I randomly was mentioning to a coworker of mines about refinancing my home since mortgage rates went down exceedingly during the Covid-19 pandemic. I purchased a townhome March of 2018. Single person income, with student loan debt then later a new car, that I initially planned to pay off at least within 5 years. My interest rate was 5.25%. I was in shock to hear of the opportunity of getting a 3.5% interest rate, which would of course lower my monthly payments. I previously attempted to refinance with a different company I initially started off with. They told me that I am only eligible for a 30yr fixed at 3.3%.
