This place deserves a 5 Star for its ambience. This bar has lots of areas to play games or just sit and chill. The rooftop is the bomb. Beautiful view, lots of seating and TV's. They also sell Tacos at the entrance. Parking may not be enough, but there are spaces on the Main Street. They have fireplaces and heaters throughout the different spaces and have a stage. We will definitely be bank.

Fat Tuesday Pour House

I've read some of the reviews complaining about how staff treats customers and found that staff went out of their way to accommodate customers. I was there with a group for Fat Tuesday, I was warmly greeted by staff and my order of drinks were handled by bartenders quickly and in a friendly manner even though there was a crush of rowdy people in various states of inebriation. My only complaint was the dance floor was covered by tables and chairs seating six, when many more people would've enjoyed the dance floor

I love how this place has such a comfortable outside vibe...live music and cold adult drinks has this place going in the right direction. There is just something about this place, I don't know if it's the set up or just because it has it going on. There is such a cool outside vibe as you sit around barrels of fire and just listen to live music while enjoying your beverage...good job on keeping this place so cool...

So dumb this place is under a 4. Live music seven days a week, great staff and service. Fantastic vibe. Especially in the summer after the sun goes down. Very cool rooftop area. No food, but options nearby and you can bring inside.

My wife and I stopped by last night and had a great time sitting on the patio and listening to live music! Awesome place to hangout and relax!

You go way to the back and down a steep flight of stairs. My son, his wife, and I left my wife and grandbaby in the saloon and headed down. When you get down there, you are suddenly in a beautiful Tiki bar with so many amazing things to gawk at. It sort of felt like waking up in OZ. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why!

This is not a place to have a quick drink, as the bartenders really craft the art of the cocktail you order (expect 15-20 min for 2 drinks). I would love to come back and try more!

Cowboys & Cadillacs - Flat bread

Cowboys & Cadillacs

Came out tonight to check the night life of New Brainfels…read more We had such a great time at the farmers Market, was curious what the bats we saw down town would be like. We came to Cowboys & Cadillacs as it seemed like a cool place to go. They have dinning inside. But outside roof top there is a huge stage, and big fire pit. The second level is more seating and a bar. A lot of people were out. A couple "brides to be" with their party were out too. The band was good. Ordered a blueberry mojito. Very nice. Also ordered their flat bread pizza. Loved the bbq sauce that was on it. And picked jalapeños. Great night over all.

We had high hopes as the pimento cheese dip was fantastic, but that was short lived. The parisa is so expensive for one of the smallest portions and had essentially no taste. An $18 1/4 cup serving of parisa should have great flavor considering you can get fresh parisa from many local butchers with high quality ingredients for $10 a pound. The salmon croquettes were okay, but again, not worth the price. The service was some of the worst service we all have ever experienced. The waitress was nice, but very distracted and seemed to not care a whole lot about anything. She had 4 tables and we all were bonding over her lack of attentiveness throughout the night. It took over an hour to order our entrees and we all wished we would've just stopped at the appetizers and cocktails. The food was extremely hit or miss. My friend enjoyed her ribs and mashed potatoes and another enjoyed her pork chop. Everyone else had raw, undercooked meats, ranging from ribeye to chicken, and food that was not at the appropriate temperature. It was evident that the food had been sitting in the back waiting to be picked up and served to us. My Caesar salad with steak was truly the worst salad I've ever had, especially at a $22 price point. The lettuce was completely saturated with dressing and dripping everywhere. You could hardly see the lettuce itself because there was too much dressing. The $10 add on steak was unevenly cooked and came with literally 4 pieces of cut meat that was extremely salty that I could only eat one piece. And, the salad was served warm and was not crispy or cold. The burger was underwhelming and the meat was flavorless with two extremely thin patties. The best part of the dish were the fries, but they also weren't cooked thoroughly or seasoned well. The waitress noticed that I had not eaten much of the salad and asked if I liked it. I politely told her no and I didn't want to make a big deal about it. She asked what was wrong with it and I explained all of the aforementioned reasons. She said that was not okay and she would be back. She came back 20+ minutes later after our party tried to track her down to pay with failed attempts and asked me if I wanted the salad comp'd. I told her that she should follow whatever their procedures are and she replied that her manager told her to come talk to me because it's my decision whether or not I want the salad comp'd. I found this odd and unprofessional and again said that it is up to their management to operate to their protocols. The salad did get comp'd but we will definitely not be back to dine. At this point, we had reservations for the rooftop and it was equally as poor service if not worse. It is evident they do not have a clear system of how to let their servers know if they have a table seated or if someone needs something. While the location is beautiful and it has so much potential, the poor service and overall poor food make this place a complete waste of money and a 100% pass. There are plenty of phenomenal restaurants in the downtown area that are cheaper with higher quality meals and great service. Do not come here.

It has a classy, tasteful speakeasy vibe without feeling overdone or pretentious. They also have a private room that would be great for a special group gathering or a more intimate celebration. The grand piano in the room adds a really elegant touch and makes the space feel even more elevated. We went on a Monday night, so it's hard to say what the normal energy is like on a busier evening, but the overall atmosphere was still very pleasant. Service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. The only thing I would have loved was a little more creativity or guidance with the cocktails. The space gives the impression that you're about to get a true mixologist-style experience, but the recommendations we received were pretty standard, like Old Fashioneds and martinis. We were hoping for something a little more unique or original, maybe a twist on a Sidecar or an elevated take on a classic Old Fashioned. That said, it's still a beautiful spot with great ambience, pleasant service, and a very nice overall feel. I would definitely go back, especially on a busier night to see the full vibe.

Fortunately, if it can be considered fortunate, I had a total reverse shoulder replacement surgery a week before Thanksgiving this year. That gave me a "get out of kitchen" pass. We decided that Thanksgiving would be held at my son's house in New Braunfels. He and his wife have an 11.5 month old baby, so it's easier to do it there anyway. To simplify things, they shopped around, looking for a ready to serve, prepared Thanksgiving dinner. They selected the Black Whale because it was the most affordable, and they had heard good things about the place. The dinner package came with a turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, greenbean casserole, and a pumpkin or pecan pie. They chose the pecan pie. When my daughter-in-law went to pick up the meal, the Black Whale had also thrown in a loaf of bread and a small loaf of cranberry cornbread. Altogether, they more than gave us our money's worth for this meal. Everything about the meal was good. The turkey was moist, juicy, and flavorful. I don't know how they cooked it or how they prepared it before cooking, but it definitely had flavor throughout. The dressing came in a little round foil pan and looked like some kind of rolls. It was absolutely delicious! It had a little bit of turkey meat in it that gave it a great mouth feel. But the seasoning was what really made it great. The mashed potatoes were very buttery and delicious, even though they were a little runnier than I like. The gravy over all of it was very good. I am not a very big fan of green bean casserole. I liked it back in the day when it first started showing up. But, after so many decades, I'm kind of over it. This was really delicious. It had lots of extra flavors in it. I'm pretty sure they used bits of ham. Since I am a boomer, the green beans could've been cooked a little bit more. My generation likes them cooked to death. I really don't remember my mother using fresh green beans for anything back in the day. I wish they had given us a much larger loaf of the cranberry cornbread. It was amazing. I had never tried a cornbread with fruit in it before. This was moist, sweet, and tart at the same time. The pecan pie was very good. I only wish I had had some whipped topping or vanilla ice cream to put on it. It could've been homemade. I don't think there's really much they could have done to make this a better Thanksgiving feast. Our family was very happy with it. Kudos to the Black Whale for a job well done!
