Understand that at this establishment... you do not matter. If I ever find myself in this place I will be sure to record the entire interaction with staff to hold them accountable. People above us were jumping around all night between midnight and 4am. My sister in law had to call the front desk three times to finally get it to stop. We were staying in 306 and she was in 308. My sister in law got refunded her stay for calling while we just suffered. The staff at the front wasn't friendly at all, either. Won't stay here again. I don't advise that you do either. read more

My husband and I have stayed here for five nights, which is more than enough time to formulate a solid review. I graduated with my BA from Tech in 2012 and my MA in 2014, and with this being my first visit to Ruston since then, we booked this hotel for our anniversary trip (was supposed to be in Boston, but Covid happened). This hotel wasn't here back in the day, and it is really a beautiful place to stay. The staff is friendly, and the housekeepers are extremely cordial and will do everything to make your stay the best possible. That said, we booked our stay as titanium members and hoped to get an upgraded room since that's what the status entails. Instead, we were placed in a small room with a tiny closet and two drawers to store clothes for six days. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Lots of additional storage opportunities could have happened - especially under the bathroom sink, a larger chest of drawers, and under the bed. It appears the designers missed the mark there. We were also told housekeeping would come by every third day. It didn't happen. We had to ask housekeeping to come by on our fourth day to freshen the room. The gym has a lot of towels, so my husband would grab towels there and bring them to our room. The front desk staff was also mediocre. They were friendly here and there but mostly seemed uninterested. I stayed at the Hampton with my parents when they visited me while I was at Tech, and that hotel offers larger rooms and better storage if staying for several days. Part of me wishes we had stayed there for the sake of ample storage. If you're staying a night or two, the room is just right. The other thing we didn't care for was the mattress. My husband and I like our beds FIRM, and this one was way too soft. The on-site laundry room has two washers and two dryers, and it was pretty hectic trying to do laundry when others were using the machine as well. All of that said, I would stay here again but not for a long length of time (unless I paid for a larger room). We noted it was our anniversary, and nothing was said upon checkin - and we weren't given a larger room, even though we had a high status as Marriott members. Those factors, plus the lack of storage, are why I didn't give a full five stars. I do hope this hotel does well since the only other good one in town is the Hampton. The location of this Courtyard is prime, and you're within five minutes of downtown, Tech, and restaurants. read more

One night stay on the 3rd floor - far from elevator: Note: I can be picky about hotels. I truly believe that owner/managers/chains have an obligation to create a good experience away from home. They should also note that while the stay is temporary, it makes a lasting impression on the person who paid to stay with that hotel The customer service was exceptional. We were addressed as we entered and left and given ideas for our short stay. I like the extra touch of coming from around the counter to give the keys to you. The gym was surprisingly good - treadmills and cycles with connected TVs - headphones for those of us who only own wireless. Water pressure was good - Reason for not giving full stars was that it seemed like the room needed sweeping and mopping - plus a couple of house keeping attentions. There is a different smell on the first floor vs the third floor. I believe they are aware of these weird nuisances as I saw a venting fan working in a corner. The third floor has no real way to vent air so it is something to work on. I was definitely torn between star ratings. I would try this location again if I was visiting Ruston. read more

Hello, I found myself on an excursion to Ruston, Louisiana 71270 and settled on the "Courtyard by Marriott Ruston" as my lodging of choice. I have been here before and am normally satisfied with on all accounts but this time was different. Upon checking in with the front desk, they assigned me a room on the penthouse level, the 3rd floor. Excited, I strolled to the elevators conveniently located near the lobby to find one of the two units was out of service! This caused a delay in my schedule and is dissatisfying as I had to spend the rest of the afternoon making up the lost time. After a delayed ride up to the 3rd floor, I found my room and made entry. However, this is when the true horrors began! As soon as I opened the door I was greeted with a banana peel, and a water bottle in the trash can! This startled me as clearly this indicated the room hadn't been serviced and therefore had potential viruses embedded throughout the room. Scatterbrained and angry, I was further delayed as I went to the front desk to request a new room. Once there, I informed the front desk of my findings and was met by pure confusion when I made my change request. However, after about 6 minutes the issue was solved and I was in a new, banana free room! Lastly, as I began to settle down for the night, exhausted from what I faced, I noticed my eyes were dry and decided to purchase eyeball lubricating solution (commonly known as eye drops) from their in house store. But would you believe me if I said they were expired! I am very lucky to see the light of day after using the expired product on such an important part of the human body. The saving grace of this though, was an attentive front desk worker who apologized for my struggles and refunded me the money. With taking in all variables, factors, and accounts, I proudly rate the "Courtyard by Marriott Ruston" 3 of 5 stars. Good day. read more

