So I am a phase 5 in a phase 1 class. And for those of us with hearing problems I wanted to point out something that Rsi Refrigeration School does for its students that are Hard of Hearing or Deaf. In these images you will see some slides of what is taught in class and you will notice at the bottom of these slides are some white words on the black background. RSI is basically ensuring the success of all of us in the hearing impaired world because the school uses a central microphone in the classroom. The microphone catches the instructors voice and the master voice and, in real time, puts what he says on the screen. Which in itself is awesome. BUT, not only does the microphone pick up the instructor, but when a student anywhere in the classroom asks questions, those words also show up on the screen. read more

May 11th, 2024 ** everything was fine until I was randomly and out of nowhere approached by a couple of racist employee's and threatened and cussed at in a very disrespectful manner. I recommend Spanish and black people who value themselves do not attend this school. They carry a very discriminatory demeanor. Which is surprising being that they do business around a bunch of black and Spanish people. Most of their employee's are white and very hickish, and carry the aura that they get to talk to anyone however they want. Most of the people that thrive and do well here happily without any issues seem to be white. Black and Spanish people in my opinion seem to express a general nuisance and annoyance while going through the program. Some resorting to complete silence and submittance just to make it through without dealing with disrespectful employee's. Some of their employee's stalk around the halls in a very lurking and predatory fashion. Bringing discomfort to some types of students. It is the general expectation that they get to raise their voice and scream and talk to students however they want. Making any sorts of complaints to staff appears to result in extreme backlash and violent outrage toward student. It is my opinion that if racist employees are not removed than the school will be shut down. I would also note that they are requiring students to sqan QR codes for "student satisfaction" and also to clock in and clock out, and QR codes are of course known for cyber security issues. may 14th* After filing a report with the correct authorities I received a phone call from the president whose name is "David" he appears to have been unaware until I made a complaint of the issue, and says specifically he is going to look into it, and I am standing by to wait and see what he does. I have decided to continue to attend the school based on Davids word. I will continue to provide update to review accordingly. may 17th ** It appears that David has kept to his word and has completely changed the situation during the week. It appears thus far that is the issue I had mentioned previously has been corrected, I have not heard yet from past two guys I initially had an issue with, but things have been going well during the week. The teaching is great and I am getting a lot of good welding time in, and I feel more comfortable and able to focus on learning. read more

About to complete the mechanical maintenance engineering degree to get my associates degree. Spent 9 months on campus and the rest online. The school has very knowledgeable instructors. If you want to succeed you need to pay attention, take plenty of notes and ask plenty of questions. The school is great for the ones that are willing learn. You get what you put into it. Seen plenty of students slack that will meter succeed while others that were willing to learn and become the best. read more

******Pay Attention Future HVAC Techs ******I am redoing my rating of this school. I will say that the welding program is the only thing that should get positive reviews. I am going to tell you that you should just find a company that will take you as an apprentice. I have been at this school for almost 5 months and have learned more in the field with working machines. 1. More than 80% of the hvac systems you will be working on are not working and they just give you 100% if you attempt to figure it out 2. They will re teach you electrical trouble shooting every phase. There is no Standard Operating Procedure at this school. I have learned to troubleshoot 3 different ways from 3 different teachers. 3. Anthony Abbs who does comfort systems has been at this school for years harassing, robbing education to students, and most importantly is a child and likes to pick fights with his students. 4. I was promised i will get a new multimeter due to a handful of students getting a lesser model but still paying as much as those that get the better one. But Ed the head teacher which says something told me " Its luck of the draw on those things." But im sure if i told him that he would be offended but i got bullied by ed and was told in front of grace that " Andrew Is a child and feels entitled." No bro i am not entitled to your opionion im entitled to what i paid for. 5. They will make empty promises half the time. 6. I finish each class within 2 weeks and have been told "You do not have to come back to class till the 26th." This tellls you they have no teaching formula and stick "Instructors" that all contradict each other in every possible learning scenario. 7. This school will charge you 20k for things that you can learn for free in skillcat. Yes you can test for free through skillcat and get your EPA for Free through skillcat. Conclusion dont let grace or any student services that are signing you up for class lie to you. They will tell you if you do our EMT program you will be certified to be an electrician and hvac tech. This is far from the truth, you will not be certified in anything besides your EPA card. Half of the employers out there will still start you as an apprentice after graduating RSI. read more

Best nine months of practical knowledge and hands off to break into the trades I have spent!

Awesome electrical and refrigerationand welding program. Those programs seems to be the main focus of the school. I did everything except welding and also recieved my associates from them. The Associates Program needs ALOT of attention. No hands on like the other programs just a bunch of you tube videos. read more

(10/31/2023) poor student services being enrolled in night classes I noticed no support system in place by relying on student ambassadors for tutor it was nice at first but slows down as you progress through the phases, I'm currently in phase 8/9 been trying to reach out for Tutoring to keep me on track each class is full and very few units to get hands on experience so everything feels rushed at last minute when you finally get a turn. My other complaint is the online classes having us take tests at home normally that's a good thing until you can't navigate through the changing sites, they require you to have and if you can't sign into tests your SOL contacting services and forced to repeat class. when student services reached out, they wanted me to come in earlier but my current schedule conflicts with that "why I'm in night class" and I can't stay after because school closes after 10pm and everyone leaves for work the next day. read more

I went there back in 2019. The teaching is horrible. The classes are drawn out MF you get about 5% hands on training. I learned more being a helper for a company in 30 days than I did wasting thousands of dollars with RSI. The EPA teat is easy and can be done at any American refrigeration store. Save your money and become a helper with a company or find a shorter school with better material and more hands on training. read more

Be prepared to waste hours of your time (4+ in my case with GI Bill funding) for the application process, financial documentation and other administrative processes only to then be told, on site, 5 minutes before orientation, that they don't have any seats available for the either of the classes that they supposedly had openings for earlier that day. Then a week later, like a slap in the face, you'll receive a letter of acceptance signed by the Campus President, the very same president that informed you that they didn't have any seats available and had wasted your time. Although, by his generic printed signature, its obvious that he didn't really sign it, and you aren't really eligible for the class like the acceptance letter states. Their admin department is just obviously incompetent. The experience was disappointing and greatly frustrating. I think it is further disrespectful and wholly unprofessional to then send me a false acceptance letter, stating that I was accepted to the class when in fact I was not. One of the best trade schools around. It helps you get the building blocks you need to form a successful career in the trade industry. Rude of thumb is you get as much out of this school as you're willing to invest. My best experience in this school would be phase 2 in Rays class. He was very knowledgeable and a joy to learn from. People who "recruit" you are high pressure salesmen. 9/10 of the teaching staff are lazy, incompetent, and actually know less than the students whom they are supposed to be teaching (they enjoy getting paid to start class 1 hour late, taking a smoke break every 45minutes and leaving students to teach themselves), if i could give 0 stars i would. I was a Top Welding student here from 2018-2019, their equipment wasn't taken care of, barely mentioned anything about prints, I don't have a job welding even though they promised me one, and cheated me on an extra loan. I attended RSI back in 2008-2009. This school provides you with a lot of technical information and gives you all the basics in order for it to be a smooth transition to a company. Like any training or schooling there are things that can only be learned in the field and I did learn a lot more after I was in the field. Now that I've been in the field for 8 years, I have my own successful HVAC business and that all began at RSI. Thank you. read more
