We did have reservations but I'm not sure if the weather or play off basketball kept people away as it was a Friday night. They were still busy but not busy to where you felt overwhelmed and couldn't have a conversation without yelling. If you are on the fence on wanting an appetizer, I would suggest the Kung Pao Calamari. It was very good! Just the right amount of sweat heat! The glazed salmon was very good. The apple shallot glaze was amazing and you could taste it with every bite. The prime rib was delicious and melted in your mouth with every bite! The lobster tail was good but I personally could have done with a little more flavor. The food is decent, but be ready for a sizable bill. The prime rib was not the greatest. Medium rare as I ordered, but lukewarm and lacking flavor. I should have followed my gut and not gotten the surf and turf combo as the lobster tail was small. Ok, fresh flavor, but small. Definitely a hefty price for what you get. I was surprised to find such good seafood so far from the nearest fish monger or airport. But it was very good - I had a dozen oysters and a lobster I think it was about 1.75 pounds. The lobster was perfectly boiled, the oysters chilled and fresh. Honestly - the lobster was boiled better than one I had at the Oceanaire, which had no flavor they must have boiled it in water without any seasoning. Sat in the bar - very comfortable, not too loud, and good cocktails. My buddy had the lobster roll and he said it was excellent. As it is out in the burbs, you also get plenty of free parking as opposed to heading downtown. A long drive, but happy to have made it. We recently had a surprise birthday party for my wife at Bait and Hook. I reserved the back room which accommodates 16 comfortably. Everyone in our family group was satisfied with food quality and taste. Service was excellent. Thanks to Wyatt and servers assisting him. Owners Alesha and Mehi the chef do a wonderful job. We held our Daughter's wedding dinner here and come here on a regular basis and are always satisfied. Alesha resently updated lighting and decor. Fun place to dine. WOW, it was our first time here and definitely won't be our last. Amazing atmosphere and very attentive staff. The chef even made rounds to check on everybody!! We started with Kung POW Calamari that was perfectly breaded and deep fried to perfection. The Kung POW sauce was on point too. We then both had fish and chips.....WALLEYE fish and chips. Again perfectly fried and it was obvious that the fish was fresh. The little one had Mac and cheese (alfredo sauce with garlic) and she LOVED it.....so did we!! My husband and I had dinner at Bait & Hook last night for St. Patrick's Day. I had the Irish stew and bread it was fantastic, Jake had prime rib it was tender and delicious. While the food was amazing NONE of the staff or owners had the respect to address the table with the obnoxious children laying on the floor, loud and disruptive to every other patron trying to enjoy a meal with family and friends. The fact that our waitress as well and the waiter for the table apologized for the behavior at the table and lack of parenting. The owners should be absolutely embarrassed for allowing this poor behavior to be allowed, and putting your staff in the position to have to apologize to the patrons because they don't want to address the circus in the dining room because they make their money on tips. Maybe the chef and owner(s) should have been as attentive to the guests dining inside as they were to the event on the patio. Then to add further insult you couldn't even get our to go dessert order correct because we couldn't actually enjoy it at the restaurant. read more

I ordered the chowder & lobster mac & cheese, and my BF opted for the fish & chips. The clam chowder was great, very creamy with lots of clams & corn. Lobster mac was just okay. Not a lot of pieces of lobster but a pretty decent portion of pasta, nonetheless. My BF liked his fish but said the tarter sauce was awful. I tried it, and agreed, it had a strong, almost spicy like taste. Not what you'd expect for tarter sauce. It was quite a drive coming from the Twin Cities but we were told it was worth it. The savings on the appetizers which were high quality was great. However the lobster roll barely had any meat in it compared to others we have had in the Twin Cities for similar pricing. That was very disappointing. Other entree item prices were comparable to other seafood restaurants we have been to that are a little more classy. Part of me liked that it wasn't fancy. The service was so so. The server wasn't rude but wasn't real friendly either. I think the only way we'd return would be to make a nice motorcycle ride out of it and just stick to the appetizers. Apparently you have to be a local to get decent service- unless you consider overly condescending comments as polite. The portions were extremely small for what you pay. Chicken Wings were a tad rubbery and very fatty- like they weren't cooked or rendered enough. Lobster roll was greasy and had hardly any meat. Also they serve seasond pub fries?! I would've expected something a bit more orginal. I mean this place raves online with pictures and a bunch of twin cities chef testimonials of how amazing of a place it is.... nope. All the good things we had heard about the Bait & Hook turned out to be true. When four of us took in our first meal on Saturday, July 22. We had reservations and when we arrived, despite a very busy dining room, we were seated immediately. My wife and her brother had a Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay and were very satisfied. Sister-in law had a beer and I had an ice tea (rather weak, but brewed). Our dinners included red snapper, salmon, shrimp & grits and fish & chips. All reported that they were very happy with their meal. My fish & chips was great. The cod was done perfectly, with a crisp delicious beer battered crust; seasoned fries were crisp and delicious, the cole slaw was awesome. My only complaint I had was my salad. Touted as loaded with fresh vegetables and bacon, I counted only three peas, four radish slices and lettuce for the vegetables. There was plenty of bacon and it was well dressed, just not enough other veggies. My wife had the same salad, but had a deep fried avocado topping it off, she found the avocado inedible. The $1 for the avocado was taken off our bill. The four of us shared 2 desserts chocolate cake and and vanilla gelato. I usually not impressed with desserts, but these two were to die for.
