Holy cow is all I have to say. The food was delicious. We had a burger the smoked ribs and chicken fried steak that jalapeño gravy omg.

The spicy hamburger (can't remember the name) I got was really good, just ask for extra napkins because the salsa will be dripping down your hands. My wife ordered the brisket, and while the flavor was good, the meat was a bit dry, so we ordered some bbq sauce to add a bit of moisture and all that was available was from-the-bottle stuff. Just knocking it down one star for that, because otherwise everything was pretty tasty. read more

Driving cross country stopped at this little gem! We were only halfway to California and I told the waitress this was the best burger I had had yet. Well, after finishing the journey I can confidently say its the best hamburger I had in 3000 miles. Juicy and delicious! Plus the cole slaw and fries were to die for. And the waitress was friendly and not in that phony California way. It may be a few miles off the beaten track (or off the I10) but, I guarantee it is worth a few extra miles. I came near the end of a normal lunch so I was the only one dining this afternoon. I was given easily a 32oz drink. I had Carne guisada and it was very good. Large chunks of beef and gravy with a grilled jalapeño and rice and beans. Needless to say I asked for a to go box. Very fire arm friendly as I saw the waitress with her 9mm or .380 on her hip and a cowboy that walked out ahead of me with a six shooter on his hip. A group of us were recently on a motorcycle ride from San Antonio to Alpine Texas and we stopped at The Ranch House in Sanderson. I noticed they had a Green Chile Brisket Cheeseburger on the menu and as I'm a fan of all things green Chile, I went ahead and ordered one and so did everyone else at the table. I've had my share of burgers including the famous Hopdoddy Burger from Austin Texas that people stand in line for an hour and a half to get one, and personally I feel the green chile ranch house burger was as good if not better than any I have had anywhere else. Everybody in our group agreed the burger was excellent The restaurant was clean the bathroom was clean definitely worthy of five stars if a burger is what you're looking for. read more

This is the only game in town for a meal in Sanderson--unless you count the gas station. And it is a very good meal, indeed! True Texas food, and the folks who work there are proud of it. The server told us that the chef grinds brisket for hamburgers, etc., so you can imagine how fresh it tastes. Chicken fried steak can be ordered 6 or 16 ounces--I tried the 6-ounce with green chile-spiked white gravy. It was freshly prepared and delicious and was accompanied by tender green beans and Texas toast. My husband had the enchilada platter which came with the ubiquitous additions of Mexican rice and beans. His meal was really tasty, too, the only downside (to him) being the flavor of the beans. No one else was eating at the time we were there, so we enjoyed chatting with the server, who by the way "packs heat." If we are ever in Sanderson again, we won't hesitate to stop in. read more

We stopped at The Ranch House passing through. They have a good entrance exit for an RV with a towed. It's a gravel parking lot but in good repair and safe off the road parking. The service was friendly and attentive even a bit entertaining. But when it comes to being hungry travelers service can't stand alone. At The Ranch House it doesn't have to, the food equals the service. We had a delicious burger with excellent fries. The fries are what I always want in a french fry but seldom get, real potatoes deep fried to a delicate crisp, something you would think not to be difficult but elusive all the same. We also ordered the chicken fried steak. I don't think I'll ever eat a chicken fried steak again without comparing it to this one. It was served with plenty of milk gravy (although you can get it with brown gray.) The mashed potatoes that were served with the chicken fried steak were so good I ordered some to go. I could only eat half the steak and couldn't see eating the leftovers with out the best mashed potatoes I've had outside my own kitchen. With all the raving you wonder why I only give four stars? It was the poke cake. The server raved about the desert. I know food is a an individual taste thing, but seriously this cake wasn't the real thing. It was boxed and packaged everything and tasted so artificial I couldn't even eat it. It was an insult to the rest of the meal and my taste buds. I would leave this item off the menu and out of this kitchen that does such a fantastic job with everything else that we ate and saw being served. read more

Chicken fried bacon is a thing, and you must try it. The service is friendly, and the food is good. Our table had the red enchiladas, the chicken fried steak, soft beef tacos, and the kid's cheeseburger. All were delicious. I liked it at first, it was a nice and welcomed change, not so much anymore, the honeymoon's over. Some of the food was good, some still is I guess, I don't know cause I don't go there anymore. Customer service is whats gone down, I would go every once in a while to try to "give another chance", each time just reinforced my decision not to bother. Too much attitude and rudeness from the waitress. I don't need eyes rolled and huffs every time I dare have the audacity to ask for something or disturb her with my presence. Then to see a totally different attitude toward certain other customers? hmm... nice, keep your soggy fries, I'll keep my money. read more

I am a Sanderson resident and eat here frequently. This is outstanding home cooked meals and desserts. You can't find better food than here and I come here at least once or twice a week.
