I love this place. The atmosphere and vibe are wonderful, and the food is fresh and delicious. There's a nice selection of teas, too. The decor is really cool, both outside and inside. A lot of the art on the walls (the bathroom is amazing!) was done by a very talented artist named Alex Kramp. She works there and also does commission work, so if you're looking for a psychedelic painting or even want your skateboard painted, talk to Alex. She painted a photo of my Sphynx cat which turned out super cool, and I'm not having her paint another for me. You can also have a tarot reading done here, and they have herbal tonics and other items like jewelry, crystals, incense etc for sale. It's really nice to sit outside under the big willow (?) tree and sip a tea and just vibe. Dr Bob's unique style of bodywork is amazing. The food is excellent, the vibe is, well, psychedelic hippie style. Not your average restaurant, and things usually move at a slower pace. Very interesting mix of clientele. Dr Bob, the owner, is a character. They host various music/performance events throughout the year, most notably the solstice gatherings. Went in here under the impression it was a chill vegan hippie place. Got a lot of anxiety (reasons below) and decided hey, I'll come back when I'm feeling better. Got FOLLOWED out by some guy who questioned my friend and I as to why we were leaving. I don't think I'll be back, definitely wasn't the chill atmosphere I thought it would be. Also: they say they're vegetarian but keep their 2 goldfish (fancy bubble eyed goldfish) in TINY separate bowls. We are talking not even a gallon of water. They joked about even frying them up to eat if I wanted?? I pitied the fish. Their was also a super loud discussion between one of the patrons and a worker and not much in terms of a menu, like no idea if everything was vegan friendly or what. It was all on a chalkboard. The whole fish thing, loudness, and my social anxiety about asking a ton of questions to decide what to order put me off. Probably going to get blowback for posting this because the place seems to have a tight following but I'm gonna share my experience anyway. Please get some proper housing for your fish and don't follow people out the door like that, that is REALLY creepy. read more

Tried this place out shortly before moving nearby as it popped up in suggestions for vegan eats and my friend wanted to chow down. It was disorganized as heck, no solid menu. They had to check to see what they could make me based off what they had in the kitchen. Curry was decided upon, and it took a very long time. While my friend and I waited, some man who wasn't part of the staff walked into the kitchen and came back out with two pieces of bread in his filthy hands, calling it a "wish sandwich" as he devoured it standing in front of us. My friend and I exchanged glances, and within moments Dr. Bob himself sat down and refused to leave. He asked us all sorts of prodding personal questions and tried to convince us to come to him for Chiropractic services, that one session with him was like 5 with any other Chiropractor, and no- he doesn't take insurance. My food finally came, it was alright but seemed to just be frozen veggies with curry sauce and basic rice. The soup my friend had was better, and our teas were good... but not good enough to bring me back. Dr. Bob proceeded to tell us we had to meet a friend of his who was having a rough time, he would call him over and we could have fake names. We met his friend (and goat), the smell was so awful and goat so untrained we couldn't get away quick enough. It was all very odd and I don't recommend the experience to anyone. read more

Out of towner here, so my opinion is very unbiased I would like to think. First off the smoothies were more like juices. I ordered a $10 avocado toast and it looked like a child made it. The avocado was all brown and they were very skimpy about how much they put, definitely not worth the price. After experiencing this I decided to look into the restaurant and found so many disturbing articles about the establishment. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Wonderful whole fresh food, good hospitality, wise healers and provoking exchange. I had the pleasure of eating a soup that was perfectly seasoned on top of rice covered in salad. I used to come here many many years ago. I have not been here in a few years. Today I finally was able to revisit! I am beyond impressed with everything they have done with this place! I didn't really understand the name change until today. From the outside this place looks amazing and very welcoming. I love the painting on the outside, the inside is busy and colourful! They redid the inside entirely. The menu looks different and more options. The herb section is bigger and better than ever. I picked up some herbs today & I had a falafel sandwich I would give the sandwich itself a 4 out of 5. The herbs I am really excited to try. I would buy so much more from there if my wallet was bigger! I recommend you go check this place out! This is an amazing part of Detroit & I cant wait for more places like this to pop up. Establishment is run by people looking to cross boundaries. Dr. Bob hugged me upon meeting me and attempted to hold my hand. Food was awful and I waited a very long time for it. Gluey texture, tons of seasoning in some bites and none in others, no understanding of how to properly prepare vegetables. Inedible. Attention seeking behavior from chef followed by anger when I wasn't reacting as she wanted. The owners and employees expect people to immediately act as long time family than as patrons. The environment was so creepy I actually had a panic attack and had to leave. This isn't a business, it's people playing house. read more

