A great spot to grab a beer with friends after work. It's always packed and definitely on the louder side, but that just adds to the fun atmosphere. Perfect for when you're in the mood to unwind in a lively setting. The food is solid and pairs well with drinks, and they've got a good selection of beers to choose from. The servers are friendly and keep things moving even when it's busy, which I really appreciate. Honestly, with so many pubs in this area you can't really go wrong, but this one has become one of my regular go-to's. It's casual, easy, and always a good time. If you're looking for a laid-back spot to hang out with friends, enjoy some drinks, and soak in that downtown pub energy, this place does the trick.

I had Belgian Beer Beef Stew and it met my expectations (considering that we often cook beef stew with red wine at home). The meat was tender and the flavour was special. My colleagues also enjoyed their dishes. The selection of beers is outstanding. I had a non-alcoholic cocktail and it was good too. The atmosphere is cozy. It has just the right amount of intimacy to make you comfortable with new people.

First of all the ambiance and decor was on point! It was so nice and cozy inside the pub. Our server was also very polite and attentive. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce, which came with fries and coleslaw. I also ordered a Shirley Temple for my drink. My friend ordered the peppercorn schnitzel. The schnitzel was nice and crispy and the addition of the sauce really tied the whole dish together. I tried my friend's peppercorn version and I would have to say, the pepper flavour overpowered the schnitzel. Unless you really love pepper, I would choose another sauce. For the price, you got a huge piece of schnitzel and it was so really filling.

    German beer for the win

I've came here several times in the last year when I need a pub that is convenient to other places downtown. The town crier has never disappointed. It has one of the most extensive beer selections in the city, focusing on rare German and Belgian beers. Leffe on tap! I haven't had that since I went to the brewery. Lots of good food items as well, with again a nod towards Germany and Belgium. The Moule and Frit are quite good. Only recommendation is to get more of a variety of non beer cocktails and ciders for those poor people who don't like beer.

Possibly the best schnitzel in Toronto. This beautiful and cozy basement Pub shines with character, wonderful service and delicious food. While it was busy on a Friday evening, I was seated and served with haste. Our service Manish (my sincere apologies if I spelled it incorrectly or got it wrong) was excellent, attentive and helpful. Not once was I waiting for anything, they were at the table and on top of everything. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this underground pub. Warm wood panels and low lighting creates an inviting evening, The Wiener schnitzel and accompanying sides were perfectly cooked. I appreciated the over abundance of Dill in the coleslaw. The schnitzel was breaded perfectly. The fries were crispy and golden. It's hard to find fault this evening as everything was on point and stellar. I'll definitely be back.

Businessman's dinners is usually room service (club sandwich side of fries) but sometimes I just need to get out and try the local faire. I wandered a bit through downtown Toronto and eventually found Town Crier Pub. The draft beer menu is extensive (over 50) and included several from my recent trip to Prague and Krakow. Based on that recent trip I thought I'd gotten the schnitzel out of my system but maybe not. I thought a little Canadian influence was needed so I combined the two and ordered the poutine mit frankfurter. Frankly, poutine will always be hangover food but damn is it good and Town Crier does it well. The service was great and ver accommodating for a business traveler.

Really good spot to grab a fresh pint and an elevated lunch menu. Great selection of draft beers. It does get busy in here but the staff does a great job of keeping up.

Bellmans sausages w/ mashed potatoes & sauerkraut (C$26) so much good food

For our last dinner in Toronto, we wanted something casual, yet hearty. Town Crier was on our hotel's list, and was on nearby John St in the Entertainment District. They serve German food here. I ordered the Bellman's sausage platter, while my travel companion ordered the schnitzel (not pictured). My dish hit the spot! It came w/ three sausages, kraut, potatoes and a salad. The sausages were nicely seasoned, had a good snap to them and the pricing was fair. The portion was so big I couldn't finish the potatoes. My TC also liked her dish. I had a bite and agreed. Regarding the ambiance, they have outdoor & indoor seating. You have to walk down some steps to go inside. There is a dark wood bar to the left w/ plenty of beer handles, and tables and booths to your right. Our waitress was super nice, attentive & informative on the menu. The only miscue w/ the service was the hostess. It wasn't crowded inside, but she tried to sit us at this table that was next to a column. I really hate narrow spaces bc I am 6'2", wear a 48 jacket and a XXL shirt. We ended up at a table that had much more shoulder room. All in all, a very positive experience. Our overall assessment of the food scene in Toronto is that it is very vibrant. There is good food from all over the world, the prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and there are a lot of local foodies.

