A great chill place, food, beer, great inside seating and great patio with bar! Worth the drive..

I have been going to the red goat since the beginning,times have changed over the year, stoping in the summer is a must on a nice day,the patrons have rotated to a more chain restaurant crowd ,menu is simple now more like a apple BS,service is always top notch,but it should be for how many workers run around probably will see four different service individuals at ur table during ur meal are drinks,great portions,stiff drinks,great drink and food specials each day so don't forget to ask, comfortable inside and out for drinks,music on sundays is the place to be, place is simpler, more commercial like,the food explains it,everyone use to know your name,not the home town bar with the boy behind the bar that will know everyone,and there dog and there business, but more for the family and for pockets of the establishment owners at the end of the day. I'm never turning down a drink are a seat on the patio anytime soon and neither should you,but don't expect the local meat market to be supplying that must try goat burger,but go and stay for awhile and enjoy yourself, a must and your going back again soon? read more

It was a rainy day at the lake so checked out the near by area and stopped into this bar and grill. They have a very nice patio and the inside is so cute with all the "goat" decor. They have lots of beer on tap and the food we tried was good too. The menu is quite large. You can tell it's a popular place. It's located downtown Watkins. read more

Took an hour to get two hamburgers and a shredded pork sandwich. Tried to talk with server but got attitude. If she simply said I'm sorry for the wait and let me go check on your order it would have made a huge difference. Talked with the manager and got song and dance about the sequence of the orders going in. Guys that came in after us and ordered 20 min after us got food 1/2 hr before us. Sad. Again if someone simply would have said let me go check on it my review would be completely different. read more

I'm sorry we tried. Been here 5 times hoping it would be better. Takes forever to get your food and quality of food is poor. Had the "special" one night and got a plate of cold (talking out of the refrigerator cold) mashed potatoes with a little meat mixed in. Here for our last time and have been waiting 45 min for a very basic order. Won't be back. Just saw another couple leaving because they can't get served. read more

Stopped by this joint on the way home from Glenwood,Minnesota. They were really busy so that told me it's the popular spot here. It took a while to get service but we understood. When we eventually got service everything went just fine. We ordered our pasta which eventually came. But the Chicken Alfredo was very good and the waitress was nice. I don't normally frequent bar type places. But I think this place was pretty funky. With a name like The Red Goat it wouldn't be so without a goat head in the restaurant. It is not a bad spot to stop by if you're up this way at all. If they are busy,please just have patience. read more

My gf and I drove through this fine little town of Watkins on the way home from Glenwood MN. This place sticks out with it's fantastic atmosphere and bar title Red Goat! The atmosphere is a bar and grill. Surprisingly they have a great menu of food entries. My gf and I had there signature fettucini alfredo and let me tell you I was surprised at how excellent this dish tasted and was prepared. The garlic bread melted in my mouth. It was just perfect and not too salty. The alfredo sauce tasted fantastic too not too bland and not too runny just like how alfredo should taste. This place is also famous for there burgers and there wings. If you ever drive through Watkins Minnesota please come and check this place out. read more

We had to go up and ask for water from the bar because our waitress was MIA for most of the hour that we waited for our food, while the restaurant was dead. Drove over 40 miles to just check this place out. From the second we walked in we were barked at by the hostess and made to feel very uncomfortable. Got the feeling that this is a regulars place. It was early, shortly after opening and the place was not busy at all. However we did not call for a reservation and nothing indicated that you needed to or were required to. Stayed for a Bloody Mary, which was good, but didn't stick around for anything else. Also the 20 or so minutes we were there this hostess/waitress was very short with many others walking in, she sent a very bad vibe to non regulars. I believe our service might have been better if we hadn't been there on a busy lunch rush during a bad storm -- I think they were under-staffed due to the weather. One of our party had the breakfast buffet, which he felt was too expensive for the small variety and quality of foods offered. I had the commercial sandwich, and it was probably the BEST I have ever had (and I get this at a lot of small-town cafes). The beef is slow-cooked pot roast, the mashed potatoes were real with the skins on, and the gravy had the perfect touch of rosemary. Our party felt it was too cold and had to keep our coats on the entire time. Plus, we never got a carafe of coffee to keep on the table for our "bottomless cup". We will be back to give them another shot. That commercial sandwich is worth making a second trip for! read more

I really, really enjoyed the steak sandwich! Great atmosphere for getting together with a group of friends and having a beverage and meal. Others in my group loved the cheeseburgers. I don't get what the big thing about "cheese curds" is. They're just mozzarella sticks in a smaller form? But still tasty all the same for someone who doesn't live in cheese curd-land. ;) Chicken strips meal is rather small, with only 4-5 strips that aren't real thick. There were four of us and we waited three minutes before being seated. The salad bar was good, along with the beer cheese soup that was included. Once seated, our waitress attended to our every need. She even clued us in on the location of the large plates in order to secure as much food as possible from the 'one pass' salad bar. There was a wide selection of beer available both on tap and in bottles. The food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious; I recommend the steak sandwich or the walleye sandwich. Stopped for a beer on our way from Mpls to Litchfield for a social function. 92 degrees outside, crisply cool inside. Delightful. With 19 beers & 1919 root beer on tap, we were guaranteed a cool, refreshing beverage. Hubby had the Red Goat ale which is reminiscent of Newcastle. Tasty. I had a Shock Top. We asked to look at menus for future reference. They also open at 6 AM for breakfast... While we quietly drooled over the burger selections, a man & woman came out from the kitchen carrying three large burgers stacked with goodness. There were 6 young local folks also seated at the bar. The woman cut the burgers into quarters, passing them out to the youngsters. She offered us some, too. No refusals from us! The burgers were perfectly cooked to medium, juicy & tender with a wonderful seared outside & layered with cheese (I don't remember which type, but definitely NOT cheddar or American), peanut butter, soft fried egg, pickles & deep fried pickled jalapeño slices on a wonderful, slightly squishy bun. Holy burgers! This was their experiment. I would order such a burger. It may appear on the menu or might just appear as a daily special sometime. We were in the right place at the right time. We will go back. Staff were pleasant & helpful. They do sell flights of beers. read more