I understand the bad reviews but what you must understand is that The Psych Shack is a small business run by Dr. Bob and his family. The shack is a very spiritual, natural and bohemian place that was derived from an old house. It isn't some boujee, fancy, hipster, vegan restaurant that you would run into in downtown Ferndale. It's a very friendly place, welcome to all and very kid friendly (and pet friendly). When you walk in it looks like a house but the energy is very welcoming, comforting and inviting. The bar area is where you get your food and the food is listed on a chalk board. All the food is vegan and vegetarian and delicious if I might add. If you want a raw, spiritual experience with friendly people, pets and children, then go to the The Psychedelic Shack. I've been here many times and I always meet some very interesting people and I always leave there feeling good and relaxed. If you're boujee and picky and want an organized, pristine restaurant with servers than this is not the place for you. I decided to finally try this place, and here's what happened. I came in and sat at the bar to wait for someone to come up so I could get my carry out. Out of nowhere, while I'm waiting for the host to bring my food out, a cat jumps up on the bar and begins eating from muffins and breads that were out for purchase. There were two men (also customers) sitting right in front of the bread stealing cat. They then ask the host, who came over and snatched the basket of bread, if the bread wasn't actually for the cat. They assumed it was specifically for the cat and thought the shit that just transpired was cool. The woman told them no. Anyway, my first thought was why is there a cat roaming near food and where it's prepared. But also, I want to know if home girl is gonna toss the bread or put it back out on some slick shit after myself and the two men left..but wait. It's gets better. While eating my kale salad that I bought a MF live bug crawled out of my container. I'm so outdone, and I'm floored. I spent the rest of "dinner" spitting my salad up in the sink. I called immediately, and told the host what happened. She told me to come back and get a refund. I went back, got my refund, and talked to the owner who asked me how big the bug was and then joked about how they should have charged me double. NEVER EAT HERE! read more

An extremely colorful house right on Woodward, in Highland Park. Now that is a business to check out. The sign outside says 'innate chiropractic and vegetarian cafe.' Inside I discover neither. There is a long wall with jars of various herbs to purchase, but no resemblance of a cafe anywhere in site, nor chiropractic services. The girl behind the counter asked me if I saw their chickens running around outside, and a bare footed man with a severe case of super innate body odor, walked by me proclaiming the day is wonderful. Describing this place is like describing a really non coherent dream one has, where anything and everything is intermixed. I still have no clue what is this place. However, I will give them 3 starts for simply bringing color to otherwise gloomy stretch of Woodward. read more

I love this place. If you are looking for a traditional "doctor's office" or cafe this place is NOT for you. While the innate Healing Center is open to the public, it tends to draw the innate, light beings, healers, scientists, revolutionaries, inventors, grass roots activists, those who study and know in depth the ancients, and those who are engineering the future, The energy draws people from all over the world some never return home. Dr. Bob is the truth innately, is a visionary and certainly more than a "chiropractor". He has created a nucleus for a community that will soon be thriving as a result of his vision and efforts. The food is delicious, prepared with love and an exciting vegan/vegetarian menu that keeps you coming back - food for the mind body and soul. The raw juices are to LIVE for! Especially the Green Goddess.... and the Green Dragon (particularly when made with kale!) There has never been a time that I have visited that I did not leave feeling energized, inspired and fired up to do more. Dr. Bob Pizzmenti is a true master of the human body and it's wellness. Chiropractic in its traditional sense is not what this is. Dr. Bob has his own combination of body working methods that can aid your body in resetting itself. His adjustments are very non invasive in comparison to traditional chiropractors. He works on your muscles and relieving the tension that is causing misalignments of the spine. Once tension is released and your muscles are relaxed he will adjust as necessary and only as you are comfortable. I would describe his methods as getting to the root of the issues over a period of time so that your muscles will not return your spine to its previously misaligned position. I'll be honest, this place can seem strange to your average person but do not let that discourage you. I've looked high and low and there is no other treatment in the area that is this good. I've been going here on and off for years with back and neck issues. It usually takes 5-10 visits for me over the course of a few weeks to be good and pain free for a long time. After just one visit I immediately feel much better. I am skeptical of chiropractors in general, but Dr. Bob is an expert and I trust him completely. read more
