The UP House is an amazing photo spot.

A must see for Disney and Pixar fans! The Real UP House is easy to see with plenty of nearby parking. This highly themed personal home is a bit of magic in Utah.

I was in town for work and had a free day to explore and while I was looking for things to do in the area, I came across the UP House! Being a Disney fanatic and Magic a key holder, it was obvious that I had to make the drive to snap a few pictures! I checked out the website that the family that owns it put together and what a wonderful story they have! So gracious that they share their home with so many of us gawkers! I stopped for literally 3 minutes to catch a few photos and then I was on my way. Sorry to report no Dug sighting! But not a cumulus nimbus in sight!

Cute dog (this isn't Dug) may not be present on your visit

"Adventure is out there!" I am sure you have seen Disney's movie Up that came out in 2009 that tells the story of Carl and the new adventure he is able to embark on with balloons to take his home, in hopes of making it to Paradise Falls. The movie had so much heart and is a favorite of mine. If only I could visit this home... you may not know this but there is a replica of the home in Herriman, Utah, which is ~ 35 minutes away from Salt Lake City, so you can visit it. This house was built in 2011 and the local developer actually acquired the exclusive rights and authorization from Walt Disney Corporation to build it. This house has the exact same colors, style and charm that Carl and Ellie's home had too. The developer, Blair Bangerter, who built this home actually had no plans to sell the home but ended up selling it to the Hamblin family. What really makes this home very special is that inside the home, it is also decorated like the movie too. This house has 4 bedrooms (2 of which are in the basement but not seen in the movie). One of the bedrooms is decorated as Andy's room from the movie Toy Story. You can watch the video on therealuphouse.com if you'd like to see a tour of the home and learn more about this family. Before the pandemic, fans of the movie were able to book a photo shoot inside (and outside) the home and take photos for a fee. But that is currently not available at this time, although outdoor photo shoots are still allowed (in which you can see on this family's website for more information and pricing). Check out fellow Yelp member's photos from their photo shoot here, it really is amazing. Please note that the owners do live in this home and so it is asked to take your photo and move along so that you do not disturb the people living there or the neighbors. My husband, our little girl dog and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only one's there, as I would imagine not a lot of people would necessarily come to take photos (and stay that long). Unfortunately a car was blocking the front of the house (even though street parking was not allowed on that side of the street at that time), so I ended up taking a photo of my little girl on a hill to block the car. Worth a visit if you are a fan and staying in this part of Utah.

Doesn't levitate on balloons but worth seeing! Just like the Tanner "Full House" house in San Francisco this UP house has somewhat become a landmark for Disney fans to see when visiting Utah. It's an exact replica of Carl and Ellie's house from Disney*Pixar's UP... except it won't float away. This private residence will allow Disney fans to take a few quick pictures from outside the fence. If staying longer than a few moments for photo shoots, etc, you can contact the owners for arrangements -- all photo shoots require a reservation. Wish the lighting was better when we came to take pics but we were facing against the sun. Anyway, the house is super cute and is located in the corner of a quiet, lovely neighborhood with a park across the street. It was well worth the little side trip while we were in town. I would've loved to see what's it's like inside. Bring balloons for a fun picture! Be quick... Review #1798

UP house is ready for Halloween.

Really excellent replica of the UP house. This is a private residence so that's something to keep in mind. I came here in October so it was decorated for Halloween along with some Mickey Mouse decor. I am not familiar with Salt Lake, but i swear it looked much closer on the map than 30 minutes away from DTSLC. Hahhah. Just something to keep in mind.

My family and I are Disney enthusiasts! We were excited to go visit the Real Up House Replica. We are from California but came to Utah to visit family. We have family in Herriman, Utah and this city is clean, safe, and the home is approximately 10 minutes off the freeway. We went to Smith's (10mins away) grocery store to get helium inflated balloons to use as props for our pictures. Which we ended up gifting to other visitors for their pics. I recommend bringing a selfie stick or a tripod. We had a tripod for our stroller and took a few pictures from across street. Pictures came out great from the other side of the street. We saw some people inside the fence and decided to walk over. Understandably so the owner wasn't too pleased to have us walk over. Her first words were, "They paid for a photo shoot." Photo shoots are $450 if you'd like to take pictures inside the home and past the fence. Other than the unwelcoming owner. This is a pretty epic home from my favorite movie! I was wearing my stance Pixar's limited edition socks from UP!!

I had a similar experience like the other reviewer stated- the owner isn't the kindest. It is a cool place to take a photo though, in a super cute neighborhood! It is a little bit off the freeway but if you have some time to kill it's a good photo op. Check out my T REX in front of the UP house!

Such a cute house! Hats off to them for making such an amazing house...my kids love to visit it. We stopped by for some quick clicks late afternoon in December, and the house was decorated for Christmas...I felt like a kid ^_^

"Adventure is out there!" If you love the award-winning 2009 Disney-Pixar movie, UP, this house in a Salt Lake City suburb of Herriman, UT (27 miles SSW of Downtown SLC), is worth stopping by for photos if you happen to be in the area. Please note that it is a replica of the house that appeared in the movie. Also, considering that it is a private residence, please do not overextend your visit. Depending on the time of the year, there will be decorations on the house and the front yard to reflect the theme of the months. For example, fall and Halloween decorations adorned the house when I stopped by in September. I bet the house is adorned with Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations in November in December, respectively.

I had been wanting to visit the UP House for years, but finally made the drive when my family from Texas flew up so we could all experience it together! It was a really fun photo opportunity for us. There were a lot of cars constantly driving past so we had to take a photo, run to the sidewalk, then run back out in order to get the photos of all of us. There is no parking anywhere near by so we opted to driving up to the park across the street and walked down. Not a far distance at all, just worth noting in case some can't make that walk. The house is breathtaking, the colors are so vivid and exciting! It really puts you into the movie for a split second. The owners do not want you staying on the property for more than a couple pictures, so be mindful of that and don't overstay your welcome. It is their house after all! I would want the same for my family.

    Beautiful Real Up House

First time visit! Such a beautiful house with bright colorful in great neighborhood area. I love how they decorate Christmas related to Disney! It's free to take photos outside but if you want to go inside, have to contact them. There's a sign front on their fence explain what you can do to take photos & permissions. You Can park on street since its public but please make sure respect their neighborhood are. And make sure donate some when you see their donation box, anything to support locI wish I could meet the owners and ask about their house history!

And I can still sing the school song from my elementary school here, apropos of nothing. Cottonwood Heights officially goes from I-215 on the north side, down Union Park and across Creek Road, then picks up a little tail on the south side before pretty much encompassing everything on the bench to the east that abuts the mountains. There's a lot of swanky spots especially on the east neighborhoods, and in The Downs, and near the country club. But I didn't live in that part, I was in the much more normal area. We moved after only living there a few short years, but I missed the vibe. These days, it's known for the swanky parts of town, but has also had a blossoming business scene. There's all the business along Highland and 7200, as well as that new massive development at 3200 E where the freeway bends. I think the pin drop for this location is actually the city office, and I've not been inside there. But when I hang out at a friend's house here in Cottonwood Heights, or when I visit businesses, or see a biz with a Cottonwood Heights location, I can usually say it's probably going to be convenient to get to, and pretty nice. That's the most basic way to also describe the city.
