Our entire nursing and care staff are AMAZING. You can see the genuine love for their jobs and the residents. Raena, our Community Relations Director, truly cares about the people that she brings in. She is thorough and makes sure that a prospective resident will be the right fit at our community. If she believes that we cannot offer them something they need, she will help them find another place to go instead. That shows miles of integrity, to me. Our residents touch my life on a daily basis. I can come in to work with an empty cup and leave overflowing. You just feel good when you walk in the doors. There is something in the air here. I would be honored to have a family member, or loved one, live here any day. This is truly a magical place.

I was impressed by the staff's quick responses to emails and their patience with us as we floundered around not knowing what was going to be best for dad. Shout out to Jodi and Ollie, who took us on many re-tours and answered all of our questions. I especially wanted dad in the memory care at Chateau. It seemed like the right place for him. We were ready to move him in and our lives took a shart turn and he did not move in. But, our experience with the staff and their concern for what was best for dad needed to be acknowledged. Thank you!

Everything I said in my last review is still true but I have upgraded my review from 3 to 4 stars…read morebased on improved food offerings and our overall satisfaction with the facilities, staff, activities and neighbors. We are in our early 80s and the majority of our fellow residents are 5-10 year older but we have established some good relationships that we value. Maintenance in the facility is top notch. If something breaks, it gets fixed quickly and efficiently. Every week, there are interesting excursions to gardens, theaters, museums and performances at minimal cost and included transportation. An extensive assortment of fitness activities, a fully equipped exercise room and an indoor pool are first rate. Finally, we feel that the food offerings have improved noticeably to a level on par with what I would cook myself. We do not expect to ever see restaurant grade offerings or food that is exotically spiced but we are satisfied with the everyday fare. We are confident that we made the right choice to move to Wesley Des Moines

This place values money over its employees! High turnover…read morerate. Home health workers have to work off the clock to stay under a limited time frame. Complaints among many employees flow like water from a dam that's burst, however, positive feedback is enforced with penalties if an employee doesn't post at least 3 a month. Residents and their families have voiced concerns over rising costs contrasted by less staff and longer wait times for assistance. The food served to the residents is dismal. At breakfast, the food is either burnt or gelatinous from sitting in a pan too long. Bistro food is good, aside from the stale desserts. The food served to the memory care residents is low quality and and difficult for them to eat it. For being a Christian based company, why does it feel like it's ... not..

I vetted many assisted living facilities, with the help of a place for mom, and independently searched others on my own, all doing tours and serious meetings. My father is very critical and I knew in order for this to work I would have to find the right spot. Immediately I know this was the spot after touring many. The staff have helped me and my father so much, from my emotional downs, to all the logistics of this change. He uses both their physical therapy and their assisted living that is available. All have been great! Because it is independent the cost is so much more affordable but still it offers everything an assisted living facility offers. The place really is a gem and you must stop in before you make any decisions for your loved one. They do it right. One thing I found when touring is I paid very close attention to the residents, where they happy, these residence are very happy, the other day they where dancing during the Friday happy hour with a live singer songwriter they had for the social hour. It is such a sweet community. Also I would notice if the staff were happy and proud of where they worked, immensely, and they help so much. To sum up my review, which I don't review typically, but have so much gratitude for my dads new home I had to, the one thing my Dad has praised me on since this life change for him is, "You really found me a good spot to live." So thank you to the staff and to this community for being a haven for us during this time. So much gratitude.

They always put me in a good mood when I went in to pay my bills. -Fast maintenance. Literally would put in a request and it would be fulfilled within the next two days. I've never had such fast maintenance in a complex. -Very safe. I have never felt unsafe coming home late at night, or have had any strange encounters with other residents. My car has had no damage done to it, I always felt okay leaving it parked. -No surprises. There were no hidden fees or anything of that sort. Neighbors were respectful. -Overall a great experience! The bad: -Parking can be challenging. We ended up having to pay $25 more for another spot a month because the visitor parking is not always guaranteed. -Small Apartments. Pretty cozy in these apartments! But you get what you pay for. -Meh appliances. Kind of cheap W/D, shelf in kitchen broke, handle on bathroom mirror fell off. Maintenance was always very responsive in these situations though, so I can't really say it was too bad. And again... you get what you pay for, and we had a cheaper unit. -Children can be loud. Overall they are sweet and respectful kids, just be aware if this is something that bothers you.
