I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at the Powerhouse. I attended their NYE party with my husband and with expectations of a fun evening. We spent most of the evening wondering when we would be served and after the evening I became very unwell. We arrived just before 8:00 for our dinner reservations. It felt like we were stuck in a corner and forgotten for most of the evening. We were afraid to get up and dance for fear we would miss our waiter or food... To start off, we ordered drinks and when we received them, Toasted "cheers"; took a sip and then looked at each other and simultaneously said "there's no liquor in this drink". Kind of hard not to find the taste of gin in club soda if there is gin in the club soda. Same with rum and coke. Salads weren't served until about 9. Entrées were served about 10:15, lukewarm. We weren't served dessert and coffee until after 11 and only after people at another table asked their waitress to get it for us. Another coffee was requested but never came. To top it off - I had informed the Powerhouse on my reservation and the waiter directly of my allergies. I asked specifically about a side dish on the dinner plate, asking if it could contain one of the allergens and was assured that it did not. A side dish on the entrée plate contained an allergen. A call to the manager confirmed that there were allergens were in the side dish. She confirmed that my reservation indicated the allergy and the kitchen ticket noted it as well and all her staff were aware of the ingredients in the food. Never got an apology nor an explanation of how it happened. No know idea of what put me at risk and caused me to be deathly sick for two days and unwell for about two weeks. The manager suggested I return back for an evening out, but at that point she couldn't tell me what went wrong in their process and that it was fixed - they lost my trust. I wouldn't give even a Michelin Star restaurant a second chance to poison me. Eventually, I got a partial refund for the dinner. It will be the last time I prepay for a dinner and tip. My mom and I went to The Powerhouse for lunch on July 16. We sat out on the patio since it was such a nice day. Umbrellas in the table are situated right in the middle of the table (which is normal) but makes for awkward sight line to your dining partner so I had to sit off centre so we could see each other. Staff there are very friendly and attentive. We ordered the calamari to share. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and my mom ordered the mushroom flatbread. The calamari looked fabulous and came with a good portion of sauce for dipping. When we bit into the calamari it was so tough it was actually difficult to bite through. We each tried one piece then sent it back. The server was most accommodating and brought out another serving of it. This one was a bit better but not much. We had to send it back and it was taken off the bill. I was so disappointed as it looked delicious. My salad was ok. I think it costs around $17. Presentation is nice on a rectangular plate. Unfortunately the taste was rather uninspired. It looked to be just one kind of greens, some sliced beets, a SPARSE sprinkling of goat cheese and some sunflower seeds. Very skimpy with the balsamic dressing as well. Disappointing to say the least. My moms flatbread looked really good although it had way too much cheese on it, for flatbread. She said it was good but needed seasoning. She let me take her leftovers home and they were good but I added seasoning before I heated them up in my toaster oven. I used to love going to the Powerhouse and saw it as a special treat. I won't be going back though. read more

I had the chicken fingers and fries only I had a salad and it was very delicious. Very light batter on the chicken tender and the plum sauce was great. My father-in-law had the ribs half rack and he said they were very delicious the meat was tender. And my husband had the burger with the pineapple on it. I'm not sure what the name of it was but he said it was also quite good and the poutine was very good. We sat outside, so I'm not sure about the reviews of the inside and it's condition, but I did go inside and it wasn't filthy. So I give this place four stars and I think people should give a shot. My partner and I were in Hamilton checking out some of the waterfalls and stopped here for lunch afterwards. It's about a 5 minute drive from the Devil's Punchbowl. They have a large private parking lot. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess outside. There were markers on the ground to ensure you keep distance due to Covid. They have their menu via a QR code. We were seated on their large back patio with lots of space in between tables (there was also a patio at the front). I ordered the wonton nachos. They were really good! The wontons were so crunchy and held lots of toppings. My partner had the burger and fries. He said it was good, but wishes they gave him more mayo. Friendly, safe service. A solid 5 stars. I'd come back here again if I'm in the area. read more

