I am a seeker, so I have no hard connection to this church or its denomination, but it was quite difficult for me as an outsider. I'll start with the positives: There are lots of groups here, the space, although small, is well used, and the music is absolutely amazing! All the congregates seemed so enthusiastic to be there, which really drew me in until the sermon. I also love that they offer ASL interpretations in their recorded sermons! All that being said, I found myself feeling intimidated by the amount of "fire and brimstone" preaching towards sinners and non-believers and was put off by the amount of political discussion by congregation members outside of the service that made me, an openly queer person, feel a bit unsafe and ready to get going as soon as I could. I'm so glad this place works for some people, but the lack of compassion for outsiders did not work for me. read more

I am a P.K. (Pastors Kid) and I've lived my life in churches. When I left my parents home I took my own path and not always the best one. When I met my husband and moved to Santa Rosa we tried to go to many churches but was so hard to find one that wouldn't skew the bible for their own agendas. We were about to give up.. Than we came to The Rock.. Pastor Ross is the absolute best Pastor I have had the honor of hearing in my adult life. My husband who was raised JW, became a Christian after 5months of going to The Rock and in his words he said "he lead me to the water.. I just had to drink" If you want to understand what the bible says, feel welcomed.. If you want to be surrounded by the most genuine people, where every pastor, deacon, every person in leadership you can see that God has called them.. This is the church for you.. read more

I'm from out of town but when I'm in this area, this is the church for me. I LOVE it. I love how they are bent on telling the truth--even when it's confrontational or unpopular--the Pastor tells it like it is. That, alone, is worth coming here. You can tell there is a good amount of work put into the Pastor's teaching. The messages you hear at this church are not ordinary, they are Holy Spirit-driven. The congregation is friendly. They have a cafe, and they allow you to bring your coffee into the sanctuary. That's a huge deal for me! :) Tons of events for every age group. The Sunday I was there, they were talking about a trip to Israel. Let's keep it short and sweet. If I lived in this area, this is where you would find me. I'm staying with an pneumatic program shelter with Redwood Gospel Mission and these nice folks are happy and nice enough to welcome us and show us love doing God's work .these folks really are light in our Darkness. These folks are so fantastic and wonderful doing God's work But there church is easily the most desolate bland unchurch like feeling and more resembling a shipping container feel with little if any Christian symbols found.. Nice kind sweet folks but they just have the ugliest most undesirable unremarkable church in Sonoma county which is unfortunate for them.. read more

I just had to write a review about this church. Hoping it helps someone else make the decision to go and attend. Im from Orange County but was traveling up north to visit my aunt. My family didn't want to miss a sunday service just because we were out of town. So we were eager to find a good church to attend. Here in the O.C we attend The Rock, so going out on a limb I yelped to see if they happened to have other Rock locations ( I'm a major Yelp user). I came across this Rock church and it happened to be atleast within a 30min drive of where we were staying. After reading the reviews we were convinced to attend. After arriving we shortly came to know that it is not the same "Rock" church we attend here at home. Ours is under "Foursquare" and this Rock is a "Calvary" which to us didn't matter either way. But never the less, the church was great. Pastor was amazing. Very informative, funny, and teaches straight from the bible. We very much enjoyed the service. Afterwards we planned to go straight back to my aunts, seeing that we knew no one. But God of course in all his wondrous ways, had other plans. The church happened to be having a bbq after church so we decided to stay for a bit. When we sat down in the corner alone, Immediately we were greeted with a married couple that touched our hearts. We ended up staying at the church an additional 2hrs chatting away. Needless to say, This is a good church, kind congregation, great pastor, and Gods presence surely was in that place. read more

The people at The Rock are genuinely friendly. When they ask you how you are doing, they really want to know and they care enough to listen and pray for you. The Pastor is very funny and makes the bible come alive with the teaching. The Lord's presence is there and it is truly a feeling of family. read more

I love attending The Rock! Pastor Ross has a doctorate in theology, teaches straight from the Bible. Wed nights @ 7pm he teaches from the Old Testament. Sundays @ 8:30am & 10:30am he teaches from the New Testament. It is a very warm fellowship with great diversity of age and ethnicity. I first came here because my two children loved the children's ministry. They are growing in the Lord as we are with guidance of ALL the wonderful pastors. The Junior High, High School and Young Adults groups are growing in abundance. The Lord is very clearly at work here! Come early though because parking is limited. It now has a Coffee Shop for your high end Lattes, Mochas & Pastries (all proceeds go to our new building fund). There are plenty of retreats and events to stay conected with like minded Christians. The most important thing about a church is that it teaches the Word of God and Pastor Ross does a great job at this. Sound doctrine.

I have attended another church for 24 years, which is under the 4-Square ministries but spun out of a church for surfers in Southern CA. The church grew from a home fellowship to a building and at one time was about 400-450 in membership. It has dwindled in the last few years. Someone said to try The Rock, and at first I thought it was a cult. I decided to try their mid-week Bible Study to see what it was like. I was so blown away by the teaching pastor, who has the "gift of teaching". He's funny, real and doesn't back down from the truth of God's Word. I attended for over a year, and then felt compelled to attend church services. At first I went every other week, then it became clear to me that I wanted to attend this church full-time. I made the leap to The Rock in February 2013. I love the music, the friendly people, and all the pastors are gifted in so many ways. What struck me was the passion, and excitement for the Lord that they exude. After 7 years of Bible Study Fellowship, the teaching straight from the Word was what I was really looking for. I feel sorrow over leaving another church after supporting them for so long, but I feel at peace going to The Rock and I know God will guide and be with me. It's a much bigger church than I'm used to, but it's so low-key, and there are various groups and activities you can partake in for every age group. read more
