Came here on an evening in September and sat on the patio (the hostess told us we could sit wherever we wanted and watched us head out there and I guess didn't let the waitress for that section know that we were out there so we waited 10-15 minutes to be greeted). My boyfriend and I decided to have a drink and share the quesadilla - the waitress had the kitchen split it onto two plates so we didn't have to be sharing one plate across the table which was nice. The lights on the patio made for a nice ambiance. The food is very good and I'll be eager to come back again and try more of their menu! read more

This is our go to local pub. Very wide menu selection of Pub fare but tasty items. Good beer and wine selection at a fare price. For some reason they have stopped serving asparagus with the Steak and mushroom stew. The asparagus used to set it apart. Now I usually have the briskets and dip sandwich. Staff have become rather service lazy with an aloof edge since the pandemic. Possibly too many tables for the number of servers. It looks like, smells like, sounds like, it must be a pub. read more

The weather on a summer Saturday couldn't be any better than this, a heavy downpour in the late noon & then the sun shone brightly enough before setting for the day, ensuring the weekend is enjoyed with a chilled beer!! We wanted to spend a relaxed & quiet eve with a drink or two in the neighborhood!! So hopped on to "The Pipes & Taps Pub"!! This pub has a beautiful hood-vibes with a nice patio & a cool interior inside. The covid protocols are maintained well & the staffs are very friendly & service is nice & quick!! Food menu is a normal pub standard.. We ordered a chicken strips & loved the food & the quantity is pretty decent, it was well flavored & fresh with an amazing sauce!! They have a great variety of tap & craft beers & the cool glasses the beers are served in are certainly a mood lifter!! Loved the overall relaxed cozy cool vibes of the place & definitely coming back again!! Cheers to this gem tucked comfortably in an upscale neighborhood. Absolutely the best pub in Oakville, amazing food and service and the best beer selection

So this my first COVID restaurant review. We decided the weather was too good to not check out a patio. This pub is obviously a locals' favourite hang out, we noticed numerous customers knew the staff and there was a general neighbourhood vibe to the place. The patio is a decent size and while there isn't a great view, it's not a busy street either. The efforts made to prevent COVID was pretty good: they took down a name and phone number from each party for contact tracing purposes, they required reservations so there are no line ups, hand sanitizer is available everywhere and there are floor markings inside. None of their staff wore masks though. In terms of food, the selection is pretty standard pub stuff. My husband ordered the fish tacos which comes with crispy waffle fries ("kettle chips" on the menu) and I had the fish and chips. Everything tasted good and fresh. The stand out for me was the homemade tarter sauce. Delicious! Great selection of beer on tap. Pricing is standard and service was pleasant. This is a solid pub. read more

Came here in between work shifts. It was Sunday night and they were offering a limited menu. That said, what was on the menu was quite eclectic. I ended up ordering Gyoza and hot wings (I know, not normally things you'd find together). As simple as gyoza is, there's was really good and beautifully garnished. Hot wings were terrific with the perfect amount of crispness and not being drowned in sauce. Also, they were another spice level than most places which I like. The place is fairly classic British pub, but is well lit and not run down at all. As an aside, I happened to be there on their inaugural Sunday night Karaoke. So if that's your thing, be sure to be there on Sundays. The DJ can sing too! Not sure how often I'll be in the area; but there's no doubt it warrants another try if I am and I would recommend that anyone try it out. read more

Recently, A group of my friends had made a reservation which was confirmed. We called back and asked if we could change the time by pushing it back an hour and the owner said it was okay and space was available. After cancelling the first reservation, and instantly booking the second, our reservation was not accepted (despite being told there was space and somebody would accept it later in the week). I decided to call back and was curious to know why and was greeted with a rude tone of voice from the female owner Tricia. Apparently she had double booked and was in denial about admitting their mistake. If you tell customers they have space and that you can move their reservation, don't go back in your word, very unprofessional. For our party, we had 3 people from the halton region and 1 from Markham. Although she informed us that the one person from Markham will not be allowed as per restaurant rules with the current pandemic, we were confused because he had gone to the restaurant 2 times prior that month and nothing was said when he was ID'd for his drinks but now he's being denied. If you are gonna implement these best practices, you need to be thorough and clearly indicate that on your website. Anyways, adhering by those rules, she was still adamant about not moving our reservation or even allowing only the members from the halton region to dine. Her exact words "Go book somewhere else" because she couldn't answer our questions. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant nor will be booking here anymore. Edit: As stated above, he was ID'd for his drink. People don't take time out their day to write false negative reviews on random businesses unless situations occur. Hopefully you can use this as a learning experience as management needs training. Good luck with sustainability. read more

