Super cute and nostalgic. The experience brought back so many good memories when I used to watch the movie. It really made me miss my GP. Parking can be found in the residential streets--no issues with that. I didn't go inside, but I think you can schedule a special tour in advance from what I recall reading the sign. Adventure is out there! and so is this home. As a big Disney fan, this had to be a pit stop during my Utah visit. The house is a bit out of the way from where I was staying but we had some time to kill and decided to do a quick pit stop. Being that it was a bit gloomy and a bit chilly and windy, there wasn't anyone outside other than us. The house is so cool and an excellent replica of the Up house. The details to the home and even their garden is truly gorgeous. It is also in the middle of a super cookie cutter home area making it really stand out and just like in the movie. There was parking across the street and some signs outside the home kindly reminding you that people do live in this home so be kind and quick. We were quick in taking our photos the best we could with a tripod and our self timers. Even though the owner did not come out, we still felt a bit rushed in the sense of trying to remain respectful but also trying to get our very own memorable photo. I would suggest to take photos from across the street to get the full home in the background. If you stand in the road, be safe and smart- cars will drive by. read more

I was in town for work and had a free day to explore and while I was looking for things to do in the area, I came across the UP House! Being a Disney fanatic and Magic a key holder, it was obvious that I had to make the drive to snap a few pictures! I checked out the website that the family that owns it put together and what a wonderful story they have! So gracious that they share their home with so many of us gawkers! "Adventure is out there!" I am sure you have seen Disney's movie Up that came out in 2009 that tells the story of Carl and the new adventure he is able to embark on with balloons to take his home, in hopes of making it to Paradise Falls. The movie had so much heart and is a favorite of mine. If only I could visit this home... you may not know this but there is a replica of the home in Herriman, Utah, which is ~ 35 minutes away from Salt Lake City, so you can visit it. This house was built in 2011 and the local developer actually acquired the exclusive rights and authorization from Walt Disney Corporation to build it. This house has the exact same colors, style and charm that Carl and Ellie's home had too. The developer, Blair Bangerter, who built this home actually had no plans to sell the home but ended up selling it to the Hamblin family. What really makes this home very special is that inside the home, it is also decorated like the movie too. This house has 4 bedrooms (2 of which are in the basement but not seen in the movie). One of the bedrooms is decorated as Andy's room from the movie Toy Story. You can watch the video on therealuphouse.com if you'd like to see a tour of the home and learn more about this family. Before the pandemic, fans of the movie were able to book a photo shoot inside (and outside) the home and take photos for a fee. But that is currently not available at this time, although outdoor photo shoots are still allowed (in which you can see on this family's website for more information and pricing). Please note that the owners do live in this home and so it is asked to take your photo and move along so that you do not disturb the people living there or the neighbors. Unfortunately a car was blocking the front of the house (even though street parking was not allowed on that side of the street at that time), so I ended up taking a photo of my little girl on a hill to block the car. It's an exact replica of Carl and Ellie's house from Disney*Pixar's UP... except it won't float away. This private residence will allow Disney fans to take a few quick pictures from outside the fence. If staying longer than a few moments for photo shoots, etc, you can contact the owners for arrangements -- all photo shoots require a reservation. Wish the lighting was better when we came to take pics but we were facing against the sun. My family and I are Disney enthusiasts! We were excited to go visit the Real Up House Replica. We are from California but came to Utah to visit family. We have family in Herriman, Utah and this city is clean, safe, and the home is approximately 10 minutes off the freeway. We went to Smith's (10mins away) grocery store to get helium inflated balloons to use as props for our pictures. Which we ended up gifting to other visitors for their pics. I recommend bringing a selfie stick or a tripod. We had a tripod for our stroller and took a few pictures from across street. Pictures came out great from the other side of the street. We saw some people inside the fence and decided to walk over. Understandably so the owner wasn't too pleased to have us walk over. Her first words were, "They paid for a photo shoot." Photo shoots are $450 if you'd like to take pictures inside the home and past the fence. Other than the unwelcoming owner. This is a pretty epic home from my favorite movie! Worth the quick photo opportunity! My recommendation is if you have not seen the movie to watch it before you go! It is the real life version of the Disney-Pixar movie. I would park on the opposite side of of the road from the house as in order to get its full glory you do have to be away and not standing in the street as it is a real neighborhood. The house is owned and lived in, so they ask politely to respect that and not go past the fence. They are festive through the holidays and always decorate so passing by seasonally is always a treat. I had been wanting to visit the UP House for years, but finally made the drive when my family from Texas flew up so we could all experience it together! It was a really fun photo opportunity for us. There were a lot of cars constantly driving past so we had to take a photo, run to the sidewalk, then run back out in order to get the photos of all of us. There is no parking anywhere near by so we opted to driving up to the park across the street and walked down. Not a far distance at all, just worth noting in case some can't make that walk. The house is breathtaking, the colors are so vivid and exciting! It really puts you into the movie for a split second. The owners do not want you staying on the property for more than a couple pictures, so be mindful of that and don't overstay your welcome. It is their house after all! How cool are these people?!? Many people who own a house that is well visited and photographed are not very nice about it. These homeowners are super cool so please don't bother them. They keep the house decorated and well maintained and looking exactly like the house in the movie. It was nice to check out the house and take a few pictures. While the house is beautiful and perfect to take pictures because it is the UP House, the vibes were definitely not Disney standard. The homeowner came out with the daughter and they were just ignoring our compliments of the house and pretending to pick up trash off the grass to ruin our pictures. Which they didn't ! Ha. If you're a Disney/Pixar/Up fan than this is a MUST on your bucket list. The UP House is located just south of Salt Lake City, Utah in a quiet residential neighborhood. There are people living in the house and it is not a Tourist Attraction. I went on October 2016 at around 7am. I brought my own A brought my own Adventure Book to take pictures with. As soon as we were turning the corner and I saw the UP House, I was blown away. If you want to do a photo shoot, take pictures inside the house, and see the details, you must book a reservation first and through their website TheRealUpHouse for prices. On their website they put the following: There is a site fee for the following with our UP House:You have balloon(s) and/or are dressed in an UP theme or costume, Proposals here, Taking photos for birthday/ anniversary/ engagement/ family portraits etc, You will be here longer than a couple quick selfies, Taking photos of our UP house for longer than a couple minutes. Again, I stopped by early and was there for about 30 minutes. I was also on the sidewalk across the street taking multiple pictures. Cute and definitely fun for kids however when you go see it you almost feel uncomfortable like your trespassing just to get a picture. I'm sure neighbors don't like the traffic and the continuous photos taken, it would be cool if you could for the inside instead of having to do a quick drive by.
