This is such a lovely pub! My partner was excited to come here because he loves pie, and he was not disappointed. Beautiful pastry, perfectly cooked beef, delicious gravy. My mum loved it too. The rare beef sandwich with malted mayo was a flavour bomb, and the scotch egg, sausage roll and fish & chips were fantastic. Pimms cup really hit the spot on a warm day. This is a high-end pub (public house). The pub fare is upscale compared to a typical pub. It is set in a Victorian house. We came a few times. One time, we came during Sunday brunch and ordered the following: 1. Ale Battered Cod & Chips with Mushy Peas & Tartare Sauce. 2. The Q&B Full English Breakfast. 3. Avocado Toast with Fried Haloumi & Sunny Eggs. As expected with upscale food, their food was quite good. The service was good. There is a main dining room, a smaller one at the front windows, and a small room with a single long table. There is also a full bar. Upstairs, there is a lounge with a big screen TV and a bar for hosting sports game events. There is a very nice outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is free WiFi. I really enjoyed my Sunday British brunch here. Firstly, there is free parking right outside along Elm until 1pm (Sundays only). There isn't a line-up to get in unlike nearby brunch spots so you'll easily find a seat at least when I was here on a December. While the scotch egg isn't on their brunch menu, you can always order it off the menu. It's really good and not often, you'll find that in many restaurants. Bonus check out their Sunday roast starting at noon (we were there too early for it but it looks good!). We also got the halloumi toast with a pickled egg, which was a substantial size than expected and Q&B breakfast, which is great too. You can even get the toast fried... which we haven't tried before. It's so good but probably not something you'll eat often because it ain't healthy. The service was top notch and friendly and the vibe is warm. I think the reason why it's not so busy is because people probably think of this as more of a pub but they serve good brunch too! I love the cozy vibes of this place. I had an event to attend at Yonge/Dundas area and wanted to watch Jays play-off after. I didn't even realize how authentic it felt until I came here during a Euro soccer game--when England scored, the whole place erupted with cheers. It honestly felt like I was in London for a moment. Came here for winterlicious and enjoyed our food. We got the kale salad, olive and artichoke toast, haddock and chips, minced beef soccer pie, sticky toffee pudding, and apple and shortbread crumble. Everything came out hot and fresh, although our mains took quite some time to arrive. Our server was lovely and offered us coffee on the house because of the wait. While the flavours were all on point, I wish the fish and chip batter was a bit crispier (the middle got soft shortly after it arrived) and held onto the fish better as the batter came right off the haddock. And the mash that came with the soccer pie was a bit cold. The standouts were the desserts. Having gone to England earlier this year we now love to find an English Pub when ever we are traveling and lucking for us we were staying within walking distance of The Queen and Beaver. We made sure to make a reservation on a Sunday Night so the Sunday Roast would be available. Yes we did look it up a head of time just to make sure. We arrived for our reservation and were seated outside which was great because the weather was amazing. Once seated we checked out the menu and have to get some appetizers. We of course went with the classics, The Scotch Egg and the Sausage Roll. Both were very good. You really can never go wrong with an English Banger Sausage Roll and it being wrapped in a flakey Puff Pasty just really made it great. Was also a fan of the Brown Sauce it came with. The Scotch Egg was also really liked. I was a huge fan of the fact that the egg yolk was still runny in the middle. Makes it so much better then a fully cooked one. For my entrée I had to go with the Classic Ale Battered Fish & Chips. I will say it is on almost every menu at every restaurant in Canada but if I'm going to get it I figured the best spot to get it would be at an English Restaurant/Pub. I will say both the Fish and Chips were very good. The batter to fish ratio was perfect. Crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The Chips were also perfectly cooked, freshly cut and had a lot of flavor. Ashly got the Sunday Roast which I though was just alright. The Roast Beef was just tough in a couple bites and fatter then most. All and all we had a great dinner and if your looking for a great English Restaurant to have a nice traditional English dinner or just grab a drink then the Queen and Beaver is the place for you. read more

