My wife & I started doing the Group Classes at "The Rough House" this past year (we both have found that when we do our own workout on our own or at a gym, we never workout as hard), so we go faithfully multiple times a week now to the "Rough House." We come from a CrossFit background and like how these group classes are affordable & still very challenging, but I'm not injuring myself like I did before. Weekly class offerings are diverse as well ("Boot Camps" are more HIIT, "Sweat Fest" is more cardio, "Circuit City" is a mix, etc ...). The best part though is the community. The people there are awesome! Every coach is a winner in kindness, welcome, and yet also pushing & challenging us all to work our bodies to the last second: As one Rough House Coach says, "You don't have to, you get to!" Beyond the great workouts though, its the warm community vibe that keeps us going more than anything. We've grown to really love these people. read more

I love my Rough House workouts with Colin. I travel to Chicago for work, usually for a week at a time, 8-10 times per year. I had resigned myself to staying on track for fitness and nutrition goals when I was at home then falling off during my work travel weeks. I ran across The Rough House and decided to try in hotel / at home personal training for a trip and that's how I experienced what The Rough House trainers can do. The trainer, Colin, took assessment information prior to my trip then customized and optimized the time we had. Not only did I not miss a beat for fitness and nutrition habits during that trip, but I also was sharper and more energized then slept better during my visit. What I appreciated was the attention to detail and how well tailored the workouts were to the needs and goals I mentioned, then also, to things I didn't know to ask for. When I joined about 4 months ago I didn't know what to expect, but I knew I needed to change my fitness habit. I signed up with Natalie who has been Incredible throughout my fitness journey. Great personal training! I have been working out with Colin for several months now and would recommend him and his gym to anyone! Every session is fun and productive. He listens to what you want and makes sure your workouts are personalized to you. If you are training for a race or fitness competition, he will make sure you're in the best shape come race day! Colin is clearly very educated in his field. I have also worked out with Natalie and Julianne, and they are just as great! I don't do group training but when I arrive for my personal session I always catch the end of the group class. Everybody is always drenched in sweat with big smiles. I've been going to The Rough House for personal training since the beginning of 2020. I first visited and met Colin almost a year before that. Now I wish I had started sooner. I've lost 30 lbs and have seen better muscle gain than I've ever experienced before. I really enjoy the personal training sessions and look forward to starting my day with Colin (I actually meet with him 5-6 days a week now). This is not just strength training. Colin is interested in my lifestyle and has very good suggestions for proper nutrition and other ways to increase my health. He was a big part of me quitting smoking cigarettes and some other unhealthy habits. I feel like we've become friends and he knows about my family and my activities outside the gym. This means his advice is very appropriate to my schedule, where I am at and what my life goals are. Colin is set up to handle clientele of any level of physical fitness. He offers trainings for triathletes or middle-aged regular Joes. The facility itself is awesome. I like to think of it as a "boutique" gym with a distinct look and very personalized training. All the equipment is new and high quality and the selection of equipment is very large. I personally like the atmosphere a lot. A lot of thought was put into the design. Colin has an awesome speaker too, so great music! You also get access to the location whenever they are open, so it's like having your own private gym. I must say that the cost is very reasonable, and I am amazed at the quality of service. The monthly plan is the cheapest way to pay and I suggest you strongly consider it. The app is very good, and I do all the scheduling/rescheduling online. Colin is available from early morning until the evening and is very flexible with his schedule to work with me. He's a very hard-working person and takes his job seriously. He's very honest and straight forward. All around great guy really. I highly recommend Colin as a personal trainer and the Rough House as a gym. If you've been putting off losing weight or regular exercise, you should consider him. read more

I have been taking the group fitness classes at The Rough House for about two months now, and it has already exceeded my expectations. I feel like I am getting in better shape with each passing day. Before I started, my overall body strength was embarrassingly poor. I had aching knees and could barely lift 8lb dumbbells. With a slight change in my diet incorporated into my daily exercise routine, I saw an immediate difference. I can now lift 15lb dumbbells, I can easily do box jumps, high knees, and so many other exercises that I couldn't do earlier because of my bad knees. I'd say the trainers/instructors played a huge role in this change because they are genuinely invested in your health and well-being. They pay close attention to your form while exercising so that you get the maximum benefit from those exercises. Plus, they make it fun! My confidence level has gone up, I've made a lot of new friends at the gym and it feels like a community now. We look out for each other. I'm really glad I made the decision to join. I've been a member here for a few years and this is my favorite gym by far! I've been training with Colin for a while now, my sessions are never the same, constantly incorporating new techniques and workouts, training is tailored to fit my goals. I'm a big fan of group fitness classes and love the variety here, instructors make an intense workout motivating & fun (really), the classes definitely get your heart rate up. I highly recommend the small group classes at The Rough House. The instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging. They'll work with you to meet your goals; whether you've been working out for years or are just starting. I have been training with Colin for over a year and was in pretty bad shape when I started. I had a knee replacement 2 years prior and was just 6 months post-op with from a hip replacement. I had not exercised for at least 5 years and had zero balance. Colin created a personalized and progressive plan for me. I have your basic story of once being in great shape throughout high school and then falling to the Freshman 15+ in college. After leaving high school, I lost most of my knowledge when it came to lifting weights, which led to over a decade of running and nonstop cardio. Despite my ability to run for long distances, I missed having muscle and feeling strong. I sought out Collin after seeing the work he had done with my husband. My husband had the complete opposite experience in high school, he didn't do sports and therefore didn't learn the fundamentals of working out. I saw the work my husband was doing with Collin and was intrigued by the strength he was gaining. I started working with Collin about three months ago and feel the strength coming back.
