What a great venue. This is an easy five stars place. The live music is on point. And Colin makes *excellent* espresso martinis.

I love this place but the cigar smoke is disgusting. One or two people can ruin it for all. Please discourage cigars!!

Place is cute. Even though it was cold and rainy there was enough cover and outdoor heaters. Margaritas on the rocks were nice and tangy. THE BAND (Roughstock) WAS PHENOMENAL. The lead singer has the best voice. The guitarist was super. He did a solo set that was great. Will definitely come back to see them! read more

I'll admit the first time here I was not a fan. Bad vibe, bad crowd. Girlfriend could not get me to go back. There are a lot of reasons I left California for Texas and pretentious people were high on the list and the first time I came to this joint it gave me flashbacks. However since she has been successful to convince me to go and glad I did. Turns out my first try was an anomaly. Music has been excellent. Staff is good. Prices are a bit high but not too bad. I don't think they have food but the pizza place across the way is and I saw people bringing them in and villa didn't seem to care. Give it a shot and if it isn't your thing the first time don't be stubborn like me. Try it again. read more

We came in at 10:50 pm and google maps said they close @ 12 am. As soon as we walked in we were told they were closed and already did last call. First-time visit and I'm sure we will be back as we now have kin living nearby. Service is stellar and the drinks are a strong pour. They do have a decent variety of local brews and some interesting wines by the glass. There is a nice comfy bar that you can belly up to and additional tables inside. The star is the spacious patio. There is not really a view off the back deck but there are TVs to catch a game. There is music and it varies from country to 80s to even salsa. The service here is best described as non existent. We walked inside & waited for the bartender to acknowledge us but she was too busy talking to what appeared to be friends of hers. 2 only because we have held so many events here and normally have great service with the guy bartender. today 06/25/2023 we went for bunch with friends, drinks came fast but the attitude from the bartenders was really unpleasant. We have always brought the kids and was never a problem till today when snarky loud comments were being made about us and our family. Even when we grabbed a trash can to clean up our mess a bartender came over and told us we needed to move it back immediately. This has never been my experience till today and makes me sad due to it being our go to spot for all events. We will make sure we know who is working from now on that is for sure. read more

Really nice place that seems a bit under rated to me. Has a nice patio with a spacious indoor area and a spectacular wine selection (obviously) with a full bar. Seems as though this place should have been way busier than it was for a Friday night which just means more room for you. :) I expect that this place will soon be discovered and be the hot spot to be at because the ambiance is chill, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the music when I went was excellent. If you're visiting the area and you find the wait times are ridiculously long for the better known places I'd re-route over here. Been here a few times for different things. What it started off as is not what it is now. Its not quite a bar, nor music venue, not a nice function facility, no longer a vineyard tasting room...More like a place that opens it's doors, serves alcohol and people can come and do what they wish. Recent visit for a band playing on Sunday... Arrived a 4pm band playing outside, walked inside for a drink, ran into children running around , some type of retail event going on and remnants of a private birthday celebration.. Bar was not busy, five people behind it. Small selection of craft draft, assorted bottled and canned beers, liquor and some very overpriced average wines. Sports on the screens behind the bar.. Chilly evening, outdoor heaters not on, no table service outside, tables unbussed and dirty. Different crowds came and went inside and out... Young couples with glasses of wine and infants, teens and young adults walking in with food and plopping down to watch the football games inside, locals wandering in from across the lawn in their sweats and slippers to grab a drink, have a smoke and takeover any empty seat they could find and drag the tables and chairs together like it was their personal watering hole with band ! Too Much! The band was OK, Soul Sessions, a local act that needed some presentation polish with their appearance... especially the lead singer and keyboard player, not professional in appearance, if you want more work. Anyway, this venue needs to decide what it wants to be and refine it. Poorly managed , oversized community living room for Gruene locals to hang out in, I would not consider booking any function there.. read more

Having a great girls weekend in Gruene until we walked in here. Bartender barely looked up and when asked about the "specialty cocktails" he told me that he couldn't make one right now. Well, grunted it at me is more accurate. He never asked if we wanted anything, never offered any help. We finally asked if we could order and he would just turn, pour and plop In front of who he assumed ordered the drink. bartender had an attitude from the get-go. she was bitter about children even being present, making comments about how they were "losing her business" and "making her lose her hearing" and also commenting how people couldn't hear the band over the children playing. This was 7pm, mind you. Just to even hear this kind of talk was unprofessional to say the least, but on top of that, service was terrible. People were ignored or greeted with hostility. Had a staff Christmas party here and it was great. Had the semi private room and it worked out well. The bartender Aaron was great and took great care us. We had our own bar set up in the room. We catered food and although the staff was a little inexperienced with serving, it all turned out well. Jennifer was awesome helping me get set up, food catered and served and our own private bar. She also arranged the live music to be set up outside instead of in the main bar so my staff felt like we had our own personal entertainment. A great bar, has inside seating and a large outside seating which is great at this time,They sponsor some great bands that play normally on the weekends. Full beer selection including some craft beers on tap a great wine selection, And mixed drinks. Staff is always friendly and place is kept very clean. Hello. I feel like I should share the lack of safety that was taken by the employees here. No one was wearing a mask at all! Yes it was a concert outside on a patio, but inside the bar the bartenders and the bus boy were not wearing a mask at all. Jen and her team at Villa at Gruene were AMAZING- the staff was flexible, friendly and they helped us make the rehearsal dinner a special extension of our wedding! We ordered catering through them from Cooper's BBQ, as well as the decor for the tables and the alcohol. Everything was affordable and unique and came together really nicely- the staff was so professional and let us make the venue our own! Good drink selection and happy hour specials, and lovely venue and scenery. I like their specialty cocktails and the live music is always good. We used to frequent this place (Wednesday night Ladies Night especially) before it went under new management and brought in different bartenders. These guys are unhelpful, unfriendly, and just a mood killer in general. I've had the same experience the last three or four times and now I'm just not going to go back anymore. When we'd walk to the bar to order they would just stare at us, not offering up a word or even a hint of a smile. Or sometimes not even look up, and ignore you altogether. Which is awkward when you're the only person at the bar. I'm not a chatty person but a friendly bartender is expected and appreciated. It's a wine bar in Gruene, not a biker bar in the Bronx.
