Amy (sales) is not only THE most friendly, responsive and kind person, she's organized, thoughtful, and sincerely cares. The planning was seamless and thorough. ALL pre-event phone calls made me feel at ease, like every detail would be managed exactly how I wanted it. Quinton and Brian were PHENOMENAL to work with, both ahead of the event and during. Even so much as their on-site support (Igor was the best!) had everything on point. I've never experienced such a cohesive and positively supportive TEAM like theirs. I'm generally an optimistic person, but I have to say, I was WOWed every single step of the way.   THANK YOU sincerely to Amy, Quinton, and Brian for everything you do. I've never had a worse check in experience and I was grateful for witnesses to the behavior of the…read moremanager, C, and the employee, J, during the evening we arrived. After driving 5.5 hours to get there for a conference, I discovered that my reservation had not been properly made with a credit card authorization. I had an email from the person at my company who booked it, saying that she spoke to hotel management who said she did not need a specialty form. This would make it THE HOTEL's FAULT. I showed this email repeatedly to the staff, along with the confirmation email she had received, indicating she paid for the hotel. There was no tax summary, no final total, which would be over $820 I found out. The clerk said this was fees and taxes. The rooms booked are $150 a night, so that $450 nearly doubled upon arrival. The man, J, was nearly instantly rude to me, not listening to what I was telling him, no apologizing, telling me that everything was laid out in my confirmation. I have a doctorate and I was reading the confirmation my company contact sent me -- there were no details included, no link, nothing. He basically stopped talking to me and called for a manager, rudely. I looked over to where the manager, C, was, and despite looking like she was about 15 years old, she was really nice to a woman who was attending the Sam conference, complaining of broken AC and her room. Without proof, the manager was very kind, apologetic, calming, so I had hope. Alas, I am a fat woman and clearly that wasn't welcome here. The tone was immediately bad and I even asked the desk guy, J, what I possibly could have done for them to be kinder to me. Immediately, when the manager came over, she just jumped right in and said that I was wrong and too bad, I needed to pay $820, sorry that's policy. They kept saying the word policy to me, but I was trying to show them an email including their own forwarded information. This girl tries to tell me about "lawsuits" from charging credit cards, and I finally tell her I'm a law professor and I get it. She blames ME for the reservation being made improperly and not knowing their terms. It was like they've never had someone from a business stay at their hotel. I finally handed her my phone which she eagerly took to try and prove me wrong, but she also couldn't find the information they both insisted I must know, and she then declared it must be a convention booking issue -- like that excuses this? She didn't seem to understand (repeatedly) that at 10:30 at night, I cannot get in touch with a financial specialist of one of the largest university systems in the world. She walked away from the counter, refused to even look up any information about the phone call the financial specialist had, despite me giving her a date, area code, and 3-4 hour time window in which the call happened. She was dismissive and waved me off. Eventually, she says "what we have done in the past is charge one night and hold the other two until the finances can be resolved" and I had to ask these two people if the understood how different a temporary charged $270 was versus $820. The manager, C, rudely told me "well we were trying" and rolled her eyes at me and inferred I had been the problem. I had to explain to them that a customer should be allowed to ask questions to resolve a situation. Also, my colleague was told that she would be charged a $60 hold and the credit card POS showed $60. She was actually charged $60 per day, which wasn't clear from the transaction. She watched these people treat me poorly and was deeply angered. The cherry on top was an email from another customer service manager about my experience who gave a boiler plate apology and reinforced that this was "policy." They did not ask what happened, more detail, etc. I will not come back here and will actively avoid any event held here in the future. This was the worst customer experience I've had at any hotel.

Now for renting and I'm not sure on timing, but I know it wasn't cheap anywhere from 1500-2000 depends on if you have the catering package. Mind you, my cousin's mother side of the family did their own catering. They also hired a DJ and I believe it was one of the owners that was the bartender drinks that were included with that party at no additional cost were Coke products and bottled water. Parking is primarily in the front however there is a road in the back of gravel road that if you're wanting to surprise somebody that you can park in the back. I would suggest contacting the owners regarding pricing timing, etc.. Cons: nobody knew when the DJ and the bartender were going to show up, but we also didn't know on exact times since it was all planned through the teenagers's mom.

We took our bags out to our car parked out front - lots of street parking, very nice street - and walked across to the biggest farmers market I have ever been to! Extremely cool, but wait, let me tell you the rest of the story about our stay here. We checked in Friday evening about 5:00 and were greeted by Jordi at the front door. Extremely personable, he welcomed us in and I immediately felt like part of the family. After showing us our room, the kitchen and the outdoor pool, he gave us some tips on dining in the area. It ended up being a nice Mexican place close to the Botanical Gardens where we attended an evening "after hours" with cocktails and live music. All this was easy walking so we didn't need worry about driving after drinking. We walked back along the west side of the gardens and then back to the Casa along Magnolia Avenue. It was 95 degrees at 9 pm and we were hot. After changing into our bathing suits we jumped into the outdoor pool. Wow, Jumping in the pool was so refreshing and We had it all to ourselves. A great nights sleep led to an early morning cup of coffee and a first class breakfast. More food was served than I could eat, but all was very fresh, well thought out and prepared. The tables were not so close together that you could hardly move. One had plenty of room to get up leave the table and walk around easily. The bar staff were very busy but remained calm, friendly, and professional throughout the five hour reception. There was a seated dinner and the food was served at the proper temperature. Too often, meals come out a little cool at big events. The food was good! While the entire staff were very busy, they remained pleasant and at times seemed to be enjoying what they saw in the dance floor! The physical space was very clean and fresh looking - this involved the spaces for the ceremony, dinner and dancing, the wide halls, the women's room, etc. It was definitely one of the nicer venues I've been to and I would recommend checking it out for your event!

The building houses a hotel, event center and meeting rooms. I cannot speak to a hotel stay. A paid parking garage is in the rear and a short walk to the building. Our event was around 200 and included a dinner buffet. The food was provided by the center, I thought everything was top notch from venue to food. The organizers did relate that prices for catering had shot up 30% since last year. I think the staff did a marvelous job with our event and would recommend.

Natalie was always quick to respond to questions, and was a great help at making suggestions to reduce/enhance the budget. We had our guest numbers bounce around so it went both directions at different times. They were really flexible in the set-up, entrance and timing. The food was delicious, and they had a huge number of options for appetizers, entrees and sides. I got compliments on all of it from friends that would have no problem saying otherwise. A half-complaint would be the weak drinks, but at a wedding I think that is more of a benefit than not, particularly when someone gets the brilliant idea to do tequila shots. He was there to answer my calls and texts at anytime. He was present at day of my event for anything I needed. He is an angel to work with. The place is gorgeous and so vintage just exactly what I imagined and what I wanted as a venue for my big day.
