Our daughter (almost 2 y/o) has been at The Rainbow School for three months and we have been thrilled with our experience. She is known to and clearly loved by all the teachers, not just those in charge of her own class (orange). When she arrives in the morning, teachers passing by in the hall greet her by name and she smiles and runs to hug them. When she leaves in the afternoon, she waves goodbye to everyone she sees. At home she talks constantly about her friends and teachers, sings songs and shares new concepts she learned there, and is always excited to go back. The teachers are also understanding and accommodating. For example, the lead teacher for our daughter's class (who knows all the parents, kids, and their siblings by name) is preparing to leave the school but ensured 1-2 months of overlap with her successor so the kids have lots of time to bond with the new lead teacher and have a smooth transition. She has also been supportive as we explored the idea of potty training (even though that's something they usually focus on more in the next class up). It was important to us to find a place that had some light curriculum but emphasized the importance of play and socialization over just teaching, and we found that in The Rainbow School. Plus, the value can't be beat. Parents who have toured other big centers in the area will notice that the menu is simple, "kid-friendly" food rather than the organic menus offered at some other big centers, which may not work for everyone. But at the end of the day our kiddo is eating and sleeping, she is learning and playing, and she is very well loved. For these reasons, we feel we have found somewhere pretty special. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this school. My two boys have both been here since they were infants and I went back to work. The teachers are wonderful. Some of them have been here a very long time which says something about this place. They're happy individuals who greet me and chat with me everyday when I drop off and pick up. They're energetic, and create age appropriate class activities that support a little one's imagination, and they display a genuine care for my children. Mary, Joy, and Pam are great at what they do. They communicate well and support you as a parent. There are nice little bonus when a child attends here as well. If you have to take your kids to a school, and you want to know that they are cared for and loved. Having a good time and thriving as best they can outside of being with their family. This is that school for me, and I am blessed to have Mary and the staff here. read more

We really loved the Rainbow School. You get that family feeling there and I felt my child that was looked after for and safe! The owner Mary is very reasonable and friendly, and knows what is going on in the school. I liked that she is often around. Everybody there is friendly and helpful, even during the most stressful COVID times! My daughter loved every minute of it, especially time spent with miss Sarah and miss Sheetal, who are great teachers and always greet our family with a smile! There was lot of art and outdoor time, and they have a lovely gym for when the weather is really bad. My daughter also loved the food, snacks and the treats they would have, I.e movie day with pop corn and such. I honestly can't say enough nice things about The Rainbow School. It isn't an easy thing, having to leave your 3 month old daughter to go back to work. My husband and I are grateful that the school provides excellent care, and at almost 5 months, she is excited when we drop her off in the morning. I am very pleased with the amount of attention and engagement she gets from the staff, who truly seem to love the kids. Several times, I have been pleasantly surprised when I pick her up and there is craft that the teachers have made with her (most recently, a turkey made with her handprints)! They even did holiday Santa photos. Worth every penny to know my daughter is in such good hands during the work day. read more

Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. BOTH of my kids went here from 2 years old though Kindergarten. All the teachers loved our kids like their own. Our son and daughter always looked forward to going. Great curriculum, the kids were always learning new and fun concepts. About 2 years ago, I went to tour this school in Klahanie. I was greeted by the smell of soiled diapers and bleach from the washers. They are located in summerwalk at Klahanie apartment complex and the classrooms are very dark and not very well ventilated. The staff at school seem to be more of day care providers than actual teachers. They provide food for kids and kids aren't allowed to carry food from home. You can send organic milk if you'd like which they'd serve at lunch if you give it to them in advance. Thank you Rainbow School for listening, being supportive of our little and knowing her. She walks in knowing everyone and greets as she goes. We've been very pleased. A favorite is; As we live in a rainy place, I really like that even on rainy days the kiddos can use their large motor skills in a gym. There is learning time, a schedule and as a person with a background in child development and a history as CPS SW I've payed attention to the classroom set up and numbers in the classrooms. Yes, I even check bathroom hygiene and the checklists hanging in the classrooms for opening and closing. Children are acknowledged, meaning they know when my kid is there. Of course, it's also a job where staff ebb and flow and the classes effectively watch child safety. I appreciate cameras in the classrooms. It's important. I also have payed attention to diaper changing. It's done correctly. I don't expect perfection, and when I've needed to speak with management I was heard. read more

My kids have been attending Rainbow School since 10 weeks old. My oldest is currently 5. Before that, my nieces and nephews attended and we have had a wonderful relationship with the owners, directors and staff. They are all very caring and wonderful and I wish every kid had the same great experience at a childcare and preschool establishment. We loved that many of the staff remain the same and there is not much turnover. The people really care about the kids. When you walk in, everyone knows your name and many of the parents know each other. They put on great events like parents night out, summer carnival and summer activities for the kids. It truly has been a blessing to have had The Rainbow School in klahanie care for our kids! read more

We do not recommend this child care center to anyone! We started our daughter there at 2.5 years old and consistently saw lack of care. The teachers are literally off the street, with very little formal training. I would come to pick up my child sometimes in the middle of the day and would find her taking care of herself. Her teachers were careless, unengaged and children were crying without intervention from teachers. My daughter was moved to a preschool class and then to a pre kindergarten class within a few weeks. Horrible experience with a director as well who was only worried about collecting money on time and did not care about the kids. Worst possible day care. Don't make the mistake we made. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!! read more

We do not recommend this child care center at all! When an issue arose, the staff seemed not to care. They did not listen or even try to understand our concern, but just kept repeating same phrase over and over. The owner never called us to address our concern, either. Communication is poor. The classroom smelled. The school bus has dents and scratched paint on the side. We recommend looking elsewhere if you want your child to be safe! read more

This is a great school. My daughter has been going her since she was 2 in the yellow class, she is in big rainbow now. She has been there almost 4 years. She loves it there and it's very difficult to find a place that has such dedicated teachers/staff and they actually care and love what they are doing. I get a peace of mind knowing she is being taken care of and enjoys being there. They really don't seem to be cheap when it comes to the kids. They seem to do so many great things for the kids. They get to go on field trips and do many fun projects. My daughter also has Spanish lessons which she really enjoys. I would recommend this school to others. We used to drive from almost 20 miles for her to go to Rainbow School. read more
