To be perfectly forthcoming, a huge part of the enjoyment and staying here is the fact that I am a big Elvis Presley fan. Let's be real, you're gonna have a much better time staying here if you're already a fan. Having said that, I feel like this place is elevated enough that even a non-Elvis fan could find enough to enjoy here. Perhaps someone who actively dislikes Elvis wouldn't want to stay here, but if you have no opinion on Elvis or our only moderately aware of him, you're probably going to love staying at the hotel. To begin with it's a very secure property. The parking lot is patrolled day and night, and there are cameras everywhere. It's well known that Graceland is in the middle of a not so good neighborhood, so it's a good idea that they are this vigilant. Literally every night they throw a party in the lobby with live music and a boisterous atmosphere in the bar. It's always upbeat music that you can tap your foot or even dance to if you're so inclined. Various restaurants are available at various price points. One of the restaurants even puts out complementary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 9 PM every night if you're so inclined. All of the usual southern cooking is available including barbecue, fried chicken, and other such comfort foods. The common areas are beautiful, and feature elegant furniture and lighting accoutrements. I've always felt like the lobby was something you might see in a place like Las Vegas or New York. The swimming pool is well maintained and includes various seating options with nice soft towels. I've only been out there once, but I enjoyed my time there immensely. The equipment in the Jim could probably use an update, but it is functional and it gets the job done. They were smart to place it viewing the courtyard area rather than the main road. Every time I've ever stayed here I've put in a morning walk on one of the treadmills and it's always worked just fine. The rooms are elegant and make good use of muted colors. Expect to see lots of red and black in your room, along with wood grain finishing on most of the furniture. The beds are typically quite firm if that's your thing, in my case I could probably stand for them to be slightly softer but that's typically not what you find in an American hotel room. I've always enjoyed the showers in the hotel room, which feature a double head including a rainfall option. Bath products over the years have always been high-quality, and I'm pleased that they have resisted the temptation to go to the large communal bottles bolted to the wall. Overall it's a magnificent experiencing staying here, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

There were 30 of us, and we were pleased to all be able to fit into the common area. It was a great meeting space, and we had everything we needed in the kitchen to enjoy our lunch. We spilled out onto the porches and grounds and enjoyed the views while we had lunch. When we broke off into groups into the different bedrooms to plan for upcoming events, we were impressed by the lovely decor and the design of the home overall. I did find a gum wrapper and hair in the made bed. We had mystery noises the whole stay. Our ac makes a loud noise every few minutes like a piece of plastic is banging on something internally. It didn't bother me except at night. The doors make the unlocking sound regularly even though nobody is there. Might lead Some to think Casper visits. There are only a few designated parking spots near building. Next door is the police station and behind is the stadium. You check in at guest services building and then walk behind to the hotel.

I'm not sure how other people set up or if it's always set up this way, but the main table was set up inside the largest room with a snack table set up next to it. The cake was set up on a pretty display in the room across from that. The DJ set up in the pavilion outside and we used the area in front of it as the dance floor. There was outside seating that we all took advantage of when it was time to do the first dance and everything else that comes with a wedding. There were waiters available to help serve drinks and clean up afterward. The bride and groom had actually set up a taco stand outside of the other exit so guests could go get tacos whenever they felt like it for the duration of the taco stand. It was a lot of fun and a great use of the limited space, imo. It didn't feel as tight as I was worried it would and everyone had a great time. I would totally love to come back here.

One thing to note, there is a long, shotgun staircase up to the room level so be aware of that should you have elderly or other similar needs. I consider myself old in my 50s and it is indeed a haul, but waits for you at the top of the stairs is an awesome experience! As far as the nearbys... plenty of food options from pub grub to Thia and Mexican and a steak house that clearly must be something because there were a line of people a block long wanting to get in there! There's also a store a few blocks up with all your basic needs including alcohol. I honestly wish we would have had more than one night and a rushed schedule as I could see myself spending an entire weekend trip there just to chill and we plan to do just that. It's about 22 steps up to the main level. First floor has a convivence store. We were in Room 6 which was great. The was a separate bedroom which is what we wanted. The room had - roll away bed - iron - blow dryer - cereal - milk - bottled water and OJ - coffee - Full kitchen with eat in area The bathroom was large and comfortable. The bed was great and I slept like a baby. The staff is very friendly and helpful Answered all my questions. There were extra snacks and water bottles available if needed. If I ever come back to Memphis I would DEFINITELY come back here. This place is across the street from the Peabody hotel so we went across to see the march of the ducks. lol

Large and spacious apartment-style accommodations: large marble floor throughout, family room, kitchen, large bathroom and large bedroom. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, a cereal and cereal bar selection for the next morning, chilled waters and milk in the refrigerator (every day). The entire right side of our pad was lined with windows and plantation shutters, plants lined the window sills (I don't even have this at home), you could hear the bustle of people outside, the buzz of the downtown. A quick 2-3 block walk to Beale Street, Talbot Heirs is perfectly located. Tom & Sandy Franck are the owners/managers of the property and boy do they make you feel welcome, like a part of the family, a local in Memphis, someone special ... From my initial call to reserve our Suite to the greeting we received upon arrival - first class all the way. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Memphis. We arrived into Memphis late, 11:15p our flight arrive, which I felt bad for Tom who we needed to wake to let us into our Suite. "Not a problem" says Tom as he eagerly greets us downstairs when we arrive in our taxi, ready to bring our luggage up the stairs. If you don't pay close attention, you just may drive past Talbot Heirs, the sign is subtle, more like an apartment building. Just the way it's planned. Tom got us settled in, gave us a map of the downtown area, outlined the free shuttle that can take us to Graceland (our #1 Agenda item of the next day) and some great places to take in all Memphis ... "Do you ladies drink beer?" Me: "Absolutely!" Before you know it, Tom is bringing us a 6-pack to add to our stocked refrigerator. Since Talbot Heirs has full kitchens in each Suite, guests stock their fridges for their stay and sometimes don't finish their adult bevvies and thus leave them for Tom & Sandy. And this was our added benefit - a 6-pack to start our trip! :) We were only in Memphis for 2 nights and were so sad to say Bye to Tom and Sandy. As Tom helped us pack-up the taxi on our way out of town, a big hug and "come see us again" ... Yes, you will!!!
