So far, not at all happy with my experience. At the get go, they seem informative and helpful. But once you sign a lease, the going gets tough. We were supposed to move into a home, it's the day before and still haven't received any information or communication. We are moving from out of state and it's pulling teeth to get help from them! They are going to "check everything" the day of and text us a code to supposedly get into the home. So even though we are paying for tenancy starting at midnight, we don't get any information until late in the morning we are supposed to move in. We are homeowners and also own several rental properties and would never treat our tenants in such a manner. We will see how the move in goes. If I could give 0 stars I would. I lived with the rants group for a few years and they were awful. Unkind people who were unwilling to help. They neglected maintenance requests for 6+ months causing a safety threat to us and the property. They are predatory and constantly find ways to get more money from you, while doing no work on their part. I have reached out with concerns regarding our lease, or the continuous rent increase and I was met with no response, or "not my problem." They pick and choose what parts of the rental agreement they want to uphold, or ignore. I will live my whole life telling everyone I know not to rent from these awful people. read more

I am beyond disappointed with Rants. I transferred my property to them a few months ago after a bad experience with hometown property management. Rants did not bother to look at my property before agreeing to manage it. When I asked them to have some siding replaced they finally went to the house and came back with a ton of things that needed to be fixed since hometown had failed to maintain the home. I agreed and was happy to pay to have the repairs done. However, Rants now wants an additional 10% to act as "general contractors". When I told them that I would rather just hire a general contractor they asked to terminate my management contract. This has been going on for weeks. Ms Haglund is not responsive and is not helpful. My tenets move out In 2 weeks and I'm stuck trying to deal with a lackluster and unresponsive management company. Would not recommend. ** update- after I asked rants to proved their request to cancel our contract in writing, they have refused to answer any of my emails. They have not returned my tenants deposit or my management fees. Their behavior continues to get less professional. read more

There is a reason Rants Group only has 2.5 stars. Do yourself a favor and NEVER rent from them. They'll illegally keep funds from your deposit. I escalated my issue up to Pat Rants who took a week and a half to respond and then offered me no assistance. They are not customer friendly and will take advantage of you! I've been in real estate for 25+ years and never seen such poor service. Off to small claims court we go! So unfortunate considering they could have solved this easily. The end of January 2017 brought good things: moving out of the rental we'd been at for almost two years. Yipee! I'll just be touching on the major low-lights keeping this as short as possible. You'll get to look at the photos and decide for yourself. Gotta say, you're lucky there are so many reviews as of today. When I researched rental agencies in Olympia, there was only one review for The Rants Group. *Rental contract was missing pages. We inquired if there were inventory pages for the "living room, kitchen and family room", but nobody at the office could find them. They agreed that they did not exist. Nothing was done about that. We typed up our own list. Real professionals at work here. *The rental was filthy on move in day. We had been assured that everything would be cleaned before we took possession. I complained and Mister McQ told us that "the maid didn't do as good a job as she could have". Um, maid? There was one? - In case you read this and you are said maid: either you do not know what clean looks like, or you were never at Delores Drive. - Before the furniture arrived, I used our $35 dirt devil vacuum. It was pretty grim what I was able to vacuum out of the so called "chemically cleaned carpet". As an *ahem* curtesy, I was even emailed an invoice by Mr. McQ which showed a charge from Heaven's Best. 'Proof' of carpet cleaning? Ugh. If they really did something inside that house, I would not recommend them either. *We had to pressure Mr.McQ to get an electrician to the house and repair numerous electrical outlets before we moved in. *The garage door did not have safety sensors installed. This house stood empty for several months before it was rented to me and my husband. There is no excuse for not taking care of these issues before the new renters move in. In conclusion: We may be "just renters" and small fish in the big Rant's Group pond, but if I can't trust someone with small stuff, how would I trust him with big stuff? Read the fine print! What you think is a security deposit for the property is a hold deposit. Meaning once you have provided those funds, if you do not proceed with leasing the property, they will keep the deposit. In our case, we lost out on $1500 because we ended up not relocating to the area we originally thought. read more

