I graduated with my BA from Tech in 2012 and my MA in 2014, and with this being my first visit to Ruston since then, we booked this hotel for our anniversary trip (was supposed to be in Boston, but Covid happened). This hotel wasn't here back in the day, and it is really a beautiful place to stay. The staff is friendly, and the housekeepers are extremely cordial and will do everything to make your stay the best possible. That said, we booked our stay as titanium members and hoped to get an upgraded room since that's what the status entails. Instead, we were placed in a small room with a tiny closet and two drawers to store clothes for six days. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Lots of additional storage opportunities could have happened - especially under the bathroom sink, a larger chest of drawers, and under the bed. It appears the designers missed the mark there. We were also told housekeeping would come by every third day. It didn't happen. We had to ask housekeeping to come by on our fourth day to freshen the room. The gym has a lot of towels, so my husband would grab towels there and bring them to our room. The front desk staff was also mediocre. They were friendly here and there but mostly seemed uninterested. I stayed at the Hampton with my parents when they visited me while I was at Tech, and that hotel offers larger rooms and better storage if staying for several days. Part of me wishes we had stayed there for the sake of ample storage. If you're staying a night or two, the room is just right. The other thing we didn't care for was the mattress. My husband and I like our beds FIRM, and this one was way too soft. The on-site laundry room has two washers and two dryers, and it was pretty hectic trying to do laundry when others were using the machine as well. All of that said, I would stay here again but not for a long length of time (unless I paid for a larger room). We noted it was our anniversary, and nothing was said upon checkin - and we weren't given a larger room, even though we had a high status as Marriott members. Those factors, plus the lack of storage, are why I didn't give a full five stars. I do hope this hotel does well since the only other good one in town is the Hampton. The location of this Courtyard is prime, and you're within five minutes of downtown, Tech, and restaurants.

When I checked out I was charged a pet cleaning fee for my service dog which was not supposed to be charged. When I saw it on my receipt I was told it was a charge that would fall off well it never did. I also was charged for drinks to my room which I was told they would credit back and they re charged me. The venue has an extensive outdoor area (weather and temperature permitting-Louisiana peeps will now what I mean, lol) for almost any type of event, party or get together such as a family reunion or even a company Christmas party. They have (2) outdoor smokers if you want to cook your own food, they have a bar setup as well. They have table and chairs so you do not have to rent your own to bring to the venue. It is a truly magnificent venue Cotton and it was understandably bustling with a very lively, chic Saturday crowd. The interior design is absolutely exquisite. I was deeply impressed by the sophisticated decor and the stunning murals that grace the space. It had been quite some time since my last visit, and stepping back inside reminded me exactly why this place is an absolute standout. I was escorted to a wonderfully private table, which allowed for a perfectly serene dining experience despite how busy they were. The service was entirely impeccable from start to finish. I began the afternoon by speaking with my attentive waiter and ordering a classic Bloody Mary, which was mixed to absolute perfection. For my selection from the menu, I chose the Deviled Farm Eggs, and they were a total culinary triumph deeply satisfying and beautifully presented. Between the vibrant atmosphere, the flawless service, and the exceptional flavors, the experience deserved full marks. Second time here and still delicious…read more We tried to go Friday and the parking was insane, that's probably my only complaint about the entire experience . We started with the upside down chicken Caesar salad with fries. Delicious. Fries could've been hotter but the salad was the star. A meal on its own but i love that red fish so much. Mr. Pat & Mrs. Kay are the owners and they are hands on at all times. They run the whole show, so you deal only with them and the interactions with them were always very pleasant! (When a business owner is dealing with customers, you usually get THE best treatment.) These 2 people are the kind that make you feel like you've known them forever. Booking our weekend was effortless. They took our information, and told us to call whenever we needed directions or help. They promised to turn on the air conditioner earlier in the day so that our cabin would be cool by the time we got there.(Spotless cabin, may I add. But more on that in a minute.) We ran into Memorial Day traffic and, therefore, ran very late. Never having met us, they told us they'd leave the key by the door to the cabin for us. Are you getting a sense of what kind of people they are? Upon turning onto the property, we felt a sort of serenity with the moonlight gently giving us a sneak peek at all of the natural beauty we would be surrounded by for the weekend. We were excited to see this beautiful piece of land in the morning sun! As we walked down the rustic wooden bridge that led to our cabin, we were treated to the delights of a country night; the still night air, the birds singing their greetings to us, the sound of the water trickling through the tiny creek, the steady rolling hum of the windmill, all accented by peaceful quietness. And the doves! Can you imagine having white doves flying around, always in pairs? On the front porch of the cabin were a rocking chair and a porch swing. How welcoming! The inside of the cabin was spotless and, as promised, cool. There were soft clean linens on the beds with nice, fluffy pillows. The bathroom had a variety of complimentary toiletries and fresh towels and rags. There was a heater nestled in front of a wall designed to outline a cozy fireplace. They even thought to put a game of Dominoes on the mantle! They went out of their way to add the little "homey" touches that really make a difference. We went to bed looking forward to relaxing in the sparkling pool the next day. (And we slept sooo good!) After a delicious breakfast of Strawberries Romanoff, French Toast with crispy bacon, orange juice and coffee, Mr. Pat told us some of the history of the house (there since 1902) and grounds, like Lindbergh having landed there in 1923, 4 years before he "crossed the pond." Mrs. Kay gave us a tour of the house (also their home) and shared more of its extensive, and quite interesting, history. Stepping into some of the rooms, we felt like we'd been transported back into time. For instance, entering the parlor gives you a sense of how life was back then. The décor and furnishings and timed pieces allowed you to feel like you were there when it was all brand new. The antiques and old pictures of the original family make you experience a personal connection with their past. Edgewood Plantation offers an excellent first and last impression! Whether you're in the Cabins or the Bed & Breakfast, it's a place where you can relax, with no chaos or responsibilities and feel at home while away from home. A retreat. Mr. Pat and Mrs. Kay work hard to make sure that Edgewood is not just a place to stay, but an experience!

The hotel offers a continental breakfast with eggs,waffles and other items. If you miss it there is a waffle house down the street. There is ample amount of parking. The pricing was a little high. But I would look to stay again.

Well, I have to say, despite the many negative reviews, my experience thus far isn't of that…read morenature. I guess I can attribute it to the current renovations underway. I'm here for 3 weeks and I've come to appreciate my new alarm clock in the form of drills and hammers banging on the walls below me lol. It's all good though. As a Marriott platinum elite member, I've lodged at numerous hotels and I'm all for upgrading, especially when it enhances the guest experience. So, for the good....the room is spacious, including the bath area. The bed is comfy, the AC gets extremely cold and the blackout curtains are fantastic!! The lobby and dining areas are very nice, updated and comfortable for your leisure time. There is a gym and pool on the first floor across from the elevator. Breakfast is your usual. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal with all of the fixins' and condiments. Yogurt, juice, fruit, breads and coffee. For the not so great, there aren't enough electrical sockets in my room and the fridge is rather small. I wish there were rooms with bigger fridges for longer stay guests. Other than that, I'm very well pleased and would certainly recommend this establishment for lodging.
