This is all still the same, poor representation, unprepared your during mediation, causing me to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in my divorce. I was never even told to file for alimony or child support and I filed in July 2020, when asking for food stamps and on unemployment. She never even explained that I couldn't ask for that money back. In mediation she was a deer in the headlights, letting the mediator dictate the decisions, she didn't even have my financial spreadsheet ready when the mediator asked for it. I am a survivor of both emotional and financial abuse, she knew this going into mediation. I was forced to comb through numbers and produce while flooded with PTSD. I was unable to calculate the numbers, and that should have been her job. I was re-victimized during mediation. When I wrote Karin and Melissa the next morning, explaining that I needed them to be my voice, asking them why they froze up and why they let Cheryll the mediator dictate the decisions, and told them they didn't consider the mortage owed on my home, only the equity. They didn't even confirm the numbers used in his bank statement were not correct. Their firm is clearly not prepared for complex asset divorce, or dealing with women from domestic abuse and financial abuse. This has been a complete nightmare. I only ask for what is fair, and now I walk away with nothing but child support that can be overturned at any time. I hope no one else goes through this nightmare. I signed a CR2A after being coached by her and the mediator that I could stand to lose $100-$200,000. The next day in the morning with no distractions, and a calm place I look at the spreadsheet used in mediation and I see over a six-figure errors in their calculations that the decisions were based on. It was her job to oversee the financials, and understand how to litigate finances. It was her job to know divorce law, but instead she was quiet and let the mediator dictate. I asked her why the next day I said why didn't you advocate for me why were you sitting there silent, she said "oh well Cheryl's been doing this for so many years so I let her do it" she should have prepared me for mediation, it was her job to be my advocate when I was in the most vulnerable place possible. I was nervous as we lead up to mediation, she sent me and asked me questions literally for financials again after I already sent them to her only three days before mediation. I was expected to come up and produce during mediation, and it was the one day I really needed an advocate, I needed somebody who knew divorce law. It was clear she didn't as she sat there saying nothing. In mediation I asked her and her assistant Melissa, "please help me." Here I am scrambling for numbers when it was their responsibility to have the numbers prepared and have grit behind their global offer. It was a complete nightmare and still is. At this point I need help and going to the state bar to report the negligence and gross mathematical errors in the spreadsheet. She actually asked my exes attorney during mediation to update the spreadsheet's. She didn't even cross check the numbers? The experience was surreal, and it was a nightmare. It is still an ongoing nightmare because now I have to overturn what's been done. I am now seeking an attorney to take my case and overturn what has been done, and make this right. When I wrote her The next morning and to understand how she came up with the number so I could have a peace of mind, she used victim blaming. I will update this review again as I have submitted the glaring errors on the spreadsheet to her and the mediator Cheryll and have asked them to make this right. At this point I'm going to have to report her, sue her for what I paid her, fire her and then seek another attorney. This is the last thing I need as I am a single working mother. I could've got spousal support and child support this whole time yet she didn't advise me, and led me to believe I could have got it when I went to mediation. She did not explain that was something that I could never get back. She knew my fears going up against my husband. She knew the financial abuse that had gone on for years. She knew my emotions around this and that I was scared even to be at the mediation. No woman should put their trust in her for legal advice. Somehow someway I hope that I can overturn this, and get what's fair. I never asked for more than what's fair, and unfortunately I'm walking out with nothing. read more

I already provided one referral, which I know has also had a very positive outcome for the client--beyond their expectations given the severity of the case. Highly recommend Karen, even for something as simple as a consultation. I sat down the Karen to go over the divorce process and issues that were arising. She spent an hour or so going through the best course of action for each scenario and her advice going forward in each. If she felt she would not be needed in a scenario, she was straight to that point. She is the worst laziest, unresponsive, defensive only for herself, non-advocate for her clients, lawyer I have ever dealt with, and I've dealt with four others on various matters including two that went to trial. I was very disappointed with her service. Karin is not one to use if your case has a potential for litigation. When the other party made an error, Karin did not want to take time to correct it and this was very costly to me. She told me we will get it resolved shortly but later I learned she only had 10 days to challenge it which she failed to do. In addition, she asked for more money than we originally agreed to so I went with another attorney who solved my problem quickly. As a person, she is nice but as an attorney, I would not recommend her. read more

