Hubby and I are in Litchfield for a couple of months on a work assignment and this is our favorite local restaurant. The owners and staff are so nice, and great about giving good recommendations. We ordered the popper appetizer and each got a different special of the evening. Both were hits. Their food is fresh, not reheated. We are foodies and totally love the quality of food here. Staff was friendly. Makes you feel right at home. Was happy to see they had chicken wild rice for the soup so of course I had to try a bowl. I assumed it was a cream based soup but it wasn't. Even though the chicken broth based soup was a surprise , it was really damn good. I'm also a sucker for a Cuban and fries. Have to try fries everywhere I go. The Cuban was meaty and included meats that were cooked up nice and juicy. The sandwich wasn't lacking anything and tasted real good. The fries were also a good balance of crispy and soft. Parkview is everything you expect from a small town restaurant: great food, service, and a welcoming environment. The scotch eggs are definitely worth getting & splitting with your group. The eggs were slightly over-cooked, but didn't taste bad in any way. Amongst our group we tried the cowboy burger, chicken Parmesan, and Baja fish tacos. And even though those food types are all over the board, they knocked each dish out of the park. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the 3 tacos are a huge portion so you'll probably have leftovers...but no judgment if you don't! I can't say enough about the service. The Parkview Grille is a true gem. And one that is very unexpected and appreciated in Litchfield. It has a well thought out menu and everything is cooked from scratch. I have eaten there divertido times now and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites? It's tough... the Parmesan crusted walleye is a real keeper! The burgers are really interesting... the olive burger is a can't miss. Had the mufalletta today and was in heaven! Don't forget the homemade chips or french fries! A lady who wasn't even our server brought us some toys for our son to play with while he waited for his food. The food was great something I didn't expect from a small town restaurant. We discovered this small gem a few years ago while visiting my father in law in a nearby town. It's become a must on our visits and this last time, we managed to go twice...We usually like to sit at the bar and meet locals- but they have a pleasant dining area as well. There is a full bar with a bartender who is capable of making anything you want...You can tell that the owner takes pride in her restaurant and treats the staff well...She is around and helping the staff- and she creates an environment that is pleasant for the customers. This place is fit for any city - with small town prices!! I love the wild rice soup and my husband had a great prime rib dinner. With limited food options- This is the best in the area! read more

Stop in, the Parkview Grille is great! I'm a neanderthal and I don't have a smart phone. So when a friend and I were driving back to the cities from Pennock, MN, we had no idea where to stop for dinner. We didn't have access to the internet to see all of the great Yelp reviews. Totally by chance, I picked the Parkview because of the well kept front of the restaurant and all of the cars parked along the main street in front. I was NOT disappointed! The food very very, very good. The staff were also super nice and on top of everything. The decor was very nice too, with modern/rustic touches like tin roof accents. I love this great find in my old home town of Litchfield, MN. It's a small place, so make a reservation. The service is impeccable, friendly and fast. The menu has an awesome variety and substantial portions! There is a small bar where you can eat and have a cocktail or beer. They are open from 11 to 11. Coming back for lunch!! I've been here a few times and enjoyed our dinners. The bbq pork sandwich with homemade chips is especially good. I called and asked if the patio was dog-friendly & they said no. Then a few weeks later I walked by and saw they were so adamant about there's a permanent "no pets" sign. This sucks. They are like 1 of 2 restaurants in town with outdoor patios. And they have a great patio! I'd dine here weekly during good weather months if I could bring my dog. My dog behaves better than 99% of kids, which is a FACT. Why punish all pet owners, why not just say "well-behaved pets only" and if a dog is acting up, box their food to go & ask them to leave. So disappointed. What a waste of a great space. read more

Everything from the staff down to the music and general atmosphere was amazing. I had the dry house rub wings and the breakfast burger, both were excellent. The burger was cooked expertly, could've been the dictionary defintion of medium. I also ordered the egg to be medium, which is pretty easy to mess up, but that was also perfect. Not open anymore in the evening because the owner can't find a chef willing to work for him, he's scared away every competent cook in town. The backroom staff is chronically underpaid and mistreated. The employees are great but the bosses suck. When it comes to the food, anything "original" they have came from the chef who started with the restaurant but quit 5 years ago. All of their other "recipes" are just mixing a bunch of premade stuff together and pretending like it's fresh. Most of their stuff just comes out of a box from Sysco. Plus the owner constantly lies to the customers by saying he's serving one thing but actually serving another. When I visit rural communities its not always easy to find great food and service. Brian greeted me when I walked in. He treated me like I was one of his regular customers. It was a great service experience. They had a variety of choice both seafood beef and poultry choices. Their wild rice soup is some of the best I've had. My wife, two hungry kids and I were passing through Litchfield and called ahead as we were going to cut it close before they closed after the lunch rush. The Parkview took our name, and when we arrived greeted us at the door and led us to our reserved table. This restaurant has the nicest ambiance, we were immediately impressed and excited. As an appetizer we had the scotch egg and chicken wings--both really good, but the scotch egg is something you really must get. For our meal we each got something different--the plain Jane burger, the breakfast burger, the chicken panini and the chicken park panini. Everyone was completely satisfied with their meal, and the homemade chips. Everything is made from scratch. The service was amazing too--the server was always available (the place is really small) but never overbearing. At the end of the meal the owner came out and talked with us to make sure everything was to our liking, and I personally thanked him for the scotch eggs. He proceeded to tell us how they are made! (Boil the eggs, let them cool, wrap them in the seasoned ground beef, bake them, dip in buttermilk and panko, flash fry, then bake them again!). He was really interesting to talk to and as a result we actually have a desire to return to Litchfield from the Twin Cities just to visit Parkview Grill. The menu is interesting enough that I would definitely try other plates. Except I wouldn't pass up the scotch egg. read more

In a town with limited interesting food options, I really appreciate this place. Let's face it, rural heartland America is never going to be the epicenter of fine dining, true street food, or a cultural foodie exchange. Litchfield is yet another town to support that stereotype unless you consider Taco Johns or the Pizza Hut to be fine representations of great Mexican or Italian cuisine. (If you do , you may want to get out a little more often.) What the Parkview Grille does do, however, is take pretty standard white bread fare and do it a little better than what you would expect. I'm impressed that this place has a wine list and a decent beer selection as well as some unique daily specials and many things made in house. The service is welcoming and friendly and it is a great place to grab lunch and observe some honest Mayberryesque Americana pass through as they do the same. Bad food, awful service. Took an hour to get a drink. Keep driving past this one!! Owner was rude and talking bad about nearby restaurants. Food was undercooked and cold by the time it arrived to the table. Booths were dirty even though they seated us at the table. This is my favorite restaurant in our small town. I am sad that they got rid of the chocolate mault though, I still love the food though even though I never stray from my same order, chicken strips (and a glass of water), chips, a breadstick, and Andy's mint for dessert. The service at the Parkview is fantastic! My server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Some favorites from my last visit: the Bloody Mary mix is not to be beat, the chicken panini, the meatloaf panini, the cowboy burger, and the fries are great! It's a small place, and it feels so warm and comfortable that I think the size just makes you feel more at home.
