First to review: high five me!…read more It's a reasonably decent hotel for the area. The rooms are semi recently remodeled, and each one has a mini fridge and microwave if that's helpful for you. Also helpful to note (to me of the future): the treadmill won't turn on (yes, it was plugged in) if all the pool lights are on because power doesn't run through to the exercise room. (Shoulder shrug emoji) The exercise room lights will work though. So on day 2, I was able to run on the treadmill after some of the lights were shut off over the pool. Complimentary breakfast is offered starting at 6am. It's pretty basic and includes powdered eggs, but I usually grab some breakfast sausage and peanut butter and toast and maybe a yogurt to go.

I was able to sleep in, read, sit on the porch and watch the deer, and wander the area and property taking photographs. For someone who works 7 days a week, this was a wonderful respite and time with nature. The owners were helpful and kind. Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

That was a little problem since we couldn't fully relax and play music quietly outside. There weren't a lot of instructions on where to find the remotes to the various electronics including the fan and the wifi did not work at all. The firewood was a bit expensive at 10$ per bundle. It was a small cozy little cottage and the owners made sure it had all the things you might need for a weekend getaway. The cabins are set in the beautiful hilly area of Driftless of Wisconsin and has absolutely stunning views. Might fo back to try a different cabin.

They go out of their way to add a special touch to their rooms. Great for hunters, and bikers. They supply almost everything you need in their conference room. "Grill, and microwave, and other items. Quiet. "I MEAN SERIOUSLY". So overall, this place is great! Don't expect a hilton, but you get what you pay for. To be totally honest. The second floor includes two bedrooms, a large family room, full kitchen and a deck. Very nice! The bathroom was large with a whirlpool for two. All of the furniture and decor was top notch. The beds are very nice Amish oak and the sheets were very high quality - smooooth. Everything was very comfortable! Outside the house we had a grill, swing, fire pit and lots of land to hike. Breakfast is not included in this suite but it was no problem making arrangements with Nora for a couple of mornings. We enjoyed talking with Pete, Nora and other guests - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia being represented this weekend. While relaxing at the Inn is no problem I would strongly recommend two side trips: 1) The Shrine to the Our Lady of Guadelupe in LaCrosse. It is a one hour drive and it is amazing! Check it out on Yelp. I put up some photos but they don't do it justice. 2). Pete and Nora had suggested two places to eat in the area. The pizza at the Country Gardens motel was darn good and the prices for pizza and the other menu items was darn reasonable. It's about 15 minutes away in Soldiers Grove. If you want 5 star food then you need to keep driving another 15 minutes to The Driftless Cafe in Viroqua. The Beef Tenderloin was Outstanding and the desserts (especially the carrot cake) were excellent too! Prices are a bit higher but well worth it for this very fresh and delicious meal! We heard from other guests that they went biking on the Sparta railroad trail and had a great time. Next time we'll bring our bikes.

We got to Dubuque, IA and started looking for hotels in 100 mile radius - EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED! So I started "Yelping" I saw this B&B had 5 stars and we know why ! It's immaculate! Gorgeous grounds, kept in perfect condition. We arrived late, and was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Pete. We all introduced ourselves and then made way to our cabin. It's a two bedroom adorable, good sized cabin. First bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bedroom has a queen bed, there is a large futon in the living room. Bathroom is good size with a stand up shower. The sweet cabin has a full size refrigerator and nice kitchen. It's very clean and well cared for. If you are in the area, don't pass this up!

Bathroom was very clean, especially the tub. The bathroom mirror rocked! Breakfast was not lousy tasting but basically meh. Donuts were mini chocolate hostess ones and only 3 or 4 in the container. Muffins were mini ones as well and again just a few. Sausage was nuked brown and serve that were super pale. Eggs were decent as were the bagels. English muffins were tiny and they had regular sliced bread. I was suspect of the cream cheese not kept on ice or at least cool. A few sad envelopes of oatmeal. I was reminded of early hotel breakfast days. Just felt sad.... I went to get a yogurt out of the fridge and there were only two in there. How about more? And why not some nice danish? An actual full sized donut? As for the fruit, just a couple of bananas and apples.. again, they seemed to do just enough to get by. We ate there twice and then skipped out to Country Kitchen for breakfast. Honestly, just okay. I appreciated the cleanliness but it felt closer to a Super 8 vs a Best Western.

Reedsburg was our last night so we preferred to stay somewhere nice. We were greeted warmly by our hosts Lorraine & Neil who let us park the bikes in their garage and let us know where we could get some food in town. After a nice dinner we went back to the clean and nice rooms and talked with our hosts about what we'd like for breakfast. I remember a great blueberry cobbler and some (homemade?) yogurt. Our hosts gave us some good insights on the road ahead and we rode on down through Baraboo, past Devils lake in into Madison. I'd definitely repeat the ride and particularly the stay here.

All the rooms (of which there are 4) are of good size, but only 2 have their own bathroom. The other 2 have to share, which isn't that much of a hassle in this kind of place, really. Unless you are really picky. The owners/operators are a super nice married couple who really go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfasts they serve are nothing short of spectacular and delicious without being froo-froo. Usually 4 courses, and all were excelent every meal. We always left the house nice and full! I also should mention that this place is pretty well located for quite a few tourist spots around the area, including the dells, house on the rock, taliesin, and a few others. Highly, highly reccomended!!

As other reviewers have noted, every room needs its own dehumidifier. Carpets should get ripped out and air conditioners checked for mold. This is a health hazard and made our stay much more unpleasant than we expected.

Now when I mentioned it to the staff they did offer me a room a few doors down but that room did not smell a whole lot better.....apparently nothing else was available. Now it had been extremely hot with high humidity the several days before our arrival. The hotel had fans going in the hall which was our first clue there was a problem. The smell of the room was tolerable but just barely. Clearly an on going problem.