"Check Out This Place...In a Good Mood!" The Pipes and Taps bar is located in a newer subdivision near the Walmart, on a quiet street. It's great to be able to park in front for free, at least at the moment. The ambiance is loud and the crowd comprised of a mix of larger groups and couples with a small bar area. On a Friday night at 7pm, the place was full with 2 couples ahead of us. However one of the larger community tables opened up and we were seated quickly. Robyn greeted us at the door and was our awesome cheery waitress. The large Christmas tree in the front gave the room a festive spirit and live music later raised spirits even more. The menu is a basic combination of "pub food" items with burgers, sandwiches a few salads and Mexican dishes. The beer selection is a little small given the concept behind the name however you'll be able to find something you like. The food is well-presented and maybe looks a bit better than the taste. The burgers were a bit "sloppy" but with a good taste. We had the Swiss Mushroom Burgers. Pipes is a great place to social, speak loudly and unwind. The food is good and the service is friendly and attentive. And in time, everyone "will get to know your name". read more

I was pleasantly delighted by the high quality food and commensurate level of service at a pub. My wife and daughter had the fish tacos and my son and I had the halibut and chips. We started off with a order of onion rings that came hot, tasty and was a huge portion, more than enough for all four of us to share. We actually did not finish it. The fish was the star of the show, tender, tasty and delicate battered just right. The salad for the fish tacos were fresh and well put together. Bravo, would highly recommend and really quite surprised at quality for a neighbourhood pub. Will try other very diverse items on menu next time.....pork sui mai and Thai vegetarian spring rolls in a pub...wow! read more

Great local pub - nice atmosphere and service. Nachos and caprese salad were good and kids liked their wings. We went again last week. I had the quesadillas and a side of tomato soup. The quesadillas were good and the soup was outstanding. They had a promotion where families get 10 percent off if cell phones are put in a basket during your visit. read more

Passing through Oakville and looking for a gourmet burger? Keep on driving. Given, we dropped by at a weird time (late afternoon on the weekend) and there was a paint event going on. Our server brought our drinks and asked if we needed a minute before we ordered. She came back about 12 minutes later (had her back to us while watching TV). Really great find in an unexpected place. The food is really, really good. We had the mozzarella sticks as a starter, which would have been just "ok" were it not for an absolutely stellar marinara sauce. Perhaps the best I've ever had. I had the halibut and chips, and was very happy that the tartar sauce was house made. None of the plastic packets here. The bReading on the fish was great. Crispy and not too thIck. The halibut was very nicely cooked and a HUGE portion. My husband had the turkey club, and said it was great. It certainly looked good. Oh, and it was real turkey --not processed! I read a previous review that complained about small portion sIze. Not sure if things have changed or if they just have different expectations. We found the portions massive, and would probably share an entree next time. One word of caution: Tuesday is trivianight, and we arrived to find every table reserved except for one. If we'd arrived a few minutes later we would have missed out on this treasure. If going on a Tuesday you may want to get there early. read more

Found myself in Oakville and my mom suggested I eat here. Classic pub ambience but most importantly, superlative halibut and chips. If the fish is any indication, I will return to try each and every one of their pub food items. Two complaints: 90's music too loud, and for the love of god put something other than sports on ONE of the tv's. Only having golf to watch in my peripheral vision was like watching paint dry. For a pub the fare was standard, but the prices were $1-2 a bit higher than I think it was worth in terms of food, but it is okay because they don't hurry you out with a bill and you can linger after your meal over good conversation. Their hamburger, fish and chips is ok, not exceptional, but good for simply a quick bite on a weeknight if you don't want to cook. They update their special foods pretty frequently and regularly have trivia nights and live bands. The food is decent but honestly WAY too expensive for what it is. When comparing with the neighbourhood I'd rather go somewhere else. Chicken Green Curry has strange cuts of chicken for a curry, and very clearly uses frozen vegetables. What a terribly disappointing evening here tonight. We made reservations for our group of 18 expecting them to be prepared. Hospitality was fine, not bad, not great but lacking a sense of genuine care. Orders were taken quickly and drinks arrived in a timely way. However meals came at crazy varied times, some of us were finished before others were served. Wait person was professional about it but no one really seemed to care, the excuse being there were only two people in the kitchen and our order was complicated due to split bills. Dah, that's why we made a reservation in advance. All in all, average food, below average service and non existent management care or interest in customer experience or satisfaction. Nice enough place but real work to do before a return visit would be earned. Other places genuinely care, this place seems not to.