Fish and chips were yummy. The tartar sauce was unique and definitely needs more than what comes with the meal (we ended up ordering extra of the sauce). Fries were tasty and tasted fresh. They were seasoned well. Beer battered fish came out PIPING hot and tasted good. Server was pretty slow to refill our drinks and get us our check at the end. I was recommended this restaurant for a trip to Toronto. It is located along the cutest block with outdoor seating. We grabbed a table outside for dinner and started with a round of beers. The staff was friendly and we got seated quickly. I ordered the fish and chips for dinner - super delicious. The only issues I had here was being on the patio, we had a man from the street come and spit on our table while eating and slightly harassing our table. The employees went out of their way to kick him out and make sure we were comfortable. Sad workers have to deal with this outside of their typical duties but it went a long way. Awesome place that makes you feel like you're coming over to a friends place for some drinks and a nice home cooked meal. Literally, I think this place used to be a home . I definately recommend trying one of their three hot pies but the real show stopper was their scotch eggs. Perfectly cooked and nicely battered, I would order ten of these if I could. Great little English pub in the heart of the city. A few streets north of the Eaton Centre sits this little pub. Beautiful exterior facade with an old English vibe inside. We couldn't find room downstairs so had to go upstairs. It was small and loud - but it still offered a cozy vibe. We ordered a few apps and cocktails because we wanted something light and our little table could not fit main dishes for sure. Queen & Beaver is a charming, beautiful, pub with exceptional service. My husband and I visited on the afternoon of Sunday, June 30th and sat in the front room. We had a conversation with our waitress (I can't remember her name, but I hope she sees this) about the perceptions Americans and Canadians have of each other. It was the longest and most interesting conversation I've had with a stranger in years. The table next to us had a rather specific food allergy. The hostess checked with the chef to be absolutely sure the guest could enjoy a full meal safely. I got the cheeseburger and my husband got the Sunday roast. I took a couple of my relatives here as we were in Toronto and looking for an interesting yet casual place to eat. We had no reservations and just kind of wandered around the area and came across this. It really hit the bill! Food was great and our server answered all of our questions. We had a couple of cocktails, I enjoyed the Q&B Manhattan which was decadent and delicious, while my cousin had a Pimm's Cup. For a starter i had the scotch egg. It was okay but it was served cold straight from the fridge and it was very heavily breaded, quite thickly coated so it was very bready. We also shared the Potato & Parmesan Croquettes. They were very light and tasty and the house made green goddess garlic dip sauce was a wonderful touch. For the main I had the Poached Salmon with Spiced Legume Salad. It was tasty, but it was definitely overly salty. Keep the water handy if you order this! My dinner mates ordered the Lamb Curry and the pie of the day, both which they thoroughly enjoyed along with the chocolate pot with sponge cake and marmalade for dessert. Before heading to the Toronto Blue Jays game we went to The Queen and Beaver Public House. Walking inside the restaurant definitely gave English Pub vibes! Our waiter was funny and one of the friendliest waiters we had in our vacation! We sat in the upstairs deck which overlooked the street and crowds and the view was amazing. I ordered the Mussels and everyone else ordered the Jerk Grilled Chicken & Spring Tamarind Succotash, Ale Battered Cod, Mushy Peas and Tartar sauce. The Mussels were perfectly cooked in a garlic white wine sauce and I felt I could have eaten 2 pots of these. My wife got the jerk grilled chicken which was seasoned well and it was my first time eating succotash and it's definitely on my list of regular meals! Their cream ale beer was good and the Guinness is a must! I will stop by here again next time I'm in Toronto! read more

This is such a wonderful and quaint spot. Food and service was great. Enjoyed sitting outside.

Did a group event here using the "Feasting Menu" which is promoted in their website but not yet reviewed anywhere I could find. There are many feasting choices that have varying minimums (8 for prime rib roast, for example). The feasts are served family-style, and came with lots of sides, gravy and veg, and a plate of excellent Yorkshire puddings. There is a private room available that is best suited to a group of 10 or less (allowing you to draw the curtain), but we squeezed 12 in with the curtain open. The roast itself was very good: good meat, well seasoned and cooked proper rare. It is expensive (about $39pp, but the traditional roast also looked good in Yelp pics and about $10pp less), but we got a lot, and there was no fee to bring an outside cake, which could save you a ton over buying everyone a dessert (with 10 people, that could add $100!). The other alternative we'd considered was "House on parliament" which is quite a bit less (under $25pp and includes dessert), but not prime rib and no reservations. The hand pulled rotating cask ale is the way to go for a drink: it's larger (20oz) and a little better deal ($8.75) than many of the other options, and a hand-pulled drink isn't something you find many places, so must-try (the beer is less gassy, and pours with a nice head - made for feasting!) Parking isn't easy, but if you're lucky you may get a street spot right outside for $5/hr. read more
