Was given a quick appointment at new location, Furlogy, which I was grateful for. My dog has…read moreepilepsy so he was medicated as I had explained to groomer and woman at front desk. Groomer came out - had a brief convo about his meds and the look. She, Meli, didnt really try to connect with Bo at all - petting, eye contact, etc- which I found a bit disarming and walked back to the groom room. Very cold atmsphere overall. Bo was done in 2 hours- and I was told he had trouble standing and was asked if he had leg issues and explained again he was medicated to lessen the stress due to the epilepsy. Was told he was being charged as an x-large dog ( he is 65 pds). He had never been considered an xl before and I didnt understand the charge..Grooming was terrible .. Paid and left. Heres where the larger problem begins. Decided to speak to owner before I would write a negative review. She called back promptly - she was defensive, angry and although did ask what I wanted to make it better (I should of said full refund but didnt want her to yell at me more than she already had). She said grooming costs are basically subjective as to what the groomer wants to charge and how long the groom takes. She said my dog was OVERmedicated and thats why there may have been an issue, but then added that many dogs come in medicated and that I should be more understanding of the grooming issues because I dont know her business etc etc Basically, she spoke over me the entire time nastily and defensively and I was responding with "oh my gd" because I could not believe how I was being yelled at. I had to hang up the phone- could not get a word in edgewise and the defensiness and berrating continued when she called back. She said I kept "coming at her" and didnt have answer an answer for her question "what can I do to make it right". Honestly- I dont even know what would make it right. Maybe a kinder simpler conversation. So much disrespect and defensiveness tells me that it isnt the 1st time shes had complaints. She told me that her place "was not the place for me" No sht! New to the area- terrible 1st grooming experience.. Very disappointing...

This review summarizes my experiences during that period of time. To help the reader better understand certain comments, I also summarize my experiences at Purr n'Pooch (Wall ) which was Buster's prior camp. He visited there on 40(forty) or so occasions. CAMP BOW WOW I can honestly say I have had no problems in all the times Buster has visited there. The staff are great and the business is professionally run.I always pick Buster up unannounced. He never smells, has never been injured there and has never come home with diarrhea or other maladies associated with day care On only one occasion was he dirty when i went to pick him up. The staff offered to hose him off and dry him at no charge. . .They have new dogs visit the camp for up to half a day free of charge so they can be evaluated prior to allowing them to board and interact with the other dogs. The prices at Camp Bow Wow are reasonable and the check-in/check-out times are great. If you board your dog for, say, one night, you can drop him off as early as 7am and pick him up as late as 7pm the following day. The charge is for one night only - $49- regardless of dog size. The camp has transparency. By that I mean that if you board the dog there you are given the schedule for the day. They tell you when he will be outside, meal times etc and you can check to see how your dog is doing on their webcams. If your dog is on medication they will take care of that for you during his stay free of charge. As regards the staff at Camp Bow Wow, I have found them, without exception, to be very friendly and courteous It is clear to me the people at this facility care about your dog's well-being. Phone calls are returned and check-ins / check-outs are done efficiently. I read the other Yelp reviews of this camp. Make sure you read the camp rebuttals. Two reviews were written by owners of dogs that may have auditioned for the role of Cujo. We have Samantha W. with her darling pit bull and Melissa F with her growling/snarling treasure They rated the camp a 1 star. I read them as 5 stars and you should too. I am pleased the camp took a pro-active approach to safeguard the other dogs mine included . April S. what were you thinking? Next time board your old handicapped dog at RBVH PURR N'POOCH - WALL LOCATION Camp Bow Wow is not convenient for me since I live in Wall and it was not Buster's first camp. After he had his puppy shots . I took him to Purr n'Pooch in Wall. He went there for around 6 months - typically for day care twice a week- 40(forty) or so visits. Buster is a therapy dog and has been since he turned one. He visits two different hospitals and an elementary school . One day when I went to pick him up, the woman at the counter launched into a tirade and told me he was a "destructive dog" and that I should get "up-charged" for damage. She told me he had chewed on the wood table in the dog play area that the staff used for lunch. Duh! Who puts a wood table in the big dogs play area and assumes it won't get chewed on? She apologized the next time I was there. This incident was the last straw. Many times, and particularly during the summer, Buster would reek of stale urine after his visit. The astroturf area and pool may look good in their website pictures - they just don't work very well. One day he smelled so bad, I didn't even want to put him in the car. The next time, I asked the person behind the counter if Buster could be hosed off in the afternoon so he didn't smell. Let's be clear here - not give him a bath - just hose him off. The person told me they could do that for an "up-charge" of $10 each time they did it. "Up-charge" is the favorite word in the Purr n'Pooch vocabulary. Over the course of his stays at Purr n'Pooch I had to take him to the vet on a number of occasions for diarrhea presumably a consequence of the the astroturf / pool stinkfest As to boarding cost, Purr N'Pooch charges you extra for larger dogs. Do hotels charge a higher room rate for fat people on the basis of wear and tear to the furniture and bed springs?. Purr n'Pooch actually has no end of ways to "up-charge" you- tummy rub $10; twilight walk $10 and on and on..Some services aren't priced The bill for those could cause the same reaction as a colonoscopy without anesthesia . On a brighter note, the website proudly proclaims they won't charge you extra if you supply your own dog food!! Their check out time for boarding is horrible.11am. If you pick-up a couple of hours later they don't charge a pro-rated day care rate. No - you pay for another full night.. Why so early? They need from 11am until 7am the next day for the gargantuan task of cleaning the dog's sleeping area for the next occupant. Come on, really. It seems clearly designed to often force you to pay for two nights when you only needed one with a reasonable check out time.