Our family went to the power house in Stoney Creek for dinner tonight, I will say the food was very good, we enjoyed our dinner. I got the honey chicken club with a side ceased salad and fries, my daughter got pasta with butter, my other daughter got the kids chicken wings and fries, and my wife got beet and goat cheese salad and a poutine. Everything tasted great. Now for the unfortunate parts, during our meal the fruit flies were really bad, constantly having to wave them away and it got to the point where we could not keep them off the poutine, I actually was able to reach in and grab the fruit fly and squish it they were so big and plentiful. The service seemed poor, our server took our order then dropped the food and it was about 20 minutes for our check in which an empty water glass and an empty Pepsi glass but had food in my mouth and couldn't answer to ask for a refill. We did not see her again. Another server ended up checking on us as I was looking around for our server and she got us a refill and said she would ask our server to come by. About 10 minutes later she did and seemed annoyed that she was there. I would go back for the chicken wings if it was not for the service and fruit flies, I don't think I can go back. read more

Ordered this: "Ground chuck smash burger topped with a Coors Original tomato bacon chutney, Provolone cheese, baby arugula, and roasted garlic aioli $20.95" 45 minutes after we sat down, what finally arrived was a burnt-to-a-crisp tiny, not-juicy burger on the worst gluten-free bun I've ever experienced. Burnt embers on sawdust. Waitress explained that, in Canada, burgers must be cooked for a half hour by law. What? As a Canadian, I'm surprised as the burger I had in Lakefield, ON with a GF bun was thick, juicy, amazing, and memorable and sure didn't take a half hour to cook. The very opposite of this one. Daughter had a sandwich that was just OK. Ambiance is great. Service slow. read more

We recently went out for lunch with our father in law that is 104. There were 8 of us. Firstly I was surprised that there was no lunch menu so you are forced to pay dinner prices at lunch. We have honestly spent too much time already with our family talking about how disappointing each of our meals were. The only people who liked their meal was someone who had calamari. Thai noodle bowl - won't go into detail just how poor it was. Salads were so very very very poor.. lettuce that was past its due date.. and didn't have anything near what should have been in it.. We asked what it was and the young hostess said it was the ceiling peeling off. she told us it was nothing! we asked to move again. This time we were seated at a wooden table with 4 wooden chairs. The food is hit miss. I have had lunches before Covid and everything was good. I ordered a beef yorkie. The chef and the servcer should be reminded that yorkshire pudding is not dark brown and like cardboard. I would not send my dinner back as it would have embarrassed the person who took us to dinner. My husband and I went on June 19th and ordered the lemon salt and pepper calamari which was so sour and salty your face puckered up while eating it. I would not recommend this dish to anyone. My husband got a burger which was at best, mediocre. I ordered the quesadilla which was okay, it seemed very rushed. The veggies inside the tortilla were uncooked and the chicken was dry. We waited over 15 minutes on a rainy (dead) afternoon during a shift change for our waiter to come and clear our plates. Definitely will not be going back. The outdoor patio and music playing were the highlights of our meal. read more

My family and I have been coming to the PH for years, and usually have a great experience and good food. HOWEVER, based on our visit today it is likely that we will never return!!! We work hard for our money and have no interest in giving it to an establishment that doesn't value its customers. We were at the Binbrook Fair this morning and, instead of eating overpriced-greasy-carnival food, my children and I decided to stop at the PH for lunch on our way home. Our blonde waitress, who's name I don't even care to know, was the personification of the word B*TCH! She never smiled once (RBF), wasn't pleasant or polite to the children, tossed things on the table with an "I don't give a sh*t" attitude, never did a quality check on our meal, never asked if we needed any condiments, and never asked if we wanted beverage refills despite walking past our table several times during our meal. I might be more understanding if the place was packed, but there were only 4 other tables that I could see and another waitress who was also working, so it's not as if she was being run off her feet. I left a quarter tip on the table because it was the smallest piece of change I had on me, and in retrospect, it was perhaps too generous. I don't know what crawled up her *#&^$*@ and died, but it's YOUR JOB to make people feel welcomed, to enjoy their experience, and to want to come back. COLOSSAL FAILURE!!! Set in front of small green space/ sitting area, this restaurant looks like a nice casual place from the outside and inside. Had dinner here today with a mentor and some colleagues. Got a few apps - sweet potato fries (classic dish; a bit disappointing though; they are a bit too crunchy), calamari (the usual), and the powerhouse nachos (which aren't as exciting as the name sounds); we ordered some pretty typical apps, nothing too exciting. for dinner, I got the Portobello mushroom burger, which the waitress immediately warned me about as not having a bun - interesting way of service. But guess what, there is actually a bun....so weird...its served like a normal burger. The mushroom is well-grilled, although to be honest, I have bought and grilled larger portobellos myself. its dressed with caramelized onions and a slice of grilled halloumi cheese (which was decent).