Karin Quirk was nothing less than the perfect solution for my phenomenally turbulent dissolution. Once my former spouse and I took a step back, it was painfully clear we were both being driven into unnecessary conflict by our respective lawyers. Baring us from direct contact allowed both to maximize their "billable time". It took them less than six months to rack up a $50k bill. Out of frustrated desperation we both agreed to reach out to Karin for help escaping our legal nightmare. Karin took our case which appeared to have no end in sight and handled EVERY detail. Her legal expertise resulted in our being divorced in less than two weeks! UPDATE: Once again Karin and company went above and beyond. When trying to update my License to reflect my name change the DOL clerk refused to accept my certified copies. Karin and Patty immediately stepped up and helped me overcome one incredibly ornery Licensing rep by offering to personally verify the documents. They instantly had the court receipts at the ready. Not only did the worker stop trying to exercise an abuse of power, he processed my name change within minutes. AND, offered what was almost an apology! This firm is amazing. Next week, I'm going to Seattle to file my 5th lawsuit against my ex since going through my divorce with the "help" of Karin Quirk. I notice she often gets recommended on local FB pages. Scarey. Now that I'm 6 years into my divorce, which several other attorneys have told me is the worst divorce they've ever seen, I know so much more. Partly due to my horrifying experience with Karin, I'm going to start a divorce support group this fall to educate women who are seeking divorce in how to handle preparing for leaving their marriage and how to find a good divorce attorney. I had no idea what to expect when this all started. In six years, my ex has still never turned over even one financial document. He paid no child support at all for four years while I lived in my garage with my three kids and had many days when I had less than five items in my pantry. I needed Karin to guide me and instead, she ignored me. I do whatever I can to prevent other people from using her. I will continue to do so until she retires. Poor souls. read more

Karin Quirk is a horrible attorney. I first saw her early November 2014 and gave her $1500 to handle my divorce paperwork. I had thought that our divorce would be easy, but my husband decided to lie about assets. Never did she try to get temporary support for me, even though my husband made substantially more money than me. She even had me continue to pay health insurance, vehicle insurance and cellphone for him for 6 months. Next thing I know, it is the end of March and I haven't heard from her. I started calling and emailing. She never answered for weeks until I threatened to file a complaint with the WA State Bar Association and the Better Business Bureau. When she finally contacted me, she asked me to come up with a settlement offer for my husband. At no time did she give me any guidance writing an offer even though I asked for it. The second offer I wrote as if I was her, and she forwarded that offer directly, in essence, having me do her work for her. Again, no help, input or advice from her. My husband did not accept and they demanded mediation. Karin wanted an additional $3000 to represent there. I gave it to her, but reluctantly. When mediation was taking too long to settle, I decided I could not afford her type of "help." I wrote her an email firing her and asking for return of the $3000 mediation fee and half of the initial$1500 as she did not handle all of the divorce paperwork. Our agreement was $1500 for paperwork only. That is how she justified not advising me more. She refuses to return anymore of my money, even though she has not earned it. Buyer beware, find someone else. She doesn't do what she says she will and her communication skills are deplorable. read more

In 2014, my ex and I consulted Karen as we were attempting an amicable divorce. We paid for an hour of her time, during which I later discovered after privately consulting 2 other family law attorneys, 80% of what she told us was garbage. Unfortunately, my ex didn't realize this and labored under these misconceptions for so long and so painfully (for me!), that when he finally proposed a parenting plan and support schedule, even though he earned 80% more than I did, he was offering barely $200/mth in child support! Because of Karen Quirk's misinformation (and my ex's stubbornness and willful ignorance), he refused to listen to reason. I finally hired an attorney to try to talk some sense into him, but he wouldn't listen. In the end, instead of just doing it ourselves, the result was everything that ended up in the finalization was what we had originally agreed to BEFORE Karen mis-informed us, only now we had both spent thousands in attorneys fees and mediation. Don't waste your money on Karen Quirk during this difficult time for you. Get real help. read more

I was terrified to start my divorce process. The stories I've heard from other people going through theirs were not pleasant and I was really dreading it. My then husband and I started the process in a very amicable way so although I am the one who hired Karin, both of us met with her to discuss all the details pertaining to asset division, parenting plan, etc. Even my then husband who has a high bar for these kinds of professionals, was impressed with Karin's professionalism and the way she carried herself with us. And towards the end of our divorce when things got contentious between my spouse and I, she counseled me with such knowledge, professionalism and calmness - exactly what I needed (especially the calmness!), as I was really an emotional basket case. It was the most difficult time of my life, and I don't think I wouldn't gotten through my process with as much stability and rationality as I did had it not been for Karin. She met me whenever I needed it, counseled me fairly, considering my rights as well as my spouse's, her vast experience has definitely set her up to provide great professional and personal advice. I have recommended Karin to a couple of friends in the area, as they know I owe getting through this process in a positive way to Karin's professionalism, knowledge and integrity.
