Maybe Yelp should plan to attend this festival next year, since so few reviews are available. It's…read morehard to tell we are attending a 'party' on a college campus, as there's no silly pranks or screeching co-eds! The Midway Plaisance is actually NOT quite completely owned by the University, which is probably why this is able to be here. On Midway P, you are literally in the the middle of the street, with long, gorgeous soccer fields around you. There are 2 stages, going east and west, with great acoustics (ok I'm not an expert). There are food trucks and beverages, but you can bring your own; same with chairs too. It starts early afternoon and goes until 9 or 10 at night, but it is NOT wall to wall music, as there are other venues (indoor) that need attention too. The artists may be up and comers or veterans, maybe not whom you would see in Jazz Review. Note: The big bands are on the outside stages, whereas the the 'small' groups (trios, quartets, soloists) are in the small indoor areas (churches, art centers at the U of C, even Hyde Park Bank!). There are shuttle buses that can take you to vendors, and a down and upsides are that one can't stay in the same venue for too long. On a nice day when strolling is fun, with NO limited mobility, that's a good activity. The downside to late Sept/early fall is cool weather, rain and HORNETS!

We had an amazing Friday evening!…read more I mean.... I had such a fun, satisfying, delicious, musical, vibing evening! If you haven't heard of or been to The Quarry on the south shore of Chicago, I'm putting you on notice. We joined Chicago history maker and philanthropist Yvette J. Moyo for her birthday celebration. Every Friday at the Quarry, there's, jazz and beautiful food and drinks for grown folks. LOL We ate "the Nuggets of Knowledge" too fast to take photos, just one of the amazing dishes created by The Bald-Head Chef and music by @allthesaxyouwant on IG. The place is a whole vibe. One for the books!

We…read morebooked the smaller room to hold about 80 people and the owner was really nice and accommodating. On the day of the repast I arrived first to get the room ready for the guest to arrive. I walked in and was utterly surprised the tables need to be thrown away and rebought. The 6 foot serving tables were not sturdy at all. And the tables where the guest sat were horrible. Thank my lucky stars I brought my own black table clothes. The place was HOT. They claimed to have had the air on but it was an 85 degree day and cooler outside then in there. The shared kitchen was ok. But the freezer is full of old food. The manger was abit rude and unprofessional as someone parked by the door and we advised her we would have them move. She advised they could park in the parking lot she would open it as a courtesy but it's normally $75 an hour to park there . She also made mention that the shared kitchen was $25 a hour. After she was done with her ranting. I mention to her that those items were included in our contract. She paused and recanted her statement. I totally understand what they are doing in this neighborhood and I commend them for it. However, the hourly price they are charging does not match up with the space. I'm hoping they continue to work on this location and improve it! Also, I'm going to assume the sign they provided on this ad is the future sign for the building as there is a plastic sign hung up on there right now

Music is diverse and perfect level to chat but still vibe. This place does southern cuisine right. Portions size and pricing is perfect. Cocktails are really good and honestly charge more. Food: Herbed Shrimp & toast: 20/10 there's a hint of spice but loves just get it! Get it. It reminds me of the lobster served at Hampton Social with a kick. Smash burger & fries: There was an abundance of fries and I loved that. The burger was so good I didn't mind it was American cheese. The burger was amazing 20/10 Catfish is so amazing. Flaky and perfectly crispy. Not salty. Just perfect. Get it. Green beans: 20/10 turkey meat was top tier Mac n cheese: is not my favorite but the texture, cheese, and salty flavor was perfect. The dish is a bit sweet but customers love it so you may too. 8/10 Drinks: 20/10 The Park Bulldog, this feature a mini corona bottle and it's really good. I could finish bc I drove lmao. Blueberry Mojito I can say this was good, a bit heavy of the syrup, but outside of that I'd get it again. Overall had enough to take home the family and everyone smashed before I snack. I'm quite upset but it's fine. I will be back to get more soon! I heard brunch is fabulous so I'm coming in!

The owner is polite and seeks to ensure that all visitors feel safe and wants them to enjoy the venue!! He never turns anyone away if requesting to greet him for a brief introduction when I'm there. We've been hosting monthly events here for the past two years for a large crowd. I'm not sure when…read morethe new owner/management took over, but he's always been accommodating. It's a large beautiful (I would like to say historic) venue that has a large dance floor, plenty of seating, huge bar, stage where Live Music or DJ can perform, private dressing room with a small bathroom, and a full-size commercial kitchen to rent if you want to provide food or bring in a caterer. There is a parking lot in the back, as well as across the street, and street parking. The owner has security patrolling the parking lots the entire night. Our guests have never had a problem. They only provide rental space, bartenders, and a few servers/waitresses, you have to provide/hire your own vendors (caterers, DJ, decorations, etc.). In being an Event Planner for the past 30+ years from Corporate to Community events, as with all Service-based businesses, you're going to always have a rotating door when it comes to customer service. It's part of the game. It's hard to find good help these days. My personal experience, as well as my experience in attending other events hosted there, has always been great. I know other event promoters who have also been hosting their events here for awhile, so if it was that bad, we wouldn't still be here. The owner does an excellent job in doing his best to stay on top of it. So when you read other poor reviews, create your own opinion based on your own experience like we did. Otherwise you just might miss out on a GREAT experience!