    8oz Peppercorn Steak Frites

This pub has a lot of seats inside and outside. Got a table for two on Sunday around 530 with ease. We had to sit outside because the weather was super nice! The pub got really busy around 6ish, with every table full outside but there was a lot of open tables inside. Lots of drink options! I tried a cider and it was really strong but good. For food, I tried the 8oz Peppercorn Steak Frites. It had a strong pepper taste but was cooked rare to perfection! The fries had a good crunch but they weren't too hard. Overall, it was a decent meal. Rated a 4 because it took us a long time to get the servers attention that we were ready to order. Maybe because they were so busy but other tables were helped first before we were and we were there before them.

Good lively bar to have a few drinks or a meal. It was crowded on a recent Saturday night and a few drunks were sprinkled in as well. Had a few German beers and was on my way. Poutine looked good.

Came here with colleagues after blue Jays game when most bars were full. The wait staff was very accommodating and got us a table without any wait. It didn't look less busy by any means. She seated us inside at first. We told her it's a gorgeous evening and we want to be outside and she found us another table outside which was very nice of her. I enjoyed the beer selection although they were out of several beers that night. I found the Holland quadruple beer on draft which was very yummy. Then I had the Somersby cider which was also great. The fries we got were plenty and our waitress got us mustard aoli at my request which was nice. The only not-so-great thing was the dessert. The Belgian waffle wasn't as decadent as I'd hoped. But overall a great experience and a fun evening. The ambiance and the vibe of the place is also very cool!

An absolute fan of this pub! The entrance is a little tricky but as soon as you walk in you get an immediate London/European pub vibe. The drinks are all fairly priced but the real stunner here is the beer collection. There is much to choose from, many European varietals and they have Oktoberfest specific beer. The food menu was also particularly good. They have at least 3 types of poutine, and it's good but not my favorite since the gravy is sweet. That being said the arugula salad and wrap were great! If you're looking for something casual, lively and fun drop in!

Currywurst, very tasty balanced curry sauce!

This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!

But…read moresince you don't have an ability to give a .5, I actually pushed it forward to a four star. It's located in the Scotiiabank Plaza at King and Bay. Entrance is closest to the Adelaide side of that building. You enter on the ground floor level, but then you have to walk up some stairs to actually get to the restaurant if you see the place with the kegs on the side of the stairs, you're in the right spot! You'll have to go buy those kegs later if you want to use the bathrooms cause that's where they are. Once you get upstairs, it's a quite nice looking pub area ( maybe little bit more higher end than some pubs ). We specifically went there because in December 2025 they had a special where they were doing a beef Wellington every day until it sold out. The price tag was a bit steeper at $60, although I have to say it was pretty good. Do I think it was worth the $60, well? I think the jury still out on that one. The service was very nice. The server came and checked on us periodically, and I did let them know that it was a special birthday for my partner, and so they actually arranged a nice to surprise and brought a special dessert out after the main meal. It was nice to get something sweet to finish the meal (comp'd). The Wellington was very good. It was probably just a little overcooked for me. I prefer mine more like medium rare and it was probably more like medium well done. I might've liked it better if it had not been so well done. However, it was still pretty good and a very nice flavor and it came with mashed potatoes and a really lovely gravy and some nice roasted vegetables. Atmosphere is pretty lively, I would say that there's not a lot of privacy because the tables are very close together. That was kind of a so-so thing in my book, but not a big deal. It is a pub after all. Also, that's what you can expect in those types of establishments. So it was quite enjoyable, it was also my first time there. Not sure I'd run back there although I generally do like O&B restaurants. It's just there are others of theirs that I prefer far more than this one. Close to all the transit steps away from King subway station.
