery. It is heaven and deadly. I decided not to go in. I knew that if I did, I'd be there for hours, wanting every fountain and calligraphy pen, and every ink imaginable. I love fountain and calligraphy pens. I am content with the pens that I have, so I did some window-browsing instead. I noticed Blackwing pencils on a desk close to the window. They aren't cheap! A single pencil will cost you $40. My not entering this store was a wise choice. Blackwing pencils are special in that they use high-quality graphite that rarely breaks. It is made of incense-cedar wood that makes sharpening it easy. There's a rectangular eraser on top, likely for flair. It's still crazy expensive for a pencil! If you are looking for a fancy writing instrument or quality paper, this store is for you. I was happy browsing from afar. If I do win the lottery, you'll find me here buying everything. (490)

Price range is okay, just think it saves you time and money from buying online or overseas. I also got a Pilot Calligraphy pen orange. And the best part is they wrapped my purchased, more ephemera for me to use on my journal.

They're a specialty store as the store name would suggest, they're selling everything from high quality pens, to markers, to booklets, and more. To my surprise I found the inky white gel pens I've been using for my colouring books, and bought 3 different coloured ones. They were well priced and I was so happy to support a local shop! Customer service here was also top notch, with very homey vibes, and friendly staff.

So, when I found myself early for a doctor's appointment, I "accidentally" took a detour that led me right here. For those planning a more deliberate trip, it's less than half a block north of College Ave, right off the Grace St stop on the 506 streetcar. The shop has a huge selection of fountain pens and fountain pen paraphernalia and a solid range of washi tape, pens and quality notepads, including Rhodia and some nice Japanese brands. My quest for Uni Jetstream pen refills and some Traveler's Notebook swag came up empty, which I'll chalk up to it being January, prime "sold-out-of-everything" season for anything planning related. Despite that, I didn't leave empty-handed. I picked up a Life Noble Note Section A5 grid notebook, (a new brand for me) and a beautiful Zebra Sarasa Clip 3-color pen. The prices were quite reasonable, even beating some I've seen on Amazon. I also scored some 2026 Midori monthly diary stickers from the closeout cart near the register, which felt like a real victory. I'll definitely be back in a few months to check for restocks. It's a great little spot with some quality finds.
