    Fire pit and music time
    Linda R.

Living the Wyoming life. We stayed for a night in one of the small cottages. Beautifully rustic. Yes, you get the creature comforts in your room. Outside of the restaurant the is a large fire pit with musician playing after dinner. Full dinner and breakfast available. We had the breakfast buffet. Yogurt, fruit. French toast, biscuits, sausages, coffee. Friendly service. Beautiful grounds, fishing pond, swimming pool. Great, warm hosts. Wish we had a time for a second evening!

Eric and Vicky were great hosts- hot meals and breakfasts after a day in the field. The best dinners were the steak and the ribs and cowgirl mac n'cheese (I wish the bagged lunches would've contained some non-perishable items as well). I can't comment on the cost of the rooms, as mine was part of a scholarship. The scenery was beautiful and near many hunting lands, was surprised it was as spacious as it was with its own restaurant and gift shops. The rooms were "old fashioned" western style and ample, although I can't say I spent much time in the room itself. 2020 #34

If you are visiting Buffalo, Wyoming, staying at the Historic Occidental Hotel is an absolute must…read more The moment you walk through the doors, it honestly feels like stepping back into the Old West. The hotel is beautifully preserved with so much authentic character, history, and charm everywhere you look. We loved exploring the historic saloon, antique decor, creaky wooden floors, and all the incredible stories connected to the hotel. It was amazing knowing legends like Buffalo Bill Cody, Calamity Jane, Teddy Roosevelt, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid all spent time here. You can truly feel the history throughout the building. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and passionate about the hotel's history, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere was cozy, unique, and unlike any modern hotel experience. We also really enjoyed walking around downtown Buffalo since the hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of town. If you love history, road trips, Western culture, or unique travel experiences, this place is unforgettable. The Historic Occidental Hotel is more than just a hotel -- it's a true Wyoming experience and one of the coolest historic places we've ever visited. Highly recommend! We had to get our own menu. Three more employees came by and finally one waited on us. We ordered wings and it took forever to get them. The waitress flung them in front of us and said "here's your wings". No plates, no napkins. There were probably not even 1 pound of wings in the basket. The menu said 2 pounds. No one ever came to see how our food was or if we needed anything else, like another drink. We had to ask to get napkins and that seemed to be a chore for her. After finishing our food, the bartender walked by three times looking at the empty basket but never asking if we needed anything or taking the basket away. We finally got his attention, which wasn't easy, to get our ticket.
