Great little pet store in downtown Montpelier. We stopped by with our puppy and were greeted warmly by the couple who owns the store. They asked what we were looking for and we asked for something to occupy our little rapscallion of a dog to keep him out of trouble. Fortunately they had a whole assortment of bones and chews for prices that are way more reasonable than one of the chain pet stores. A beef hip you'd pay +$30 for at Petco was $12. We happily paid for our treats while our pup was fawned over by the owner. Definitely recommend checking out this shop if you're in the area! read more

This was one of our favorite stops in Montpelier. We brought our dog in with us who had the best time of all smelling the treats, meeting the friendly Bergamascos. Talking to Cindra, you can really tell her passion and love for animals. She helped us pick out a few treats specifically soft for our pup. I highly recommend stopping here with your dog! read more

I wanted very badly to like this place. I really did. Sadly, the space, products, and owner were a little too "quirky" for my taste. The store itself is very cramped. My boyfriend is 6'3" and had to plan his moves carefully lest something hanging from a display or the ceiling ensnare him. We were looking for quite a simple product (a cat harness) and there were only 2 there. I hate Petco and would much rather shop a locally owned place, but alas... Also, I kind of felt like the owner was following us around. Granted, the shop is only a little bigger than a walk-in closet so there isn't that much free space available. When I see pups in a store, I must go in to pet them. We made friends with the dogs lounging on the floor and despite not having a pet anymore ourselves decided to have a look around because we have plenty of friends and family who do and have picked up toys and treats in our travels. The prices were a little more than I spend and I didn't see anything I needed to buy for anyone's pet. We were being polite pretending we were more interested than we were since we were the only people in there and didn't want to be rude. When the woman asked where we were from and we told her, she got very excited because apparently that's where she was from too, many years ago. We shared stories and then she said she left and hasn't looked back. Matter of fact, she didn't miss it. Uh, okay. Good for her we said. Then after another few minutes she told us how much she completely "detests" our town. What are you even supposed to say to something like that??? I said "well, I love where I live so..." She responded with "Good for you...I hate it there." That about sealed it. I don't know if we hit this lady on a bad day or what and I don't care if someone likes where I live or not but the lack of professionalism was mind blowing. I would never say something to a customer like that to alienate them! We left and my husband was like "WHAT the heck happened? Talk about a 180 and completely rude!" read more

I was there for about 40 seconds before leaving because the lady working the counter was beyond rude. Was looking for crickets (which they don't have), but if they had them, I would have left anyway. Her demeanor and tone were enough reason to leave. Not to mention the store smelled awful, I couldn't stand to be in there for any significant amount of time. read more

I love this store!! I have a rescue cat who has been the very happy recipient of packages from this store and I look forward to my trips from Boston because this store is a happy "destination" for me! No kidding. Nice people, cool products, unusual stuff and I love that it's locally made and different than the box stores. So glad others love it too! read more

Had to add my two cents. The Quirky Pet is a novel take on what would happen if you mixed a small pet store with a Vermont country store. Three shaggy store dogs that kind of greet you if they are up to it. If one walks around with you, another comes up for attention. Oh, I forgot to mention the three dogs have dreadlocks! It is the kind of place where every customer has his/her cell phone out bragging about their dog or cat with an owner who loves animals. It is a throw back to the old neighborhood store. When I have been in there, kids walk in and out to pet the dogs and just hang out and the owner takes her time to chat each and every one up as if they were customers about to spend $100. If there were more stores with this kind of friendly atmosphere.... I wish there were. read more

Aria is the best welcome wagon ever! Everything is made in the USA and from Vermont whenever possible. They have natural treats, fancy treats with frosting, leashes, holistic stuff, bird stuff, cold weather and reflective dog gear, cat stuff, and the best poop bags ever made. read more

Stopped here as we were passing through, the store has intriguing curb appeal that drew us in. They have a very impressive selection of unique dog treats, toys, cat toys, and accessories. Bought a couple of handmade cat toys, they were very reasonably priced (less than $5 each) and my cats loved them! The owner also offered to spray the paper bag with catnip oil to make the toys AND bag into something fun for the cats, which we thought was really cool/thoughtful. This place is definitely worth a stop to find some great stuff for cats and dogs. If I lived closer this would be my go-to for pet treats. read more

This is the best pet supply store around. Cindra really knows her stuff and the store stocks only the best (but still affordable) pet supplies. I love saying hi to her dogs and listening to the birds when I visit. read more