We moved to Lacey almost four years ago. We have been working with Teri Haglund with Rants Group as our property manager ever since. She took her time and was very patient in showing my husband and I different rental properties until we found the right house and neighborhood for us. She is very knowledgeable of the area and school districts. She has always been very professional and handles any problem we have had in a timely manner. Within a day or two! Unfortunately this year brought us bad news that the owner of the property we were renting decided to sell the home. We had to move and that was very stressful. I give this agency zero stars, but Yelp won't allow it. They are completely unfair in their practices and know that tenants have no rights in WA state. The property manager in charge of my property had her boyfriend put in a yard that was a complete mess after a month. On move out we were charged for the yard as well as several other ridiculous charges. They have attorneys on retainer so charge extra attorney fees even when unwarranted. When I moved into my new house the agency I worked with stated they've heard similar things about Rants. Run far far away, especially if you're working with Ms. Haglund. read more

We're in the process of relocating to Washington from an outside state 15000 miles away. We were in town finalizing employment, while trying to view homes. Apparently Washington believes in only "group showings", and they would not personally show us properties. If we could not cancel our work commitments, and make it to the group showing then we're just SOL. We're in town for only 3 days to finalize work and find suitable living, and we're unable to do this. They refused to assist us in finding a home unless we made it to a group showing. Made us out to be a number in an applicant pile rather than people. Deff will NOT be using them for any of our rental needs. I can only imagine what their like after your in a lease! I moved here less than two weeks ago to start my life over in Olympia Washington. I had been searching and searching for a place for my son and I without any luck and couldn't get realtors to even call me back regarding properties. I came across new apartment buildings and townhomes being built at 510 12th Avenue in Olympia. I called and spoke with Terry Haglund at The Rant Group and she was amazing and very helpful. She helped get us into a townhome in just a few hours Terry was professional and friendly and left me with a feeling that I've known her my entire life. Terry is the epitome of customer service. This experience was the least stressful I have encountered while searching for a place to live. Terry took the time during her extremely busy time of year to make sure that I had a place for my son and I to live knowing that we were at this time living out of a hotel room. I felt like she made me a priority and I appreciate all that she has done for us. If you're looking for a place to live and you want to deal with a professional and friendly person Terry is the person you want helping you. Thank You Terry!!!! You are amazing. The townhomes and apartments that are now being built are amazing if you are looking for a great place to live with the feel of the city this is the place for you. I worked with Teri Haglund at the Rants Group when I rented a property from 2016 to 2017. They list a number of nice single family home properties in the Lacey/Olympia area. The property I rented was a well maintained home and was clean when I moved in. During my experience I found that it takes multiple calls, reminders, and follow ups to get action from the leasing agent. On the first day I moved into the house there was some "issue" with the water bill not being paid in past months and the water was shut off. Called Teri, and she was out of town, so i paid the bill at the city and was told that I would be reimbursed for the past due amount. They had also left the key box on the front door of the house. It took 3 to 4 reminders to get reimbursed and to get the key box removed from the front of the house. There were other instances of requiring multiple followups with Teri, but eventually requests were carried out. Romy at the main office is very helpful and when I dealt with her, requests were handled promptly. read more

Over priced for the quality of building. Clearly the cheapest builders and contractors were used. Several tenants have reported leaks and other issues throughout building. Also for having an absurdly high pet deposit, they do a very poor job of letting tenants know when they need to perform inspections (given an 8 hour window in one case). read more