I have been taking my sheepadoodle to Camp Bow Wow Eatontown for over 3 years, since he was one…read moreyear old. We have always loved Camp Bow Wow. My dog would go once a week for camp and get groomed there as well. I loved the staff and environment so much that I referred people and always wrote raving reviews. However, this changed when my 55 lb sheepadoodle was attacked by a 100+ lb rotweiler during camp one day. A man called me while I was at work to inform me of the incident stating there was a "fight" and that my dog had a puncture wound in his back. "Its up to you but we recommend vet treatment". Not once did he tell me my dog was okay and whenever I asked a question, his response was "we can talk more when you get here". On that day I was at an office over an hour away so I couldn't get there quickly. I called my vet, told them the situation and made an emergency appointment as I did not know the true extent of the injuries nor the overall condition of my dog. I then called my parents as they were close and could get to him faster. I then called Camp back to inform them of the arrangements and the same man answered the phone. When I asked for the other dogs medical records, as my vet asked about the dog's vaccination record, I was met with a rude tone stating "I can't give you that, that is proprietary information". I then asked if the other dog was okay to which I was told the other dog had no injuries but once again "we can discuss more once you get here". He also made the point multiple times that Camp Bow Wow is not liable for any of my vet bills and its up to the other dog's owner if they choose to pay. Once my parents got there, the only person who would talk to them was this man who was very rude and showed no empathy for our situation or my dog. He also went from recommending vet treatment to saying "if it was my dog I wouldn't even bother bringing him to the vet". The rest of the staff who has always been super warm and welcoming, avoided them like the plague as if they were told not to talk. It later came out (by another employee) that this rotweiler had been boarding with them for over a week and once released into the daycare play group, he went right for my dog and attacked (not a fight). Once brought to the vet, it was found that he had not one but TWO puncture holes (one on his back that camp saw and one on his side that was far worse). Given the location of the wounds, it had to be two bites not one. Luckily, he did not need stitches just a couple weeks of antibiotics. Overall, the vet said he was very lucky and it could have been a very different story. After the vet, we called Camp back to update. The SAME MAN answered the phone and honestly did not care about there being two puncture holes and almost seemed bothered that we called to update them. Camp sent me a generic email asking for an internal review (which they have done in the past periodically and I have ALWAYS given very high marks). This time however I gave them a very poor rating and a long review explaining my experience. I wasn't upset necessarily about the incident (they are dogs and things happen). It was more about the way it was handled, lack of empathy and the rude manor I was talked to. I never received a call nor a response to the point that I CALLED Camp to talk to a manager. The manager I talked to was very sweet and apologized for how I was treated. I explained that given our history we would like to come back but the experience left me hesitant. She said she would talk to the owners as I felt as a business owner you would want to know about such a horrible experience. A few days later, the same manager called to tell us that "the owners decided it was best that we part ways". NOT because they were worried about how my dog would react with other dogs BUT BECAUSE of my honest internal review I left them. Turns out this man is one of the owner's fathers and they did not appreciate the feedback. So...after being a customer for over 3 years and spending around 10k with them (estimated based on camp packages and grooming bills) we were NO LONGER WELCOMED due to a review they didn't like. Beware, they care only to a certain point and when you need them to care the most they will discard you the minute they don't like what you have to say.