CHECK YOUR SHEETS!!! 03/19/2022 Bed sheets/mattress pad/nor pillow case are being changed...after staying one night in room 230...I always pull my sheets off the bed to make sure that they are changed for the next guest...just to see blood on the mattress pad...reported it on check out and nothing was done/I also emailed John Deason the general manager took a couple of days for him to respond with what seemed to be an automated message...the SLEEP INN IS BETTER THAN THIS PLACE!!! If you're ever in an accident on RT20 and find yourself stuck in Ruston LA for a few days this is the hotel to stay in. The Courtyard brand has recently gone through a renaissance - changing the chain to be more millennial friendly. As much as I rolled my eyes when reading about these changes I must say they did it right. The check in desk are now small kiosks still manned by a person. They have a pantry store next to check ins with snacks, drinks, etc. WiFi is free throughout the property; up-charge for more bandwidth for streaming. The Bistro is a loungey area to grab a cocktail, coffee or meal -- unfortunately not open all day so check the hours. There's a huge living room with a tv and computer just for hanging out. The outside has a pool, fire pit and plenty of places to veg. They have a gym and a laundry room -- quarters and detergent are available at the front desk. I opted for a king room which had a funky sofa, a desk on wheels, a suitcase shelf, etc. The tv is internet ready so you can easily sign into your Netflix account. Bathroom products are Paul Mitchum -- if you have long hair you might need to request extra shampoo for one washing. If you're stuck it's not a bad place to spend a few days. If on business it's also a great find. read more

Staff was very welcoming and helpful. The lobby area is pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms do not look how they look on their website but they were decent. The bathrooms are dated. The room was clean from the surface but it was easy to point out things that were missed. The beds aren't overly comfortable but we stayed after a 12 hour drive, so better than being in the car. If I had to stay here again I would but I'd definitely explore my options first. This is the second Marriott I've stayed at in the last couple months and I feel like the brand is going down. read more

Beautiful Marriott that's located right off the highway in Ruston, LA. We came down for a funeral one weekend from Texas, and when arriving we were greeted right away. There was an unusual smell in the lobby but by the morning time it was gone. Our rooms were very nice upon arriving, but the Saturday when we had left out to go to services for our funeral when we came but to our room it wasn't cleaned as well as we would of liked it to of been. There was trash left in the bathroom trash cans, and nothing looked to as if it had been cleaned and wiped down. Hopefully this the cleaning crew will get a little more detailed with cleaning or this. Ew beautiful location will not stay pretty for long. read more

Be very cautious about booking a room here ! I booked a room over 3 weeks in advance of a trip to Ruston. I had to attend several sporting events that day . I arrived to the hotel around 11 pm only to be informed that they had overbooked 5 rooms and I would have to be moved to an alternate hotel. I was then informed the new reservation was 40 mins away. I had to drive alone with my child in the middle of the night to the new hotel, only to have to get up 4 hours later to return to Ruston. A complete nightmare experience ! A simple phone call would have allowed me to find alternate lodging, instead no one had the courtesy to do that leaving us stranded in the middle of the night . Unacceptable ! read more

As a Marriott member I stay all over the country and I like when they thank you for your business. As traveler we can stay anywhere and I recently have switched my business from Hilton to Marriott and will be upper level soon. This location didn't mention it and did care when checking in . Most of the staff were very gracious and polite. My negative was when I received my reservation confirmation, the email said if I joined their rewards program, Bonvoy, that I would get free WiFi. So after checking in the room, I joined. When I got my bill the next morning, there was a charge for $4.95 for data charges. When I asked the front desk clerk, she said that if I gave her my member number, they would remove the charge. The young lady asked "Tina", who it seems is a supervisor, and she refused. Said that I needed to be silver status. I showed the clerk the email and asked to speak to "Tina" about it. Tina refused to come speak to me about the charge. For $5, you've just made me willing to fill out a negative review. "Tina"-- I hope you have a better future in another field than the hospitality industry. read more

Loved this hotel. It was really nice for the price. In the afternoons and eve I gave it has a small bar where you can get a drink and something to eat. The rooms were roomy and nicely decorated. They made great use of the space to give you the most room possible. Beds were comfy and the rooms temp was great. Had a wonderful outside area for sitting out when it's not too hot and the lobby had plenty of space for hanging out. The ONLY reason I didn't give this 5 stars is at breakfast the line for coffee and a bagel was outrageous. They were out of several things by 730am and it took 15 min to get my regular coffee and bagel. Looked like if you ordered a real breakfast you were waiting a lot longer. Totally dissatisfied me. Only one person working the counter. Seems like a hotel should be prepared for a breakfast rush depending on how booked the hotel was. read more

Brand new! Super comfy bed, clean, nice, great staff, reasonable rate, good size room, microwave and fridge. No "free" breakfast or coffee but nice cafe with Starbucks coffee and muffins. Cafe has lunch and dinner menu as well plus flat screen televisions. Also they have a nice fitness room. read more

I came to Ruston, Louisiana for a work trip. I am stationed here from May-August 2017. I checked in and out of the Courtyard within a month due to items slowly being stolen from my room by housekeeping staff. What is sad is that other staff members know who did it and she got away with it. Management's advice was for me to switch hotels. The general manager is very unprofessional and rude to guests like myself, as well as her staff from what I observed during my time there.There are no cameras on the hotel floors to confirm any of these thefts which is unsettling. I did file a police report with local police as over $1,000 of items were stolen from me. As a platinum elite member, this was frustrating and a huge disappointment. My company now has a permanent block on this hotel for future stays. Marriott has done nothing to compensate me. I moved to the Best Western hotel in Ruston and have had nothing but great service there. I get daily service to my luxurious room and nothing is missing! read more

This hotel is in the best location. The hotel in general is pretty amazing. The rooms are great. The staff is very friendly. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the channel selection is underwhelming. I like to watch TV when I'm relaxing in my hotel room, and I like to select from a variety of channels, especially for the price you pay for the hotel per night.