We are filling a complaint against Teri Haglund who works at The Rants Group for her extremely unprofessional and poor service which caused my family undue stress and forced us into an unexpected and unplanned move. From the moment we paid the first months rent, Teri's attitude and treatment of us completely changed. Any request for repairs or issues found in the home were met with rude, unprofessional, and eventually untimely responses. For these and the specific reasons listed below, 1)The carpets were not cleaned as stated, at least not to any acceptable standard. The pictures we took on June 26th 2015 (move in date) show the dust/dirt/dogs hair collected from our initial vacuuming. Teri told us the carpets were cleaned and ready to move in before we signed the lease. Our furniture was shipped from Korea, so we had to sleep on the carpets prior to our furniture arriving. Our son who was 16 months old at the time, spent most of time on the dirty carpets. 2)We gathered two big bags of dog feces from the back yard which was potentially harmful to my 16 month old son. 3)My 13 yr old son¡¯s room¡¯s window screen was broken/bent before we moved in. We asked Teri to fix it but it took two and half months to be replaced. Teri sent her contractor but instead of replacing the bent screen they simply tried to bend it back into place. Teri finally said we had to wait for Jennifer (contractor) to return from vacation, that was on July 2nd. I emailed her on July 25th to see if Jennifer was back but got no reply from Teri. I asked her again on Sep 10th, she finally told me she would send Jennifer to replace it but we needed to pay for all the cost. For the entire two and half months which was in summer my son¡¯s window was rarely open because if opened bugs/flies/spiders came into his room. I asked Jennifer when she finally came to fix the window and she said they went camping for only a couple days not two and half months. 4) Dish washer was broken before we moved in and it was finally replaced a month later. On Oct 26th 2015 we simply asked Teri to have someone come over to take look at the electric system because of repeated circuit trips and power failure for our safety. She did not try to help us as always but in turn sent an email asking us to move out ASAP. The relationship with her has failed by far. We pay rent and all utilities on time and we have a good relationship with our neighbors, we did not break any laws or the house. The way Teri "solves" problems is unprofessional and discourteous. We are not the only family that has complained regarding her behavior and unprofessional attitude. The work order guidelines from The Rants Group website Teri did not follow it at all. The Rants Group rents homes in Lacey/Olympia, many of which are military families, it's very disappointing that she provides such poor and un-accpeptable service. We are filing this complaint in the hopes that our military families will be treated right. read more

Rants group is the worst property manager we have ever used. The manager was un responsive and a joke. We rented our house for two years with them and had tons of problems. Teri Hagland was only concerned with getting the recent tenants to rent another house through her. The paint contractor they used damaged our house, which we now have to get fixed. Her response " you can see it from only certain angles". Do yourself a favor and dont use them, especially if you are moving out of the area because you will still have to worry about your property. read more

My husband and I have been looking for a new apartment for a few months now and I finally found the perfect one! I emailed Teri Haglund for more information, expecting to get a quick response back! After waiting 2 weeks for a response I finally got one with the shortest reply I could imagine to set up a time, so naturally I give her the benefit of the doubt (as I work in the same industry and understand it's a very stressful job to have) so I set up a time to view the unit. I get to the place where I was told to meet her at 3pm , I arrived on time and waited, in the rain outside of the building that apparently you can't even access. I waited for nearly 45 minutes in which time I called her numerous times as well as emailed. Finally, I gave up and went home angry but still assuming that maybe she had a legitimate excuse as to why she did not show up or answer my calls. I emailed her letting her know my frustration and never heard from her. My husband and I were fully ready to apply and put a deposit down on this unit and I am more than upset about the service we received. I had a friend tell me after that she had the same experience, I personally think she should not be working in this industry if she cannot find the time to email someone who went through the trouble of attempting to rent an apartment from her. read more

An inexperienced family member of the owners of the Rants Group handled the rental of our house to irresponsible tenants without checking their references as required in our contract. At every step of the way, she made decisions that benefited the tenants, permitted them to damage our property, and turned our once beautiful home into a dirty, stinky, hellhole that needed all carpets and the (burned )linoleum replaced, new paint, and over $1200 of yard work because the tenants did zero yard work even though it was included in the rental contract that they would maintain the yard. If they did not maintain the yard, it was in the contract that the Rants Group was to hire landscaping services at the tenant's expense. The tenants did over $3000 of damage to our home, failed to pay the utilities, and we are stuck with all of it, according to them. We are not wealthy and this was our only home. We had to move away for work and the housing market was so bad we couldn't sell it. So we rented it and wish we had not. Now we HAVE to sell it for a substantial loss because of this company. After sinking all our remaining savings into the repairs, we can't risk another tenant trashing it. We cannot recommend trusting your property to the Rants Group. read more

i called to inquire on one of the new developments near the east capitol campus a few weeks ago and had the displeasure of speaking with a terri heglund. she is rude, condescending, and unprofessional. i specifically asked her about the layout of a specific apartment complex which is currently under construction. she rudely asked me if i had looked at the website as the layout was online. i told her that i had some additional questions. when i inquired further about the place, she continued to provide unprofessional and rude customer service. i strongly feel that she is incompetent and illiterate to be in this position. i will definitely not consider taking my business to this company as long as terri is there. i did call and complained about her to the owner. not sure if anything was done about it. probably not. read more
