Spoiler Alert : this was great ! How objective can I be ? Coz, you see, this was my very first Sunday Roast, like, ever. It's kind of a religion here, well, I don't have to tell you that. 27 pretty great reviews & their convenient location in Shepherds Bush led us to Princess Victoria ! A draught Kozel (Czech beer), a delicious piece of lamb leg with vegetables, and that crazy thing in the middle called Yorkshire pudding, (yes, first time here as well)...everything was delicious, and well balanced. The Bread ! THE BREAD :) Add a couple of friends and their baby, and it's the perfect sunday for me. The place looks fantastic, very "kingdom-like" a,d it's huge, making it convenient for families and their prams, but also for big groups of 6 people or more, or, for animals. Yup, this place is dog-friendly ! I guess my "sunday-roast" bar is now set pretty high right ?

This newly restored and refurbished pub / gastro is sure to be a winner with the local clientele. A bight and airy feel to this Victorian building, with a large bar area and plenty of space and tables to enjoy your food. When I visited the barman who it later turned out was the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful from the minute I walked through the door. Situated on the Uxbridge road it is a good walk from Shepherds bush green and is nearly on Askew road or the beginning of Acton. Those looking for a clean and relaxing place to go and chill should seek this one out. As long as it can get people up there, it will fly and be a really good pub / eatery. 2 courses for a tenner or three for £13.50at lunchtime consisting of crab bisque / apple cured herrings/Smoked bacon, black pudding, roasted tomato, poached egg and peppercorn sauce followed by spiced brioche doughnuts- Hope you like fish !! Or choose form the main menu which includes cod, lamb or a rib eye for around £14. Various deserts staring at £5. Dinner menu changes all the time, I hope they offer a bit more than the lunch which was a bit limited for me. A simply amazing private dining area upstairs which is fit for a king and a market going on outside on a Saturday bringing you produce from there suppliers, good luck to them in their new venture.

I absolutely love this place and now that they have rooms I may have to move in! The scotch eggs are to die for and everything else on the menu is delicious. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere perfect. Did I say that I love this place?

Bad news. It's closed down as of July 1st 2017. A real shame. It was a great pub. The parent company shut it suddenly without the staff knowing.

A great pub in Shepperds Bush, perfect for a Sunday lunch with friends (we had a large table with friends and children for a birthday). The old Victorian pub has been beautifully restored and is split in two large rooms. The first one is set around a large bar with plenty of space and light around, and teh second one is the restaurant area with a very large table in teh middle (we were close to 20 on it) with light coming from the ceiling and a nice deco all around. The food was good, especially main courses but starters were not too inspiring. They have a wide wine selection at reasonable prices. Overall a great pub experience in a fantastic setting, we may be back although we are not quite local but I would like to try this in the summer.

Came all the way out here just for The Aviator and the pub was out of the creme de violette to make it. Total waste of time.

Still, I followed a…read morefriend's recommendation to come down for a jazz open mic on a Friday night and I almost missed it. Once inside you are in pub heaven with a traditional looking lounge at the front, you almost walk into the bands as you enter the pub but there's plenty of seating to enjoy the music from a safe distance too. You pass through another section before the place opens up to the main bar at the back. It has quite a continental feel to it, and I can't believe I didn't immediately spot the massive vats at the back - I was too busy admiring the statues on the bar. And it's difficult not to be tempted by the selection of beers when in a brewery and I didn't regret my choice of Achtung. They also serve food and while the main menu is limited to sausage rolls and pies you can also order pizza or sushi which is delivered directly to your table by local takeaways. I'll definitely be back, a real gem.

Their Early Doors IPA was always likely to be my favourite, but I also enjoyed Dark Matter, 2 O'clock Ordinary and their Weissbier called Achtung! Good brewery. We stayed long enough to warrant some food. The burgers looked delicious, but we decided to go for 3 snacks for a tenner. This meant we could both have a snack of our choice and also share some chips. I enjoyed the luxury fish fingers! (No Captain Birdseye here!)

Third, the staff- from the time we entered to the time we left- were all friendly. We ate in the upstairs dining room, which has lovely high ceilings and a large room with dark wood tables and typical pub seating. The kitchen is upstairs and we got a table next to it but surprisingly and pleasantly discovered later we didn't smell like food. Now the drink. My husband and I split two bottles of a bottle cider, a peach flavour I think, and it was quite good. Lots of drinking options including cocktails. Now the food: As a veghead, I was happy at the variety of pizza, main and tapas options. The food prices are a bit high, especially for the tapas, so I ordered the least expensive veg main, the broad bean purée and broccoli rabe flatbread. My husband got a spicy pizza with nduja sausage. My dish arrived fairly quickly and I was confused at first; I thought it was the wrong order. It comes as a soup with stewed rabe and two pieces of crispy bread like pappadam. This is not how I envisioned flatbread: food atop a slice of dough like pizza. The waiter was so concerned and offered to take it back but I hate food waste so I plowed in. It was actually good- not fantastic- with a very thick purée and the sautéed rabe blending well. There is a lot of rabe and the constant chewing can get a bit tiresome but overall I liked the dish although I think it's better on a cold night as it's served piping hot. The flatbread pieces are bland. My husband said his pizza was good but much spicier than he expected. I nibbled on the pizza crusts and liked the chewy dough. One of the best experiences of the night was the waiter TBH. His attention to customer service- asking how our food was, if we wanted anything else, etc- was as if we were back in the US. I felt I had entered a country warp! SO rare in London to have that good service!
