You walk in pick out what you want to paint then pay , they show you what you're supposed to do and give you some guidance but for the most part, you're on your own, in your world painting. I saw this amazing plate on Facebook post and thought it would make a great gift. I reached out to Kim at The Pottery Nook and asked if she actually made the plate and if I could order them as future gifts. She replied and told me she did make the plate and that I could order them as gifts. A few days later I placed an order for my friends birthday and she even personalized the back for me. I have painted at many pottery places and have never received my piece so badly damaged. The face of my plate came with many chips in it after it had been fired. The side also had many cracks in the glaze and a scrape off the side. I was really really disappointed in how I received my piece. read more

My team of 4 came here for a little after hours fun and it was far beyond our expectations. The pottery is really cute. . They are really helpful and the entire process was so much fun! They have all the gear.. all we had to do is pick the piece we wanted to paint, pick our colors and start creating. They have anything you could imagine as well as stencils, glazes, special tools and a rainbow of colors to choose from. . If you are thinking about coming... Book the date.. I have been there a few times. This place is a great place to make your art, catch up with your kids, friends and family. Just FYI if you have 5 or more going call and make reservation. I think I only saw couple groups they didn't have room for. Really great time and you can create not only memory, have something to mark the occasion. read more

I've had two of my dogs paw prints done here, it's such an amazingly beautiful thing for any pet owner and Kim makes it so easy!! She helped me pick a time to bring my older dog in so it wouldn't be busy and stress him. I'd highly recommend the nook to anyone! read more

I have now been here twice. First for a painting class for my daughter a couple weeks ago that I found via another class they were doing for the city of marysville. When we walked in I had no idea how many projects were available to do there. Painting canvas, glass art, pottery of course and probably more! My husband and I took my daughter and two friends tonight for her birthday. They all painted pottery and we did too. So relaxing. Two solid hours of creativity for all 5 of us for around $100. The pieces are all different prices but the paint and supplies are free. Kim was so awesome and made us all feel like we were artists. I can't wait to go back with my girlfriends! read more

I had my daughter's eighth Birthday party, we had a great time. One child didn't show up, and one child didn't make anything, and they were fine with that, they supplied paper plates, spoons, cups. They had a refrigerator for our cake, they ordered pizza and pop, for only $3.00 more per child. We will definitely go there again. I have been bringing my grandkids in, ages 8-12 now, for the past 2 months! We just keep going, because, well, I can't finish in one session and there are soo many great things to chose from. The finished product looks as though it were purchased at a boutique, lol...absolutely stunning!! I stepped outside of my comfort zone and it was so much fun!! I admit it I am not artistic. I was totally put at ease by the staff and assured I would do just fine. My son and I went for a date night. He and I walked around and looked at the large and varied selection of items to paint. We each chose our figures and sat down to work. Oh!! Unlike some other pain your own places there isn't an "artist fee" just to sit and paint. We had a great time painting and making the figures our own. My son felt he "messed up". He was helped to literally create a clean slate and start again. The second time he claimed perfection! We waited a week and picked up our creations. They were beautiful! We were very happy with the finished products :) While they offer snacks for sale (at a reasonable price), they didn't mind that I brought in my own water and snack! Some people have an issue with the no alcohol policy (no wine and paint nights). But the reason is they couldn't let children on the premises if they did that. This place is very family friendly and about connecting and having fun. I say paint and then go out for a cocktail elsewhere :). Again we had a great time and even though I thought I had no skills with their guidance and encouragement I was able to produce a pretty cool finished project. read more

This place is a creative haven. They have canvas painting, glass fusing, pottery painting, and clay. There are lots of books and pictures for ideas, and Kim (the owner) always helps you turn your ideas into beautiful finished products. The prices are very reasonable and the space is great for a peaceful, creative afternoon. There are also lots of classes so if you are interested in doing something new then it's a great way to get started. read more

Love love love this place. Kim and her family are so sweet. The husband is a little chatty but he means well. I have enjoyed painting here numerous times and trying the glass classes and canvas painting classes. I love all the different varietys of items to paint and all the fun seasonal things to paint. I do wish that they would begin to clean up there studio, like bringing in the plants and shaking the rugs after you leave, it just makes you feel rushed. I get it though, you want to go home just like anybody else. Just a suggestion. This place is great to take a kid... or anyone who wants to feel like a kid for a few hours. Its very simple 1. you walk in- greated by happy staff (you just know they love their job) 2. pick out a piece of pottery, and BAM your painting. When you're done, they take it and put it in a kiln and make it look all pretty!!! Kim is super helpful and friendly. She assists you with tips, advice, and suggestions the whole time. and Its glaze, not real paint so it just rinses right off with water Prices range and may seem a little steep, but keep in mind what your getting: Your piece itself, all the equipment & paint you need, handy staff, the whole 'kiln process' (to make it shiny & usable), and my favorite part ... I went in alone on a Friday night for some down time. It was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxing. The pottery options were so varied that it took forever to decide what I wanted. They provided everything and kept telling me, "We'll clean up, don't worry about that". When I went in to pick up my completed item, their sons helped me. Delightful kids. My husband and I went with friends for a night of "something different", to paint on canvas. We were dissapointed. It was pretty crowded and while we were painting, a group came in to paint some pottery. I happened to be sitting with my back to the shelves where the samples were that they needed to look at to chose the piece they wanted to work on. Because it was pretty tight quarters, people were constantly bumping into my chair which made it impossible for me to paint, all I could do was sit for about 15 minutes and wait for them to finish. The instructor, who I believe is the owner, was either having a bad day or she is burned out and disinterested in teaching a class. She started out strong but after the first hour, she was on the phone and not available to answer questions and from that point on she gave minimal instruction. Everyone at our table was asking "what are supposed to be doing ? " A half hour before we were to be done, they propped the door open (mind you, it's February and very cold outside) and spent the next 10 minutes bringing the plants, etc that they had outside their store. We felt rushed, cold and it was not clear as to what we were supposed to be doing. The cost for my husband and I was $76, which I don't mind paying if was having a good time. We will NOT be back. There are other studios that also serve wine or sparkling cider while you paint. That did not happen here. read more
