Went there a couple months ago and it was busy so they had just one table. We decided just to put of with it. However they are okay overall

Excellent choice for outdoor dining. I had the impossible burger with blue cheese and mushrooms and it was Impossibly good. Good beer too.

Anyways, I digress - as I usually do, you will pass through Peterborough (yes named after me...hehehe) and then you will magically here the song... Bobcaygeon by the Tragically Hip. Bobcaygeon is a bit north of Peterborough but the Brewery is right in town! And though the Song has a few interpretations, the word BREW does not! I'm thirsty for the Amber Nectars of the Gods... let me at'em! LOL! This is the second craft/microbrew in the same number of days for the me on my small town getaway. When you enter this place, you're going to be basically dropped into a warehouse brewing operations. No cool sitting area but the murals are nice. The place is industrial but hey... we came for the BREWS not the artsy decor. Let's leave that for the fancy smancy wine peeps! Ha! Simple bench seatings to the left. A cash area to the front of you where taps line the wall under a blackboard. Menu is simple... here are the brews ORDER UP and DRINK! I did a flight of 4 to try their crafts. Overall the brews were... O...K..., I wouldn't jump up and down and cry that I found my one and only Brew Luv! See what I did there!?! :D The place was pretty empty except for some industry peeps at another table. The one guy in the shop was pretty low key and really didn't get into conversation about their brew - would have loved more info and history of the place. Everyone is different and each of us have different prefs. I know one thing, I did not like the Heavy Lies the Crown ... OMG ... reminds me of the Up'yer'Kilt brew I had decades ago. Must be bad for me to still remember it! Think that through. Anyway, in true Canadian sense where we leave no beer behind, I did drink it! Thank the lord it was a flight and not a pint!!! As I left, the brewery... the theme song of The Littlest Hobo hums through my mind as I hit the road ... HOME. Cheers.

Full 5*s for customer service experience…read more Note: At the moment, there's no food at this establishment. The male bartender said they are working on getting food, or at least a food truck, however, patrons are encouraged to bring their own food! Located in an industrial area, Smithavens was difficult to find. (Entrance to brewery does not face the street.) One of the roads in was closed for construction, so there was only one way in and the signage wasn't the best. They need flags at the end of their driveway to drive traffic into the brewery. Smithavens specialises in European styled brews, think: lagers, pilsners, dunkels, etc. Not really my thing / I do not know enough about it to speak of it. However, guy behind the counter - also a "brewer" was very accommodating, offering samples before purchase. Their patio, e.g. outdoor seating is opened for Covid. Interior was quite big, however, if you're staying to drink it seemed as though people were encouraged to drink outdoors. That is the impression that I got. It seemed as though most people grab a drink and buy stuff to-go. I was given some literature to take-home, e.g. brewery map, food pairing mag, etc. It was much appreciated! If Euro brews are your thing, this was a great, educational stop in Peterborough!

I saw on Instagram they were pet friendly which is always a plus and that they had FOOD! Nice interior and a lot of seating and a Patio out front. The owner was nice and I tried a flight of beers which is the best way to try out a variety without committing to a pint of one! I got the Smoll which is a newer brew, the Petit Duchesse, Roller Beast and Kraken. My favs were the Kraken and Smoll. They were all great but I would definitely get those again! Service was quick and friendly. In the back they have Pattersons Pizza making Neapolitan style pizza. I was surprised they were there! I originally tried their pizza at a Markham Dog Alliance event and was excited to try another pizza. The pizza is very much a tradition Neapolitan style pizza, reminded me of the pizza I had in Naples. The sauces, the thin crust, chewy and yummy and the delectable cheese and pepperoni was a nice balance to the variety of brews I enjoyed. Ian the chef, really loves what he does! Very passionate chef and enjoyed the friendly chat! A random find, a random afternoon, overall a wonderful day! Worth checking out!! I will return!!!
