I have been with this church for my entire life. This place was a place i grew up in, and for people that don't know, we have multiple different families donating latge amounts of money which is why we are able to afford everything. I have very mixed feelings about this church after I visited for a Saturday night service a few months ago. First of all: This is a great church if you're coming in with a strong sense of faith and just looking for fellowship among a diverse group of other Christians. My review is personal opinion and is from the perspective of someone still seeking and learning about faith. When you arrive for one of their FIVE services, something you'll notice quickly, is that this a high budget production. There are tablets in the lobby to check-in for groups on, gifts for every visitor, lights and fog machines in the sanctuary, and a praise band that puts on an absolutely Inspired concert of contemporary Christian pop at the beginning of every service. When I visited (on a Saturday night), there was also free ice cream at the end from a local business all in single-serving containers. It's a dream! But, I had to wonder, is this where the donated money from the congregation is going? There was no evidence in my time there that they did any significant outreach or service to the broader community, which is in my opinion, a pretty significant part of the entire purpose of faith. The service and ministries they have on their website only serve the church itself or the people already a part of it, which makes it pretty insular. My other main point that could be good or bad depending on who you are, was that they are absolutely relentless when it comes to asking for your personal information to "connect" with you. Look, I get that's great for a lot of people, but I had to tell no fewer than four people that I was just visiting and would rather not give them my email address, phone number, or home address. It was even built into the service. I understand, and can even appreciate being welcoming, but it was just all too far. I like to talk to congregational members when I visit a church and ask about their beliefs, their opinions of the church, how long they've been with it etc. but if felt like every person who was available to talk had a vested interest in getting me to join their group, commit to the church, or sign up for their newsletter, which was very jarring and sometimes uncomfortable. I may return because I did enjoy the service and the flexibility of having a Saturday evening option, but it is not a church I would feel comfortable donating a large amount of time or money to. If they laid off the "connection" with visitors and made it less coercive and did more direct service for the community (maybe park cleanups, group food bank shifts, or other poverty alleviation work among the not-strictly-church-attending population) with the funds and loyal manpower they have, I would change my mind and could definitely see this being a great long-term church option. read more

We came from a small church and the Promise Center is quite large in comparison. The first thing I noticed is the diversity of the people here. Black, white, brown, young , old, such diversity. There are small groups to appeal to everyone. Everyone is so friendly, and you are encouraged to get involved and not just be part of the crowd. Love our church!! Pastor King's message is always fun and easy to listen to. Worship is always amazing! Our children's ministry ( Nursery - crawlers to 3yr and kids zone - 4 yr to 4th grade) also always fun and engaging with their own curriculum. Our youth (Movement United) have their own special day! they take over the church Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm to share life together through worship and their own small groups! On Sundays they join us in the sanctuary to join in worship and hear Pastor's message. read more

I moved from SoCal in 2018 and found The Promise Center on Google because it was near me. I gave it a try. I was new to town, new to this type of worship, having been raised Catholic, but it was the most welcoming and friendly environment ever. I started volunteering and joining some of the groups to get connected to the community and my love for this church and it's pastors grew. I moved away for a year and watched online every Sunday. Relevant Bible preaching/teaching that hits home! Worship is contemporary and Spirit-filled. People are friendly and accepting with many opportunities to belong in a small group or by serving. The pastor and his wife are personable and hospitable. There is always for growth, but I would say that the Promise Center is a place where someone can connect with others, worship with joy, and be nurtured in the Lord. read more

This is the most amazing church I have ever been too! It feels like home! I come from a broken painful past of living far from God and this church was soo welcoming. The pastors and everyone there is loving and kind no matter who you are and where you come from! That is something I've never experienced at church before! I was looking for a church like TPC! With a diverse and positive congregation, the church encourages building strong relationships which has helped me relocate to the area. My wife and I were not happy with our old church, just didn't feel we were getting fed and we hated the music. But then we found the Promise Center. The first thing I noticed when we attended our first time, was how friendly everyone was. I had at one time attended a big church that is almost right next door to the Promise Center and after 3 months of attending had not met 1 person; and I'm extremely extroverted. But here everyone I made eye contact with, smiled, shook my hand, and welcomed me. I love how this church gets involved with the community, helping the homeless, people getting clean and sober, families, marriages, kids, etc. The first Thanksgiving season we were impressed that they said they were giving bags of food to the needy. Well our old church did this but asked the community to pitch in food for them to fill the bags....not here, we went out after service to find in the entry way that they had full bags of food, one with vegetables, the other with things to make a feast. We were to find someone to give this to who might be down on their luck. I've seen this kind of thing over and over. I never hear the pastor begging for money other than simple tything, or telling of special projects that need extra funding. I love that there is a huge cross section of people, old, young, families, single, married, and all kinds of ethnicities. That to me shows a healthy church that is meeting the needs of all. Both pastors are real, down to earth, not pias or judgemental. They are some of the most loving people I've ever met at church. The music sounds like it could be played on KLOVE, and often has given me huge emotional bursts where I've gotten teary-eyed. If you are used to dry, boring church it might take some getting used to. If you are sitting next to someone who really gets into the their worship it can make you feel a little uneasy at first. I don't mean they are rolling in the isles, or speaking in toungs at group level. Just some hand raising, and maybe a "Thank you Jesus" out loud here and there. If you aren't next to one like that then you'd never notice it. I like that they have 3 english services on Sunday and one spanish in the afternoon. A Wed night service too. I love the people, the staff and most important the pastors and the word of God that's taught here. On that note at my old church, often I'd space out, or lose track of the sermon (and I've been studying the bible in depth for over 20 years, so it wasnt because it was too deep). But here I am always engaged in the sermons, they have humor, real life examples, often videos accompany them, and have real meat in them. I find my wife and I often will discuss the sermon afterward or during the week. At this church, I really see examples in real life of people who are walking the talk, and living the life of the ideal Christian as best they can. The Promise Center is simply amazing. When you walk in your greeted by smiling, kind faces. You know that you are welcomed there. There is always fresh coffee hot and ready for everyone. The Kids Zone is just outstanding. They have a great check in center with sweet people. which makes it easy to intrust them with my children. My two boys love their teachers and they get sad when its time to leave. The services are nothing like I've ever seen before. Powerful and deeply moving. The music , the teaching always touch my heart and change me. Overall this place is a special place to my family and I. There is no place like it. It just feels like your home. read more

The service isn't bad, it seems to be a very Christ centered bible based godly church. The pastor seems good, his sermons aren't bad. The worship is very passionate. So why one star? Well, I would definitely not recommend this church for newcomers. I've been there over a dozen times and no one has bothered approaching me. I've filled out contact cards and prayer requests and no one has ever bothered calling me back. I've never heard back from anyone at this church. Last Wednesday I stuck around until everyone left, not a single soul said a word to me, not as much as a single "Hi". Nothing. Nada. I wanted to get prayer after service but the prayer team just up and left before I got a chance. I felt completely shunned. At this point, I knew this was definitely not the church for me. Definitely have not felt welcomed. Definitely not newcomer friendly. I'm sure this church is doing a lot of good for a lot of people and I hope the best for it but my experience with it has left me extremely disappointed. In the future, I sure hope it steps up its effort in making new attendees feel more accepted and welcome. read more
